I was asked today to setup a gridview that the user can chose columns to add or remove. Granted, we will need to but a limit of how many they can add and remove to help make sure that the styling of the page still looks correct, but here is the request, any suggestions or tutorials woudl be great.
We have a search page, you can chose to search on different types of data.. and based on the type, determines the result layout.. since im using objectdatasource, im building the output dynamically.
So there is one particular search that actuall has about 15 columns of data returning.. At the moment only about 10 of those are displayed because of the styling, so what they have asked is, by default we show the results with say 5 columns out of the 15, 5 columns fit nice in our page no matter what columns are displayed..
So say my default 5 columns are not exactly the 5 i want to see.. they want to be able to chose to hide or show as many of 5 columns.. so they can pick to hide 2 columns and then pick 2 others in its place.. or just chose to hide 2 columns and thats it..
How can this be done? Is it something that i can just return all the columns to the gridview and ondatabound of the gridview i display or hide columns? I mean i have setup gridviews before to do this, but it wa
