Office 2003: Bring the Power of Visual Studio .NET to Business Solutions Built with Microsoft Office

Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for the Microsoft Office System is a new technology that brings the advanced features of Visual Studio .NET and the .NET Framework to apps built on Microsoft Word 2003 and Excel 2003. Now you can use Visual Basic .NET and C# to write document-centric, managed code solutions that run in-process with Word 2003 or Excel 2003, taking advantage of the rich object models they expose. Along the way you get the benefits of the managed environment in which a fully compiled .NET-based application executes, including code access security.

Class Templates: Bring the Power of Templates to Your .NET Applications with the CodeDOM Namespace

In the .NET Framework, the CodeDOM object model can represent code in a variety of languages. This article examines how source code templates written with the Framework's System.CodeDom and System.CodeDom.Compiler namespaces allow developers to create reusable boilerplate source code that can be shared between projects. Components designed via templates improve productivity and shorten development time. Here C++-style classes and templates are simulated and code is generated in multiple languages through the creation of CodeDOM object graphs. Compiling object graphs and formatting output code are also explained.

Visual Studio .NET: Managed Extensions Bring .NET CLR Support to C++

If you're a longtime C++ programmer, the thought of migrating to Visual Studio .NET might make you wary at first. However, a new feature of Visual C++, the managed extensions for C++, allows you to build apps with the .NET Framework. When you use managed C++, your code is handled by the common language runtime (CLR). This provides advanced features like garbage collection, interoperability, and more. This article explains why you'd want to use the managed extensions, how to use them, how to mix managed and unmanaged code, and how your managed code can interoperate with programs written in other languages.

Cannot bring forward and display different grid views within a master grid

I have 3 grids within a master grid, all of the same size. When designing on WPF Designer VS 2010, there is no way I can scroll and bring forward a different grid. Or am I missing something.  Clicking on Document Outline does not help. The properties pane changes to the new grid, but the designer still shows the old grid. Help would be appreciated.

Cluster service takes 1 hour to bring service and applications online

We had a 1 hour outage with our production SQL cluster recently and I have been trawling through the Event Logs to try and find an explanation.  I know that a network failure actually triggered the outage, during a switch upgrade no network was available and so the cluster shut down:

"This cluster node has no network connectivity. It cannot participate in the cluster until connectivity is restored. "

There are lots of enties telling me that the cluster service is stopping and one saying that DTC is terminating unexpectedly which is fine, but then I see a log enty:

"The system failed to flush data to the transaction log. Corruption may occur"

This is worrying - how can I be sure that my data is not corrupted?

I can see the SQL Server and SQL Server Agent services '"terminate unexpectedly" and shortly after that I can see the cluster service entering the running state and various attempts to bring clustered applications online.  These attempts give the following messsage:

"The Cluster service failed to bring clustered service or application 'SQL Server (INSTANCENAME)' completely online or offline. One or more resources may be in a failed state. This may impact the availability of the clustered service or application."

Does this mean that the cluster service does no

Need Search to bring back metadata for Specific Columns

I have been looking at the Search facility in SharePoint Online 2007, as the standard out of the box is no good for me.

I have modified the xsl to make it look pretty, but now i need to work with the metadata so that it is bringing back the column information for my document library when i search using a keyword, for example If i have a column called 'Category' i want this to be brought back in the metadata of the search results.

I am using SharePoint online 2007 so any tips would be great, I am right in thinking i would need to go down the content type and custom scope route?

Thanks.

Using Cursors to bring one table's rows into another table's columns.

hi

i have 2 tables; the first one records information about shapes. this table has 3 fields where the primary key is a composite one with the shapeID and DimensionName.

one shape has 3 records in this table since there can only be 3 values as DimensionName for a given shape (weight, price and color)

the second table has the shape ID , weight, price and color as its columns. where the shapeID is the primary key.

now what i need to do is i need to map the first table's 3 columns in to 1 column of the second table. i am allowed to use cursors for this.

can anyone please explain how can a approach thisproblem?? code snippets are warmly welcomed. :)

please referr the image for further clarification. to view the image, click this link http://i53.tinypic.com/2rcal2x.png

thanks in advance

Can't bring database back online after backup

Hey forummers,

I'm a little frustrated here. I have turned the default database offline then used windows explorer to copy the database to another location but when I tried to take the database online again this error came out:

Cannot open user default database. Login failed.
Login failed for user 'Zephere-pc\Zephere(JuLian Yong)'. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 4064)

The cause is that the default database is set offline, How do I bring it back online agian?

Cluster Fail-over - Failed to bring secondary node online ??

Hi

Server : Windows server 2008

DB Server : SQL Server 2008 (SP1)

Here are the series of events which happened.

1.) Event ID: 1135

Cluster node 'XYZ' was removed from the active failover cluster membership. The Cluster service on this node may have stopped. This could also be due to the node having lost communication with other active nodes in the failover cluster. Run the Validate a Configuration wizard to check your network configuration. If the condition persists, check for hardware or software errors related to the network adapters on this node. Also check for failures in any other network components to which the node is connected such as hubs, switches, or bridges.

2.) Event ID: 1049

Cluster IP address resource 'SQL IP Address 1 (XYZ)' cannot be brought online because a duplicate IP address '10.9.8.113' was detected on the network.  Please ensure all IP addresses are unique.

3.) Event ID: 1069

Cluster resource 'SQL IP Address 1 (XYZ)' in clustered service or application 'SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER)' failed.

4.) Event ID: 1049

Cluster IP address resource 'Cluster IP Address' cannot be brought online because a duplicate IP address '10.9.8.112' was detected on the network.  Please ensure
