http 400 Error when performing item upload after setting custom edit form on content type

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 21, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

What I am trying to do is create custom edit forms for different content types within the same document library.....so basically I have done the following:

  • I have created two site content types and reconfigured my library to use CT's.
  • I then connected to my site using SPD.
  • When examining my library I can see that I have the two CT that I added earlier.  I then created a new editform for one the CTs using the top ribbon menu and in the drop down box associated it to the CT.  I did not select this as the default form for the library.
  • I then updated the library CT (not site CT) with the url to form in the editform properties.

When I create a document and edit the properties it works fine - totally as expected.  However when I upload a document the default EditForm for the library is used and I can select the CT to associate the document to.  When I choose the CT with the custom form the new edit form is not found and I get a page not found error - http 400.

The full url for this library is is http://XXXX/functions/ehs/CSI

So the URL I have used is /functions/ehs/CSI/Forms/EditForm2.aspx (EditForm2.aspx) is my form and this is fine.  I have even used CSI/Forms/EditForm2.aspx and this works...  BUT ne

Inserting a custom list form for a custom content type

Hello, When I try to insert a custom list form for a custom content type I created, nothing happens. Same thing is for the content type "message" & "discussion". I already cleaned up my profile (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/spdsupport/archive/2008/07/03/how-to-fix-custom-list-forms-will-not-insert-or-show-up-on-the-design-surface-of-sharepoint-designer.aspx) I use MOSS 2007 version and SP designer 2007 SP2 on Win7. Below you can see an example of the custom content type.     Columns Name Type Status Source Title Single line of text Required Item Segment Lookup Optional   Form Lookup Optional   Main Product Lookup Optional   Weight Number Optional   Price/Kg Currency Optional   Unit Price Currency Optional   Manufacturer Lookup Optional   Packaging Lookup Optional   PL Yes/No Optional   Label Lookup Optional   USP Lookup Optional   POSC Lookup Required   Place Lookup Hidden StoreCheckHeader Country Lookup Hidden StoreCheckHeader SC_Link Single line of text Hidden StoreCheckHeader

Cannot Display Application Page as Custom Form for Content Type

I've created a custom content type in VS. In "Elements.xml" file of my content type, I added my custom application page as new form and deployed as feature.

Setting Task Field Values in Custom .aspx Edit Form and accessing through ExtendedProperties

Since we're using WSS 3.0 and not MOSS 2007, we have to create and use ASP forms for any custom Workflow Task Edit pages instead of being able to use InfoPath forms (which would be nice...maybe some day we'll step up to MOSS). The custom Workflow Edit Pages are used for custom Task Content Types that we create so that our Workflow Tasks can have additional fields beyond the standard Workflow Task fields. Once you've collected the values for the Task fields from the user on the ASP Workflow Task Edit form, the typical procedure is to create a hashtable and fill the hashtable with key/value pairs that represent the names of your Task fields and their associated values, as such:

// This function is called when the user clicks the Save/Submit button
// on the Custom Task Edit ASP form
public void btnSubmit_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
// Create a hashtable that will be used to update the values of task fields
  Hashtable taskHash = new Hashtable();
// For each field, create two values in the hashtable. If the field name
// matches a field in the Task content type, the field name will not be
// searchable as a key within the ExtendedProperties hashtable. So
// create a second field that is a duplicate of the first but having a
// name that doesn't exactly match an existing field in the Task
// content type. That way it will be a searchable ke

Custom List Edit Item Form

If I change the default querystring variable from ID to CustomID then it doesn't show the relevant record from the list.

I did this to avoid an error

"No item exists at http://moss-server:18498/pagescollection/EditGroupMeetingPlannerForm.aspx?ID=88.  It may have been deleted or renamed by another user."

What should i do, to avoid this error. Plz help me.

How do I deploy a custom form with a Content Type?

