I'm about to begin a "manual migration" of a somewhat complex VB6 app to C# .NET 4. I won't be using a converter tool (which seem to rely too heavily on the VB compatiblity classes), so I can do a bit of technology upgrading. But
I won't be doing a major restructuring either.. the objective is to get it off VB6 with as little effort as possible !
The app queries the database every few seconds, populates a VB collection from the query results, then manually populates rows in its
VSFlexGrid from the collection. The newly-queried data is added to the bottom row of the grid, and the previous data is moved up a row (sort of like watching a pool fill with water). The grid is read-only, and the app
doesn't appear to use many features of the grid (and certainly not data binding).
Given my middle-of-the-road migration approach plus the fact that I've never seen this app before yesterday, I need advice on which (preferably Microsoft) .NET grid control to use instead of VSFlexGrid (I have lots of .NET
experience with internals stuff, but not so much with the 4.0 Winform UI controls)...
For example, if I want to preserve the logic that queries and populate
