CodeActivity custom Properties editor

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 21, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Windows Application

Hello, I'm starting to write my first Activity Library and have this question. I'm creating several CodeActivity subclasses and would like to present their properties with simple custom editors when I drag the activity in the designer.

To be more clear, I'd like to present a InArgument<bool> with a check box, a connection string with the SQL Connection String editor etc.

I've found a lot of cofusing articles. Can anyone guide me to the goal?

Best regards

Sharepoint 2010 Custom Field Types & Field Properties ( Editor Control )

I've been searching this forum and all over the web for a working example of how to implement a Editor Control with a Sharepoint 2010 custom field type.

The only documentation on MSDN mentions the implementation of IFieldEditor. There are no propper examples of how to implement properties on custom field types.

All I could find on MSDN regarding this issue was :

Has anyone done anything simmilar and know of a propper example of how to implement it?

Serializaing/deserializing XOMLs with custom activities that have properties of ISerializable types

I have custom activities that have dependency properties of types that implement ISerializable. When they are serialized/deserialized to XOML, the ISerializable-implied functionality is ignored and the standard reflection-based SerializableAttribute behavior is invoked. This poses a serious problem since the types require precise control over their serialization to ensure that proper internal state is maintained across serialization boundaries. I am aware of the WF custom serialization methods as mentioned in Tom Lakes' blog post, but they seem to require the DesignerSerializerAttribute attribute on all custom types. This is a problem because the types are business objects shared across many (non-WF) applications and they are part of a seperate code base to which I have no access. Is there a different method for getting custom serialization? And what is the reasoning behind the WF team choosing to ignore the very basic ISerializable attribute which is supported by every other .NET API across the framework? Thanks in advance.

Search - How to remove a meta tag ... / custom column is not showing up in Crawled Properties after

Hi I got the following warning after I crawled a site. Info out of Crawl Log: "The content for this address was excluded by the crawler because this item was marked with a no-index meta-tag. To index this item, remove the meta-tag and recrawl." Sound easy but I don't no where I could do it. The other problem is that I try to get a custom column from a custom list showing up in the crawle properties. I am using also a custom scope with the behavior "INCLUDE" ... In MOSS 2007 it was a lot simpler ;-) Thanks Regards MIA

Searching for custom properties in a default search

Hi all, I have added some custom properties in to Manage User Properties in my User Profile Service Application. The issue I'm having is that I'm unable to obtain search results from these properties. For example, if in the Enterprise Search / People tab I enter "Dave" and click search, then I'll be presented with results of people who's name matches "Dave". If I enter "Information Technology" then I'll get a list of all users who's department is "Information Technology". So far we're okay! But let's go back to the custom property. Let's say it's called "Clients" and it is for storing client names against the staff profiles. If I search for "Microsoft" and a user has Microsoft in their client property then no results are found. I've created the managed properties in the Metadata Property Mappings of my search service application, done full crawls but nothing. If I search for "clients:microsoft" then I get results. So the question is how do I or is it even possible to get custom metadata properties to show up in a default search? Thanks!

Details View Biding Custom Object with Enum properties fields

Hello, I'm trying to bind custom object to details view. The problem is that enum property fields are not show.Is there any way to show enum property fields in details view ?I put some example code below (I do not specify any rows mappings, they are generated dynamically because different kind of objects are bound to details view):// My object public class OrderItem { public ItemKindEnum unitemizedItemKind { get { return (ItemKindEnum)this.unitemizedItemKindID; } } ... } // Details view configuration <asp:DetailsView ID="dvOperationDetails" runat="server" DefaultMode="ReadOnly" ... />

Problem binding business objects to custom user control properties

I have created a user control (supplierPicker) intended to allows a supplier database to be searched and a supplier selected. I want to be able to use this control in a number of other user controls, by binding the suppplierID property of the supplierPicker to a supplierID property in a business object, which is set as the datacontext of the parent user control. When I do this, and there is a supplierID specified in the business ofbject, the binding sets the supplierID in the supplierPicker control and it shows the correct supplier name in the textbox. However when the supplierID DependencyProperty is changed from within the supplierPicker the newly selected supplier name is shown in the TextBox, but the SupplierID does not propogate back to the business object. Other controls on the parent form work fine, so the binding to the business object seems to be ok. Any pointers as to what I'm doing wrong here would be grately appreciated.  This one has been driving me nuts for days! Snipped code for the supplier picker:         public partial class SupplierPicker : UserControl, INotifyPropertyChanged     {         public static DependencyProperty SupplierIDProperty;         public event PropertyChangedEventHandler PropertyChan

Keeping Custom properties in GridView Added on OnRowDataBound Event While Sorting

All of my columns are bound in the Gridview. On OnRowDataBound event, I am adding some custom styles like underlines and colors to the text of the columns. Sorting of data is working fine but I am losing my custom styles when I sort. I am using the generic sorting code for the GridView. How I can keep my custom styles on sorting that I added during OnRowDataBound event.   Thanks for your help.

Custom Activity properties usage

I have one Custom Activity which I have used in a dynamic workflow. Dynamic means I have re hosted the designer in windows form application. Now if I try to access this Custom Activity in any other Activities I got following message. "The type of the member "messageActivity1" could not be determined.  Ensure that the declaration is correct" The Dll of this activity is in GAC and in Win Form Bin. If do the same in .Net designer it works fine. Any idea to solve this???  farukh

How to add custom properties to terms in the SharePoint 2010 managed metadata term store?

There is a "Term.CustomProperties" collection to get the collection of custom property objects for the current Term object from the read-only dictionary.
But where and how to define and set custom properies for terms? This dictionary seems to be read-only by default.

Any help / documentation would be appreciated. / Frank

[Custom control] Dynamically evaluated properties?

There's a control with propertygrid-alike UI, accepting IDictionary with a known keys set (let it be the SqlConnectionStringBuilder for example. Actually, it is a custom class).

I do not wish to specify key values in template bindings (e.g. Text = "{Binding SourceProp[keyName], RelativeSource={RelativeSource TemplatedParent}}"), so I've added set of protected properties and bind them to the SourceProp property

    public CustomControl()
        new Binding("SourceProp[keyName]")
          Mode = BindingMode.TwoWay,
          Source = this

WF4.0 Custom Activity - Property Editor or TypeConverter

As part of my custom activity development, I have a requirement to change the value of one property acording to another property's value.

For example, I have two properties- Position and Qualification in my custom activity. Once I select a position, the qualification should change according to the selected position value. Both, Position and Qualification  are string properties and the value of Position is populated with a TypeConverter.

I tried with TypeConverter for Qualification property too. Issue is how to refresh the Qualification values on change of Position property?

I tried with PropertyEditor also. But not sure how to pass the data from my ActivityDesigner to PropertyEditor. I am handling the ModelItem.PropertyChanged event and getting the Qualification values. How to pass this values either to my TypeConverter or to My PropertyEditor?

PropertyEditor Code is as follows

How can I add a SharePoint Rich text editor in my custom application page?
