i am in kind of a big problem, i have created a Windows application with perfect Licensing in any environments excepts for VMs, people can install a licensed version of my application on VM and then just copy the VM on other multiple
machines, the application works just fine with that single license... How can i avoid that...
P.S. - using centralized server or USB Dongle or not allowing installation on VMs are not feasible solutions for me.

In a settlement agreement reached in January 2001 to resolve a dispute over the Microsoft distribution of its Java implementation, Sun Microsystems and Microsoft agreed to limit the duration of the time Microsoft would use Sun's source code and compatibility test suites to support the Microsoftî Java Virtual Machine (MSJVM).

Efficient testing can require many different machine and server configurations but the effort needed to manage these test environments can take a toll. Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 simplifies the provisioning and management of testing environments. This article demonstrates how the extensive Virtual Server COM API can be used to create an automated application testing environment to make your testing chores a whole lot easier.

Developers who use the Microsoft virtual machine (VM) will need to transition away from its use by January 2004. To comply with a court settlement with Sun Microsystems, Microsoft will not be able to update the Microsoft VM, even to repair critical security vulnerabilities.

I want to setup Sharepoint server 2010 on my windows 7 home premium laptopn. Can I download 2010 Information Worker Demonstration and Evaluation Virtual Machine (RTM) on my laptop.
My configuration is Windows 7 as host operating system. Created a VM using Virtual Box with Windows Server 2008 R2 as guest operating system. I downloaded Sharpoint Server 2010 on the host machine. I want to install Sharepoint Server 2010 on my VM machine
. How do I do that ? Please help.
On my old labtop (windows xp) I was using a SharePoint 2007 + Windows 2003 virtual machine (vhd)
(I was using the free Microsoft Virtual PC to use it) .But my labtop was very slow so I bought a new machine which has Windows 7 professional 64 bit.So how could I use my old vhd? I heard Virtual pc doesn't work on 64 bit windows.
After some search in google I read about VMWare Server which is free.I read v1 is better than v2.But I have no idea about it and didn't use it before is it safe?
Hi I have an Instance of Sql2008 running on Windows 2008R2. That configuration is a guest machine on a Host Windows 2008 R2 STD.
Twice daily noon and 6PM, I run a baremetal restore backup of the host to it's dedicated internal drive. This includes all the vhds for the VMs.
No Windows backup is configured on the VM's
The SQL VM has scripted backup database and backup log jobs that are scheduled.
The backup database job runs once daily in the evening. The problem is the HOST level backup is causing the backup library of the SQL server to identify the noon VM VSS snapshot as a backup. This "injection" means if I want to recover a full backup
then a tlog(1...n) sequence I can do it fine from script but I don't think I can do it from the SQL Management Studio, because the noon backup database command was issued by the host and used the VSS writer to put that on the imaging(hidden) drive.
I've been troubleshooting this issue on and off for a few weeks now. I've scoured these forums and looked through sqlis.com, but I'm just about out of ideas. Here's what's happening.
I have a *very* simple integration services package I developed on a virtual Windows XP machine running on my workstation. The package uses a script task to simulate a one-row source with four columns (int, char(64), varchar(512) and char(2))
and then passes that off to a fuzzy lookup. The fuzzy lookup is running against a table of only about 6,000 rows. The package then inserts the results into a table and exits.
When I run this from my virtual XP machine, it completes in 1-2 seconds.
When I execute this on the server (either as a job or through DTExec) it takes 14-18 seconds. The server stores the package in MSDB and is also the location where the fuzzy lookup happens.
I've tried using the 32-bit runtime, creating 32- and 64-bit aliases to the server, changing the name of the server from the name to the IP address and port, stopping/restarting SQL Agent and SSIS Services... none of this seems to change the execution time.
The one thing I've found is that if I enable package logging on the logging tab of the job, using the SSIS Log Provider for SQL Server and pointing it to the same connection st