I have a VseWSS solution which deploys a site definition. Within this are some site columns and content types. With one of these custom content types, I'd like to use a customised form for displaying details. I know how to do it manually via SPD (List Properties > Supporting Files > Content Type, etc) but I can't figure out how to include it in my package.

Trying to create a custom edit form but when i go over formfield: 62 I get a web part error

Trying to create a custom edit form. What i do is drag over the text box and bring it in to the page and specify is a what data field and format as a list form field. It displays perfectly in sharepoint designer but when i go to the actual page. It says "Unable to display this Web Part. To troubleshoot the problem, open this Web page in a Microsoft SharePoint Foundation-compatible HTML editor such as Microsoft SharePoint Designer. If the problem persists, contact your Web server administrator."

"Duplicate content type name" error when trying to create a site from a custom site template

I am getting "A duplication content type name 'Approval' was found" error, when I try to create a new site based on a custom template.  These are the steps that result in the error:

  1. Create a new blank site.
  2. Without making any changes, save the blank site as a site template called "test".
  3. Try to create a new site based on the "test" template.
  4. Get the above error.

I did notice that when I tried creating site from the template in a different area of my site collection, the error name changed from "Approval" to "Requestor".

As it stands I cannot use custom templates in my site collection.  Any advice on how to overcome this error?

Attachment upload error on browser based InfoPath form

I am having an interesting problem with browser based InfoPath forms in SharePoint 2007.  For some reason the file attachment control is not working any more.  It was working fine in July, but now it will not allow file attachments over a few kb.  I tried a 34KB file and I get the error below, a 2KB file works fine.

Create buttons for "new item" which create a new page of a specific content type

We have a Pages library (wiki) which supports a few content types (and page layout associated). We want to enable users to click a button for example of "new custom enterprise wiki page" - so a new page of content type article will be open in edit mode. Can someone help how to develop? (it has to mimic the behavior that happens when user creates new page from the Ribbon or Site actions and has to choose the content type, it also has to keep the new page in edit mode and not just create it).

Cannot enable Ribbon Edit Tab buttons and "connect" them to a list item in my custom webpart

I have one list with some custom fields and I want to develop a custom page. So, I created an ASPX page and added my custom webpart. This webpart has just a RichTextField, in edit mode, "linked" to one item of the list, like below: SPSite _SPSite = SPContext.Current.Site; SPWeb _SPWebProjects = _SPSite.OpenWeb("/Projects"); SPList _SPListProject = _SPWebProjects.GetList("/Projects/Lists/Project"); int _ID = Convert.ToInt32(this.Page.Request.QueryString["ID"]); RichTextField _RTF = new RichTextField(); _RTF.ID = "RTF"; _RTF.ControlMode = SPControlMode.Edit; _RTF.FieldName = "History"; _RTF.ItemContext = SPContext.GetContext(HttpContext.Current, _ID, _SPListProject.ID, _SPListProject.ParentWeb); _RTF.RenderContext = SPContext.GetContext(HttpContext.Current, _ID, _SPListProject.ID, _SPListProject.ParentWeb); this.Controls.Add(_RTF);   Then, I "turned on" the edit tab on the ribbon by doing the follow: protected override void OnPreRender(EventArgs e) { SPRibbon _CurrentRibbon = SPRibbon.GetCurrent(this.Page); _CurrentRibbon.TrimById("Ribbon.WebPartPage"); _CurrentRibbon.MakeTabAvailable("Ribbon.ListForm.Edit", string.Empty); _CurrentRibbon.MakeContextualGroupInitiallyVisible("Ribbon.ListForm.Edit", string.Empty); _CurrentRibbon.Minimized = false; _CurrentRi

Unable to Show Edit item Links in Data Form Web Part

I have a DFWP connected to custom list and the boxes to Show Edit Item Links, Show Delete item links and Show Insert Item links are grayed out so that they can not be checked. This works fine when I use a DFWP connected to a standard list (i.e., Contacts). Is there something special that needs to be done to activate this functionality?ThanksDean
