Invisible parts by browser refresh

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 21, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

In my .aspx page, I use a div including some repeaters and datalists without update panel.

I bind all of them in page_load when Not IsPostBack condition is met.

by default page is ok but if I push refresh button on browser regardless which browser or simply push F5 it shows header but not that div.

I do not understand why.

Using browser / URL to load report, with rc:Toolbar=false, report does not refresh

I've got an app that hosts a browser control. In it, I loop through a set of reports (displaying a dashboard of them). The problem is, I don't want the toolbar to display, so I'm using rc:Toolbar=false. This gets the toolbar to not display, but the problem is, the reports don't refresh (I have timestamps in the reports, and they remain the same).

I'm not caching the reports- I have them set to the default setting of run the report each time.

So, how can I get both the toolbar hidden AND the report to be refreshed? I tried looking at the stylesheets, but can't figure out how to hide the entire report toolbar using those.

Browser refresh and duplicate insert,...again

Hi Guys,

I have "duplicate ID insertion when user refreshes page" problem.

I looked and looked but can't find a quick fix (response.redirect to the page again is just
not an option,...want to keep the UI without flickering controls ..ajax used here) nor do I
want to add new columsn to the database.

page.IsPostback does not solve the issue either, since it is not a postback we are dealing with here.

I just wonder how the brwoser "refresh" triggers my button1.click sub in the first place - since
the button is not clicked. I guess the http header somehow has the click event in it.
Is there a, easy (vb.net) way to detect "refresh" and avoid the instertion.

i read the following "One way would be to use AJAX and call a web service / page method to handle the insert. "
Any suggestions how that would work?

How refresh parent page from popup on Firefox & IE browser

I have used following codes and it will worked on IE but not in FireFox browser

1] <script langauge=""javascript"" type=""text/javascript"">window.opener.location=window.opener.location;</script>

2] window.opener.location.reload(true);

3] <script langauge=""javascript"" type=""text/javascript"">window.opener.location.href='../parentpage';</script>"

4] window.opener.location.reload(true);window.opener.location.href=window.opener.location;

Folder structure of pages are as like -

main folder (ABC) ---> sub folder 1(PQR) ---> parent page ( which needs to refresh )

                                 sub folder 1(PQR) ---> sub folder 2(XYZ) ----> popup page

From above structure, I need to refersh parent page which is in PQR folder from popup page which is in XYZ folder under PQR folder.

Please provide me javascript code which will work for both browser as IE and Firefox

some invisible parts within collapsible panel extender

It sometimes sucks when logicaly one can not find an understandable reason for Asp problems or finding them out always needs a

knowledge which is not available on documentations.

Well problem here is that I use Collapsible panel extender to show a repeater inside a fixed positioned div.

what I get as a result is just header and Item template of repeater. no footer template.

even puting content of footer panel outside repeater but inside collapsible panel doesn't solve the problem.

my code is as following :

<div id="rbkorgenpnl"   style ="position : fixed ; top : 0px; left : 490px; z-index : 100px; ">

<asp:Panel ID="rbkorgExtPnl" runat ="server" Width ="400px" >
<div id="Div7" class="rbkorgddpaneltab">
<a href="#"><span>

Rabatkorgen  <img src="images/css/print0.jpeg" width ="20px" height ="20px" /> <img src="images/css/sms.jpeg" width ="20px" height ="20px"/></span></a>
<asp:Panel ID="rbkorgColPnl" runat ="server" Width ="400px" style="background-image :url(images/frame/bg_rabattkorgen.png); background-repeat :no-repe

Cannot refresh OLAP-based data in Excel Services workbook in browser (SP 2010 / Project Server 2010)

In SharePoint 2010, Project Server 2010, Business Intelligence Center, upon attempting to refresh OLAP data in an Excel chart in the browser, the following error appears:

An error occurred during an attempt to establish a connection to the external data source.  The following connections failed to refresh:

My ODC Connection Name

We have loaded and configured Project Server 2010 according to spec (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee662109.aspx).  Excel Services is configured according to spec (global settings, trusted file locations, trusted data providers and trusted data connection libraries).  The Secure Store Service is configured with the ProjectServerApplication target application.

Non-OLAP data refreshes of spreadsheet data work fine in the browser.  OLAP data refreshes in the Excel client itself work fine.  Only the OLAP refreshes in the browser fail.  The problem occurs whether using a Microsoft ODC or one that we created (saved in a trusted location).

