But them it is not available on webparts and neither available to be added when editing a sharepoint page. Am I missing something? I tried iisreset but still can't see anything

Web Parts: Use Windows SharePoint Services as a Platform for Building Collaborative Apps, Part 2

Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003, which is part of the Office System, lets you create and manage virtual servers, site collections, sites, workspaces, and users. You can also use the Windows SharePoint Services object model to design and implement user-targeted applications. In the second part of a two part series, the authors take a look at the WSS and SPS object models, Web Part Page anatomy, creating and deploying Web Parts, and Web Part security. They also discuss Web Part infrastructure and how to create custom Web Parts.

.NET Framework: Building, Packaging, Deploying, and Administering Applications and Types-Part 2

Part 1 of this series discussed how types built for the common language runtime can be shared among applications in the Microsoft .NET Framework regardless of the .NET languages used to build them. This second part continues with building assemblies by first covering security, sharing assemblies, versioning, localization, and side-by-side execution. Because in .NET two DLLs with the same name can be loaded as long as another attribute-which can include the localization language-differs, versioning is much easier than it used to be, so DLL Hell may become a thing of the past.

Deploying custom Web Parts on SharePoint 2007 production server

I would like to develop a custom SharePoint 2007 Web Part for a client. Currently I'm using Visual Studio to deploy my solution to a test environment (since it's a SharePoint Project I choose just Build -> Deploy from the menu). What are the appropriate steps to deploy it to the production server?

I'd like keep it simple and safe (i.e. use the principle of least privilege). Therefore (if possible) avoid using stsadm, achieve this through web interface, or avoid using administrative rights.

Also, can I specify the scope of my Web Part, i.e. choose on which Web Application or Site Collection will it be installed?

Deploying a Custom Web Part

I created a custom web part using Visual Studio 2010.  I am able to add the web part to the default SharePoint site; however, the custom web part is not showing up in other sites on the same server.  I am using SharePoint 2010.  Any advice?

Deploying features to a specific sub-site

Hi all, I have a Root Site collection, and it has various sub sites, I have a couple of lists and content types that are specific to some sub sites, and the client doesn't want these lists and content types viewable across the company so it makes sense that these are deployed to their respective sub sites only so that they are not available at the root level. I know if you go through the Site Settings for the sub sites, you can create content types and lists that are only available in that site, but I am battling to deploy these content type & lists to their specific sub-sites though Visual Studio 2010, does anyone know how to do this?

Problem Deploying the Reporting Services Web Parts to SharePoint

I am trying to install the RSWebParts.cab file - which contains the Report Viewer and Report Explorer web parts - to my SharePoint 2010 server.  I ran the following command in PowerShell: stsadm -o addwppack -filename path/to/RSWebParts.cab -globalinstall. And received "The solution was successfully deployed" message.

However when I go into the SharePoint Server web front-end, I cannot find any trace of the new web parts.  Going back into PowerShell I ran the Get-SPWebPartPack command and the following was returned:

Name                             SolutionId                                                Deployed

rsswebparts.cab               00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000    False

So it appears to me that the cab file was loaded but not deployed.  But I'm not sure what I need to do next in order to get this pac

Ajax, Smart Parts(web part w/ ajax support), User Control, and a GridView

So I am playing around with a user control that I created that adds some functionality to a SPList. I have scoured the web looking for a way to get a web part that had a gridview with custom buttons that is bound to certain Items in a sharepoint list. I found Smart Parts and created an Ajax enabled User Control. the problem is that the label is updating but the gridview is not. and on a site note how can I format the Time on Board column to not include milliseconds(the fields are showing up like '1.02:48:31.8633636') i just want 1.02:48 and maybe the 31:

here is my ascx:

<%@ Control Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="AlertControlWebPart.ascx.cs"
  Inherits="AlertControlWebPart.AlertControlWebPart, AlertControlWebPart, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToke

Deploying Custom List forms using features

I have created a custom list form for my custom list ( CourseInfo.aspx).  Everything works fine.  I now want to create a feature that will deploy the new form.  Is this possible ?

I have create a feature that will create my list def and also an instance of the list.  I have added the new form to the same folder as the other list forms for the list.  I have also added changed the scheme.xml to reference the new list form as follows

However the file is never deployed.  Am I missing something here.

Is what I am trying possible ?

Any Help would be appreciated.

Deploying Visual Web Part with Custom Server controls

I created a Visual Web Part with VizStudio 2010. In this web part I have a custom server control that exists in a project I added to the solution.

When I deploy from the menu can I tell Studio to deploy the Custom Library or do I install that manually?

It builds fine, but when I add the web part to a web part page I get an exception that the assembly cannot be found.

Visual Web Parts - programmatically change Web Part Title not working

I have four custom made Web Parts (based on the Visual Web Part template) that show a filtered set of data from various lists. These work just fine on my front page (which is a Publishing enabled page/site). Each Web Part has some functionality for setting a date filter on the set of data. Now, on every load I generate a string which tells what the current filter is (default filter, custom set date filter +++) and set this string to the Web Part's Title. This text then shows up in the Web Part's header. All this works just fine on the front page.
However, I also have a few sub sites that are based on either the Blank Site or a Team Site and on these sites setting the Web Part's Title property doesn't work. Well, it works, but doesn't get rendered. If I do a "Edit page" or go to one of the Web Part's properties, all the Web Parts' headers get updated to the correct text. But, the next time I load the page, it's back to some old value.

I dont' get it! Does anyone know what might be causing this?

Deploying Web Part Error

I have built a development server with all the recommendations from Microsoft.  Everything works great except when I deploy a Web Part I get the following error:

Error occurred in deployment step 'Recycle IIS Application Pool': Cannot connect to the SharePoint site: http://sp2010dev/. Make sure that this is a valid URL and the SharePoint site is running on the local computer. If you moved this project to a new computer or if the URL of the SharePoint site has changed since you created the project, update the Site URL property of the project.

I have made my self db owner of the content database.
Double checked my Site URL
and Iam farm admin

I have also checked the SharePoint logs and did not find an error.  Still not 100 % sure on what I would be looking for in the logs besides a big error message which there is not one.

Any help on this will be appreciated.

Pre-Upgrade: Identifying Missing Web Parts / Features

I'm trying to find what feature the upgrade report is referencing. I tried forcing a removal based on the ID and when I run the upgrade check again, they are still there. Any other way to get a simple name based on the Feature ID?

The following feature(s) are referenced by the content, but they are not installed on the web server

  • Name = Unknown, Feature id = d0944c5e-9a3a-41a0-ab89-6a810e305574, Reference count = 1, Scope = Web, Status = Missing

The following setup file(s) are referenced by the content, but they are not installed on the web server
  • Path = [C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12\Template\Features\SharePointAJAX\dwp\SPCommunity.webpart], Reference = [1], Status = [Missing]

Moving Web Part Pages with Content Editor Web Parts

In our MOSS 2007 application, we were moving a document library from one site to another (on the same site collection).  In the library, there were several web part pages (.aspx) that contained Content Editor Web Parts.

The pages were copied (using Manage Content and Structure) and they contained the Content Editor Web Parts. After the move, but all of the Content Editor Web Parts were blank.  I thought that the content was saved on the page but it looks like I was mistaken.

Is there a way to move these Web Part Pages while preserving the Content Editor Web Parts?
