New Item Form with Business Data Column SharePoint 2010

I am suprised that this issue still exist with the new sharepoint 2010, I was trying to create a new page, and I inserted a "New Item Form", this list contain a business data column, when I insert a new item, the business data coulmn doesn't get saved, this issue was there in MOSS 2007

How can I pass parameters to my Business Data Column?

I have a custom list in which I have created a  Business Data Column that pulls data from a web service.  I have written the ADF file, it is installed on the server and I can get to the service's fields via the Business Data Type picker. However, and this is the part I can't figure out how to do: the web service requires 2 parameters be passed to it.  These parameters exist in other fields of the list item.  How do I make that association and pass those parameters?  Is this possible?

Also, I have not delved into using Visual Studio yet for SharePoint development, so I only have the UI and Designer as my tools.  I am on MOSS 2007.

Edit - I found this article: http://sharepointmagazine.net/technical/administration/everything-you-need-to-know-about-bdc-part-4-of-8.  Toward the bottom it explains how to do a 1:1 mapping of the list item to, in his example, the database item.  This is similar to what I need to do, except mine is a web service and it requires two parameters to identify it.

meta column, business data picker no search

I have imported the following stuff:
There are more types but I don't think you guy's are interested in that.
What happens in the "Account" picker at a metadata column is the dropdown does not contain items and search does not work.

    <Entity EstimatedInstanceCount="0" Name="Account">
        <Property Name="Title" Type="System.String">name</Property>
        <Identifier TypeName="System.String" Name="[accountid]" />
        <Method Name="Getdbo.[FilteredAccount]">
            <Property Name="RdbCommandText" Type="System.String">Select [accountid],[accountnumber],[name],[address1_line1],[address1_line2],[address1_line3],[address1_city],[address1_stateorprovince],[address1_postalcode],[address1_country],[emailaddress1],[primarycontactid],[primarycontactidname],[telephone1],[businesstypecodename],[creditlimit],[creditonholdname],[customersizecodename],[customertypecodename],[description],[emailaddress2],[emailaddress3],[fax],[industrycodename],[numberofemployees],[revenue],[statecodename],[statuscodename],[tickersymbol],[websiteurl],[donotbulkemailname],[do

Column filter in Business Data List web part does not work for all fields

I have a BDC entity whose fields contain a variety of data – numbers, dates and strings.  When I use the business data list web part I find that some of the columns’ dynamic filtering (accessed from the list’s column header) doesn’t work.  For these problem fields, the filter values load correctly but when I select a value all records disappear.  Initially I thought this was limited to just string columns but there is one string column that does filter correctly.

Here are some things that may be useful to know:

1.       The datasource is a SQL view and all fields are varchar(255)

Specifying the finder method for a business data connected list column's object picker.

I have a BDC xml file which specifies a finder and a specific finder method. These both work fine.

What I want to do is configure the application so that when connected to a list column the object picker uses my finder method rather than the specific finder method which it defaults to. Is this possible?

For further explination if you look at the following image http://i56.tinypic.com/2n22o3m.jpg

If I want to find the department using the objet picker I have to type the full identifier.

If I click the browse (address book icon) to popup the browse window I can then use my finder method. I want the initial object picker to use my find method and if there multiple matches be able to pick one using the popup you get when the message "No exact match was found." is displayed.

Hope this makes some sense!

Cheers Dave

Rendering data with HTML tags in the DD Gridview for a selected column

I am having trouble finding out where and how to HTML Encode a cell's data on the Dynamic Data (v4.0) gridview of List.aspx.  As a simple case, suppose I have formatted cell data that is A<br/>B in the DB.    Obviously, I want A stacked on B in the cell.

It seems gridView1.HtmlEncode = true has gone away.

So maybe I'll try to catch it on the RowDataBound event:

protected void GridView1_RowDataBound(Object sender, GridViewRowEventArgs e)

            if (e.Row.RowType == DataControlRowType.DataRow)
                // Html Encode the cells

but this event never fires?

Has anyone figured out how to properly render HTML tags data in the List.aspx's GridView1?

If I figure this out, then I can add a MetaAttribute called something like [EncodeAsHtml(true)] and be on my way.  Thanks!

split one data column into many?

Hi, I've a database table contains survey questions and answers. But the problem is both 'question' and 'answer' are saved in the same column(like below).

SubmissionDate                                                          Submission

2010-02-15 14:53:59.657                     ***What's your pet's name?***  Lili ***Tell us about yourself*** I'm a teacher

2010-02-15 14:53:59.657                     ***What's your pet's name?***  Lucy ***Tell us about yourself*** I'm a five star cook

I'd like to use a simple datagrid to display the survey result, but I need to separate the submission column into multiple columns ('question' as column name, 'answer' as data)

the number of questions or questions being asked are different for each survey so they are not fixed.

Is it even possible to get something like this below in a gridview?

Business Data Error: System.OverFlowException

I have a Business Data Catalog file I've uploaded to connect to our back end Firebird DBMS through ODBC.

The SharePoint server is MOSS 2007 x64. The web front end server(s) all have an x64 Firebird Engine and ODBC driver with verified connectivity to Firebird.

When I use one of the methods, I can see connections being made to our Firebird server and the query being passed. I know the query returns results (it's a stored procedure with no parameters), but I get the following error "An error occurred while retrieving data from MROTest1. Administrators, see the server log for more information" in IE. If I look in the server logs, I see (12\Hive\Logs)

Exception handed to HandleRuntimeException.HandleException System.OverflowException: Arithmetic operation resulted in an overflow.     at System.Data.Odbc.OdbcDataReader.GetData(Int32 i, SQL_C sqlctype, Int32 cb, Int32& cbActualOut)

Regarding Business data catalog in SharePoint

Hi All,

          I am using business data catalog to display the records present in the Active Directory based on the user selection of samAccountName. Since the number of records present in Active Directory are more than 3000 the user has to iterate through each page to get to a particular record. I want to add a kind of filter to my Definition file that user can search for a particular samAccountName from the list of samAccountName displayed in the business data list web part. I am using office server SDK by microsoft to generate the application definition file.

Any help regarding this will be appreciated.

Use BDC data in list as multi-select column

I have a document library that uses values from another system for its metadata.  Right now, we copy the values from the primary system into SharePoint so users can choose them.  I want to find a way to use the BDC connection that I have set up to automatically pull those values.  The problem is that the current metadata is set to multi-select.  So, I have a file that is in the library and it can be used for multiple clients - clients is a column in my library and users can select many entries.  When I set up a column to pull BDC data, it only allows single entry.  Does anyone have any ideas?
