IMPORT statement on difference machines

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 21, 2010    Points: 0   Category :.NET Framework

If this is not the correct area to post please let me know where it should be posted to

I am runing .NET CLR on three developer machines (using VS 2005 SP1, ASP.NET, VB.NET and a "web site project" if it matters).  All three have automatic references to system.drawing from the built in references ('property pages','references')...and indicate this comes from the GAC for system.drawing.  However on one machine (mine) I do not need to do an IMPORT system.drawing and I can build and compile the class normally.  On the other two, they will not build and compile the class without an IMPORT system.drawing.

Is there some other place where global imports are set that can explain the difference? Thanks.

I had compared the System A and System B machines in the following parameters :
1) System Resolution - 1024x768 (Same)
2) Microsoft Office Excel Versions - 2007 (Same)
3) Remote Desktop Login into System B from System A -- Reports are properly displayed
    Remote Desktop Login into System A from System B -- Reports are not properly displayed

What is the difference between "dynamic" and "object" keywords?

Let's take a quick look at the object keyword first. I'm not going to talk a lot about it because it's been around since C# 1.0. This keyword is nothing more than a shortcut for System.Object, which is the root type in the C# class hierarchy. (However, as Eric Lippert pointed out in his blog post, not everything in C# derives from object.) This is a powerful mechanism, since you can assign almost any value to instances of this type.

Import XML File to SQL Table

Here is a brief example of importing an XML file into SQL Server table. This is accomplished by using the BULK option of OPENROWSET to load the file, and then utilizing the XQuery capabilities of SQL Server to parse the XML to normalized table format. This example requires SQL server 2005 or SQL Server 2008.

First, the following XML is saved to XML file C:\Products.xml.

Passing Linq Statement between master and content page

I usually work with windows forms, and am just starting to work with ASP.Net, so appologies if this is a dumb question!

I have a master page which has a search button on it. The results of this are built up using a Linq statement and if there are any results, I want to display the results in a contents page.

On the masterpage, I have the following code:

Private _res

    Public Overridable ReadOnly Property SearchRes()
            Return _res
        End Get
    End Property

 Private Sub DoSearch()
   'some code to get a linq result

    If res.Any Then
            _res = res
            Server.Transfer("SearchResults.aspx", True)
            'no results
            LabelNoRes.Visible = True
        End If
 End Sub

On the SearchResults.aspx page I have this code.

Dim m As pxSite = CType(Page.Master, MasterPage)
        If m.SearchRes IsNot Nothing Then
            Label1.Text = "Results found = " & m.SearchRes.Count
        End If

m.searchRes is always nothing.

What am I doing wrong here?

xml import to database

Hello. I have XML document I use for backups..

I am using this code for importing XML to database:

protected void uvoziPodatkeXML(string backup, int tabela, string destinacijaTabela)
            DataSet reportData = new DataSet();

            FileStream filestream = File.OpenRead(lblPotIzvozi.Text + txtIme.Text + backup);
            BufferedStream buffered = new BufferedStream(filestream);

            //reportData.ReadXml(lblPotIzvozi.Text + txtIme.Text + backup);

            SqlConnection povezava = new SqlConnection(Convert.ToString(Session["cs"]));
            SqlBulkCopy sbc = new SqlBulkCopy(Convert.ToString(Session["cs"]), SqlBulkCopyOptions.KeepIdentity);
            sbc.DestinationTableName = destinacijaTabela;

But there is a problem when XML file is very large, larger than 50MB, it lasts forever to import to database.. I was searching over google, and saw that datasets are terrible slow for this operation.. I found some other methodes for use, but don't know there are no examples, that could help me.

Did someone work on this before?

thanks, yevgeni

ReportViewer :: Failed to enable constraints. But my statement is valid!!

  • A
  • n error has occurred during report processing.
      • Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.
        • Failed to enable constraints. One or more rows contain values violating non-null, unique, or foreign-key constraints.

    Why do I keep getting this error, even when not using any data on the report. When I run the query in SQL server I get a resultset. However when I try to render the report I get this error.

    Whats wrong with this statement

    Im trying to updated some old ASP pages with some new .net pages and cant seem to get this update statement to work. I need to update the current ASP code below and then once thats working im going to use that same statement in a procedure for all our new .Net pages..

    So can anyone see what im doing wrong by inserting the 2nd column to the update statement?

    strSqual = "update tas set date_completed='" & TransDate & ", trans_id=" & InsertedTransID & "' where date_completed is null and sercontract_id="& strContractID & " and DATEDIFF(dd,task_due_date,'" & strProcDate & "')<=14"

    I am trying to add an extra column to the update, but not sure if the syntax is correct.

    If Statement Issue

    This is very strange to me. I have spent 2hrs looking into this inside out , but dont seem to get it

    I have an if statement that inserts data into the database. But i check to make sure the name is not entered twice. Now when the name is already in the db, then it should insert else put out a message saying its already in the db

    My code works fine except that  when its not in the db, its inserts but still puts out the message that says "Name is already in use" Not sure if am not seeing something. But thought i did bring it to the forum. Here is my code...Pretty simple

    Protected Sub btnAdd_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnAdd.Click

            Dim objConnection As SqlConnection
            Dim objCommand As SqlCommand
            Dim strSQLQuery1 As String

            ' If there's nothing to Add for then don't search
            ' o/w build our SQL Query and execute it.
            If String.IsNullOrEmpty(txtAdd.Text) Or Leadbank.SelectedValue = "000" Then

    statement cannot appear outside of a method body

    XML Schemas: Take Advantage of Existing External XML Schemas with a Custom Import Framework in ASP.N

    Over the years, many industry-standard XML schemas and dialects have been developed. These industry-specific schemas embrace the original purpose of XML and are extremely valuable in promoting and supporting B2B interaction. Unfortunately, the ASP.NET Web Services runtime does not allow developers to directly reference external schemas from within their XML Web Services interface (the WSDL file). This article builds an external schema framework as an extension to the ASP.NET Web Services runtime to enable you to reference external schemas within your XML Web Service interface.
