Solution Full Update

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 26, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

I make a project based on WSPBuilder, add there an event handler, compile code, make wsp, deploy.

For the first time i have exact reaction from site as i intended.

Then i retract and delete solution and make several changes to elements.xml. Changing binding of list for exmaple from custom list to tasks:

from <Receivers ListTemplateId="100"> to <Receivers ListTemplateId="107">

Then i go all the way back to solution deployment.

But when i try to fire some events i dont get the effect.

As i`ve found out dll changes are deployed nicely. So if i change cs code i see the effect, but any changes in xmls go nowhere.

Only way no is to make it in a new project.

So how can i update these xmls on portal ?

I see xml are changing corerctly in feature\myevent.

Here is deploy script:

stsadm -o addsolution -filename WSPBuilderProject1.wsp
stsadm -o deploysolution -name WSPBuilderProject1.wsp -allowgacdeployment -immediate
stsadm -o copyappbincontent

Here is retract script:

stsadm -o retractsolution -name WSPBuilderProject1.wsp -local
stsadm -o deletesolution -name WSPBuilderProject1.wsp

What am i doing wrong ?

Update Panel only doing full postback

I have a page with a TabContainer with 3 tabs.  Within each tab, I have an UpdatePanel.  One of my UpdatePanel's update mode is set to "conditional" and I've added an asyncpostbacktrigger with the controlId="btnClearEmail1" and the eventname="Click".  When I run the page and click the button assigned to the asyncpostback trigger, the page will do a full postback.  Am I forgetting something?  How can I get it to just refresh what is inside the UpdatePanel?  <asp:tabcontainer id="ajaxTabContainer" runat="server"> <asp:tabpanel id="ajaxTabCustomerInfo" runat="server" headertext="Customer Information" visible="true"> <contenttemplate> ... Update a VS solution after "Import SharePoint Solution Package"

Best Practice to deploy update packages on a production ASP.Net solution

Hi guys, I've a production web site.  It was deployed/installed using a standard MSI project.  But now, I'll like to create a kind of MSI package containing only those components affected during a fix.  Everytime I fix something in the solution, I've to manually copy/paste all modified components (ascx, aspx, dll, etc) to the web server.  Of course, I've a staging area from where I can validate that my package is completed and I'm not missing anything.  But I'll like to avoid this manual-risky-prompt-error process.  That way my fixes packages will looks more professional and I could even have our web manager deploying fixes on this production box. What folks do to deploy fixes? Any ideas? Thanks.

Update panel doing full postback

Hi, I am having an issue with an update panel, which is still causing the entire page to postback.

I have made sure i have all the correct bits in the web.config, section groups, httphandlers, httpmodules, additonal assemly etc... but it still does not work. I have got it to work in a way, which is why i think i have the config right, because if i take the search panel of and place it outwith the update panel, the go button only postsback the rest of the page not what is inside the updatepanel.

Just hoping someone can see where i am going wrong.

I am using a master page, but the update panel only appears in the content page, within the content tags.

Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks

ASP.Net Gridview Edit Update Cancel Commands

In ASP.Net 2.0, GridView Control also provides the functionality to edit and update the data retrieved from the database using CommandField template. You can cancel the action using Cancel Command of the CommandField. GridView consists of events that can be used to perform the actions like edit, update and cancel upon the Data items displayed in the ASP.Net GridView Data Control.

How to format and update GridView and DataGrid rows using JQuery

The behavior described in this question is as expected. When you set text of a cell in grid, it directly affects HTML that is going to be rendered. When you set text value of a cell, it means that you are setting innerText of the cell. The column that GridView creates for command fields (Edit, Delete and Select) are a (anchor) or button elements. So you can see what will happen if you set text value in that cell. It will wipe out those link or button controls and replace them with simple text string.

Update Vs SystemUpdate

Many of you might noticed that share point ListItem has Update() method as well as SystemUpdate().

What is the difference between these two methods and why MOSS has two different APIs for updating an ListItem

PDA Keyboard v1.0 Light Edition - Full Screen Keyboard

The default keypad on Windows Mobile is not at all finger friendly, there is no way you can use it with your fingers. I have trouble using the stylus with it too. But there are many freeware option available to make the SIP ( Software Input Panel - check the Glossary ) finger friendly. Some of these are HTC Diamond keyboard, Blimkeys, PocketCM Keyboard and then now we have PDA Keyboard v1.0 Light Edition from pdamedia.biz. When you hit the blue button it goes into fullscreen mode , then you can use both your hands for typing.

SqlCommand.ExecuteNonQuery() returns -1 when doing Insert / Update / Delete

Sometimes you end up with a return value of -1 when using the SqlClient.SqlCommand.ExecuteNonQuery method.

Why is that?

Well, the ExecuteNonQuery method is there for statements for changing data, ie. DELETE / UPDATE /INSERT, and the returned value are the number of rows affected by that statement.

When checking the documentation we can see that there are some conditions that return -1.

For UPDATE, INSERT, and DELETE statements, the return value is the number of rows affected by the command.

When a trigger exists on a table being inserted or updated, the return value includes the number of rows affected by both the insert or update operation and the number of

rows affected by the trigger or triggers. For all other types of statements, the return value is -1. If a rollback occurs, the return value is also -1.

>>>How to update multiple rows of gidview by one click

I want to add multiple rows of a gridview if the data for multiple fields are same.

Idea for this is that a user may search a record with some parameter e.g. Sector, plot.

For example 15 records being displayed in gridview.

There should be checkbox before every row and if user wants to update Plot and Flat No that is same for 10 rows out of 15 so he will check the rows and update.

For this a dialog box should appear asking for the parameter i.e. Plot and Flat or something else next time may be it will be City or country. Moreover, there is already an Edit button to update records, when user click it another page open for the record to be updated and whatever he wants to update, it updates.

Hope everone understand the scenario.

I don't want to disturb the already provided Edit functionality and want to provide same record to be updated.

Any idea in this regard would be appreciated.

Solution/project structure

Hello, I am working in a aspx web application that must be built in several separate "modules" with different functionality which will be partly developed by different teams.

However, I need the completed app to reside in ONE virtual directory. There will be a single startup page. I need session state to be preserved across pages in different modules.

I structured it as one solution with different Web Projects and one class library project with common functionalities.

1) is this the right approach to do this? Or which one would be better?

2) each time I add a new web project to the solution, a new web.config gets created. What do I do and where do I put them?

VS 2010 + framework 4.0 + TFS

Regarding TFS and source control, I have a single Team project, the solution and web projects are inside it.
