Unable to Enable Enterprise Features

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 21, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

I have a new SharePoint 2010 server that I am setting up. I installed it using the Standard Edition license key and I now need to enable some enterprise features. I have a valid Enterprise key and when I initially did the upgrade, it errored out. Now when I try to restart it, it tells me:

"An existing request to enable the Enterprise feature is in progress. To check the status of this request, go to the Timer Job Status page in Central Administration Operations and check the status of the SharePoint Server Enterprise Features Upgrade Job."

I have checked the Timer Job and it isn't listed as running or completed for that matter. I have stopped and restarted the timer service and tried again with no luck, and also rebooted the server and tried again, also with no lucik.

Can anyone help me figure out how to clear this message so that I can try this process again? I am getting desperate here.

Thanks for any help.

Accordion : Unable to enable accordion panes.

In the content page, I have an ajax accordion pane with couple of panes.
Within each of those panes there is 1 user control.

Initially all the panes except the first one (AccordionPaneMain) is enabled.

The first pane user control  contains a  form view . In formview itemcommand
I am doing some processing and then was trying to enable rest of the panes by calling
the function showPanes in the main page by using invoker method.

My problem is, the method (showPanes) is getting executed but the panes are not enabled.

I would appreciate any help in getting the panes enabled somehow.

how to automaticaly enable 10 features for a new created site collection

Dear all,

I was trying to have the new created sites with several features enabled by default. Any help on this would be much appreciated. Further more, if this is only possible with a lot of programming knowledge (what I don't have), is there a way to enable 10 features with one click after the site is created (say batch file or powershell)?

Thanks in advance,

Programmatically activate SharePoint Server Enterprise Site Collection features

As my solution requires the enterprise features I'm required to activate them. Right now I'm doing it manually through "site settings -> site collection features", but I want to do it automatically when activating an other part of my solution. I've used PowerShell to see the difference for "Get-SPFeature -site myurl" before and after activating the enterprise feature by hand, but there're at least 10 site collection features being activated through this one click step.

Is there a list of features which are part of the SharePoint Server Enterprise Site Collection features or is there an easier way to activate them all at a time instead of doing it one by one programmatically.

Missing "SharePoint Server Enterprise Site Collection Features" in Site COllection Feature

All collection sites seem to be missing on the "SharePoint Server Enterprise Site Collection Features" in Site COllection Feature. However, I have PowerPivot uninstalled and reinstalled. Not sure if this could be the reason for it.

ITextSharp > Enable Extended Features

Hello I have a pdf template with a form with the Extended features enable. After filling in the fields of this form using iTextSharp, a user with acrobat reader gets the error message:

"This document enabled extended features in Adobe Reader. The document has
been changed since it was created and use of extended features is no longer
available. Please contact the author for the original version of this

I have been looking for a solutions and saw a couple posts on the subject so...
Is there a way to keep the extended features enabled and modifying the pdf with iTextSharp ?

Don't do what I did - Install SP with Enterprise Features on a standalone, non-domain computer

I tried installing standalone with SQL Express. From early on, I would find configuration issues in CA (the charming red bar in CA), dependencies, timer issues, farm account and service account issues, and once I turned on Enterprise features, it got worse. I lost the ability to edit user profiles, I would loose access to certain features intermittently. So then I wanted to correct the situation, by installing AD afterwards. Lot's of fiddling, and server renames, and what have you. Finally, I decided to re-install a VM from scratch.

That ended all the suffering - for now  ;-)

Here is what I did:

This time, I installed W2K8R2, AD, Windows Updates, VS (which includes 3.51 framework), Office Plus, SPD32, SQL2k8R2 (full EP), and ran the SP Setup (prereqs first, then the install). Before I ran the SP Config Wizard, I added one regular Domain User Account with "Delegate Control" of "Replicating directory changes". This user is not in the Administrators group. You add this account to your SQL logins with dbcreator and securityadmin roles, and you supply this account when running the SP Configuration Wizard for a Full Farm install (still single computer). This is not exactly best practice, as you would add more service accounts (see also http://www.sharepointproconnections.com/article/sharepoint/Least-Privilege-Service-Accounts-for-

Unable to install SQL Server Enterprise on Windows 7

Hi All,

I am trying to install sql server 2005 enterprise 64-bit edition on Windows 7 Home Premium. After repetitive attempts, the set up do not install the sql server instance.

There are 2 CD's - I have tried changing their order of run. But it only install workstation components and not database engine/AS/IS/RS. I come across warnings to install sql server sp3 after sql server installation. So I also installed sp3 but still no instance is found on my laptop.

When I click on SQL Server Surface Area Configuration it says no instance found on this computer. Even when I uninstall SQL Server it asks for uninstalling workstation components only and says no sql server instance found.

Is their any known compatibility issue. If yes, which sql server 2005 edition works with windows 7.

Please help with me with the solution.

Thanks in advance.

SharePoint 2010: What if some users need enterprise features and others do not?

There is an SharePoint 2007 FAQ (http://sharepoint2007.microsoft.com/how-to-buy/Pages/faq.aspx) that answers the question with this response: "Once the Enterprise features of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 are enabled, every client accessing Enterprise functionality on that server, or servers in a farm, is required to have an Enterprise CAL in addition to their Standard Client Access Licenses."

We have a SharePoint 2010 farm but no user has leveraged any of the Enterprise features such as InfoPath Form Services.  My IT department states that in order to provide certain user's access to the Enterprise features a second instance (with new additional web servers) would have to be deployed to provide a way to segregate the Standard CAL users from the Enterprise CAL users.

Is this correct?  I understand this would be true if using SharePoint 2007 but if using SharePoint 2010 does this still hold to be true?  Does the Service Application Architecture feature of SharePoint 2010 allow those features (such as InfoPath Form Services) to be enabled without running a whole other farm to support the Enterprise users?

Thanks, in advance, for the response(s)!