The ULS log has only one error, which is:

Displaying SharePoint lists in Web Parts

When you create a built-in or custom list in Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services, Windows SharePoint Services creates a Web Part, a basic building block of a SharePoint site, to display that list. These Web Parts are called List View Web Parts. Windows SharePoint Services stores List View Web Parts in the site collection Web Part gallery. (The site collection Web Part gallery is the most central gallery of Web Parts for a work group. By default, the gallery name is the name of the site, such as "Our Team Site Web Part Gallery." )

Six easy ways to customize your site using Web Parts in SharePoint

Becoming familiar with Web Part customization techniques gives you a range of page-customization choices. For example, you can customize your site's home page so that it displays the specific information that your team needs. You can rearrange the list items on the home page, add lists, and even change the images on the home page. As you become more familiar with Web Part Page customization techniques, you can build interactive Web Part Pages that makes the data in lists more dynamic and useful, and you can add new Web Parts that provide access to external data and Web services.

SharePoint Tutorial - Web Parts

A page in SharePoint is comprised of web parts the exist within zones. Web parts are available for just about everything. For example in the page below there are four web part highlighted by different colors. The purple web part displays a short list of the new announcements stored in the annoucements library. The pink web part displays events from a calendar within the site. The green web part displays an image from a location the user specifies. The gray web part displays a list of links from the links list on the site.

Visual Studio Add-In for Web Parts Generation

This article will introduce you to a new Visual Studio 2005/2008 add-in that can be used for Web Parts generation based on a prepared ASCX control/template. The add-in should allow Web Part developers to easily make Web Parts using the Visual Studio HTML designer. It should save you a lot of time and make Web Part development an enjoying experience even for beginners.

This article is written in the form of a step-by-step tutorial. It will give beginners a chance to successfully make, deploy, and try their first Web Parts, and will save some time for advanced users as you can always run into challenges when working with SharePoint.

Sandboxed Solutions for Web Parts in SharePoint 2010

SharePoint 2010 provides a new sandboxed environment that enables you to run user solutions without affecting the rest of the SharePoint farm. This environment means that users can upload their own custom solutions without requiring intervention from administrators, and without putting the rest of the farm at risk.

Writing Custom Web Parts for SharePoint 2007

As I mentioned in an earlier blog post, SharePoint 2007 is built on top of ASP.NET 2.0, which means you can now use ASP.NET 2.0 features (Forms Authentication, Master Pages, Membership, Site Navigation, New Data Controls, etc) when building SharePoint sites. This is true for both the new Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 version (which will be a free download) as well as Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (which costs money).

Viewing Reports with SharePoint 2.0 Web Parts

Reporting Services provides several Web Parts that work with specific versions of a report server and in particular deployment modes. If you want to access report server content on a SharePoint site from a native mode report server, use the SharePoint 2.0 Web Parts that are included with Reporting Services. Instructions for installing and using the 2.0 Web Parts are provided in this topic.

How to setup a Mobile Browser Emulator in Windows Mobile 6:

In the following tutorial, I cover the process of Setting up Windows Mobile 6 for Mobile Browser Emulation using the Microsoft Device Emulator. This enables a user to experience Windows Mobile 6 on a PC via Emulation without even owning a Windows Mobile 6 product. It can be a great way to test drive Windows Mobile 6 before purchasing a product with it installed. In our case, it allowed us to Emulate Windows Mobile Browsing so that we could optimize our sites for the Mobile viewing audience. Installation and Emulation is simple and fairly straight forward.

*.axd script references not being rendered to browser

I'm running VS2010 with .net 4.0, and am running into issues with the .net ajax script tags mysteriously not being rendered to the browser.

So far I've reduced it to a scenario where I set the DataSourceID property of a databound control.  More specifically, I've only tested it on a Gridview and a DropDownList.

This can be reproduced fairly easily on my machine by following these steps:

1. Create a new empty Web Application Project

2. Create a new Web Form

3. Add a ScriptManager inside the form

4. Add a DropDownList and a DataSource (I used an ObjectDataSource)

5. Set the DataSourceID property of the DropDownList to the ID of the DataSource.  This can be done either declaratively on the .aspx page, or in the code behind in the aspx.cs page, and both produce the same results.

6. Open the page in a browser and watch as you get a javascript error stating "Sys is not defined" and notice that the page source contains no script tags referencing *.axd scripts.

Here's my source code showing my set up:

<%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="Default.aspx.cs" Inherits="ScriptResourceFAIL.Default" %>

reference from menubuttons to text parts in article on the same page

Hi, I'm searching now for hours but couldn't find it.Cry

In my menu i have several buttons which (by a <a href..) should go the a part of an article that is in the same form.

Menu button : What is a database should go to the page default.aspx and in there is an article published.
A part of this article is having a piece of text about "what is a database"

Menu button: how to make a query should go to this same article in the same page but then to the part that is have the piece about the query. The next could be an example of what i'm doing:

    <li><a href="default.aspx ?????>what is a database</a></li>
    <li><a href="default.aspx ?????>what is a query</a></li>

Where my question marks are, there should be a connection to that particular piece of text.
In each article part there is an ID="text1" and the second part id="text2"

How shoudl i do that, Should i use a question mark.
Please give me some guidance how to structure the <li> statement or a pointer where I can read about it.
