I'm using the ASP.NET Configuration tool to add User management to my application. I didn't like how the aspnet_Profile table stored all user profile info as blobs of information though. I prefer having each profile value as a separate column in a db table. So, I went ahead and created a table with a few columns, including the UserId uniqueidentifier column that I want to link back to the aspnet_Users table. I set up the relationship between the Users table and my profile table as a 1 to 0..1 relationship.
What I'm stuck on right now is how do I initially create the profile record so I can use it for editing it's values. When a user registers to my application, I want a new record to be created in my Profile table with the UserId to be the same as it was created in the Users table. I'm totally stumped though. A new record in my custom profile table should populate with a UserId, so when I choose to update the profile, it has a reference to which profile record to update. So, how can I get this record with UserId to be created when a user registers?
