how to convert date type in SQL query output ?

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 21, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

In my database when anyone registers - By default the registration time is saved as UTC universal time zone.

But i want to display everything on the website in (GMT-05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada)

I am using this SQL QUERY to display registration date:

SELECT TOP (5) Username, CustomerID,  RegistrationDate = CONVERT(VARCHAR(12),RegistrationDate,107)  FROM Customer ORDER BY RegistrationDate DESC

And, i am displaying it like this:

<asp:Label ID="nameLabeldate" runat="server" Text='<%# Eval("RegistrationDate") %>' />

The problem is the output is getting displayed as : 10/20/2010 1:36:01 PM

I know RegistrationDate is datetime stamp that's why i am getting output in this format.

But i want to display RegistrationDate as: Oct 20, 2010 at 1:36pm -> according to (GMT-05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada) ORDER BY RegistrationDate in Desc (top most will be last registered user)

I need help with sql query by which i should be able to accoplish my desired output..please help...

Need to convert query string(date - 09/15/2010) to a text format - yyyymmdd

I am fairly new to C # and need some assistance with a form page.  I have created a simple form that requires the user to select a beginning date and ending date.  I then pass the values to my code behind page via query strings.  I have them passing, but I need the format to be change to a different format.  Unfortunately the database does not use the standard date format.  It requires the date to be in a text format as YYYYMMDD.Form: <tr> <td> Beginning Date:</td> <td><asp:TextBox runat="server" ID="begDate"></asp:TextBox> <asp:Image ID="Image2" ImageUrl="~/images/calendar_schedulehs.png" runat="server" /></td> </tr> Code Behind: protected void createReport_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { StringBuilder url = new StringBuilder("Report/TopCustomer.aspx?"); url.Append("BegDate=" + begDate.Text); url.Append("&EndDate=" + endDate.Text); url.Append("&Brnch=" + ddlLocation.SelectedValue); Response.Redirect(url.ToString()); Current URL: TopCustomer.aspx?BegDate=09/15/2010&EndDate=09/30/2010&Brnch=300I need to have the above URL change to:TopCustomer.aspx?BegDate=20100915&E

Conversion from string to type 'Date' is not valid

Im receiving a strange error Error Message: Conversion from string "15/08/2010 22:21:35" to type 'Date' is not valid.

I know this is generally down to cultural date formats etc, however the reason this is strange is it just randomly occured twice in the last week, the website has been running since october and nothing has changed,

The error constantly occured until the IIS was reset and recompilled the site, its been running fine since, however im just trying to figure out what could cause such an error to occur.

I've narrowed it down to a line of code which is:

bktime = DReader.Item("Bktime").ToString

bktime = Year(CDate(bktime)) & "-" & fmt(Month(CDate(bktime)), 2) & "-" & fmt(Day(CDate(bktime)), 2)

Has anyone else encountered this randomly occuring and is there anything i can put in place to prevent this in future?

Convert Update Date/Time to VB.NET

I was wondering if someone could convert this into VB.NET for me.  I'm not a PHP pro and not entirely sure what's happening here nor do I know how to get this to display the same way.

The new field is within a DetailsView, so you can give me example code as well, I'll greatly appreciate it.

Thanks.. -Jeff

INSERT statement with OUTPUT clause, referencing outer query columns

I have a problem to solve and I have run into what appears to be a limitation of TSQL.  I have looked around and did not find much on this subject, so I apologize if this duplicates another post.  I am using SQL Server 2008. From what I have read on BOL, when you are performing a DELETE or UPDATE statement, you can reference unaffected columns from the outer query in the OUTPUT clause, but this is apparently not allowed in an INSERT statement. I am working on a process that will create new copies of existing records - essentially, the user can create a whole new copy of a set of records, and the process requires that I track both what the original PK values were and the corresponding PK values for the new rows. This example will hopefully spell out my problem.  This script shows two tables, [Primary_Object] and [Secondary_Object].  Not shown here are multiple tables that rely on [Secondary_Table], which is why I have to be able to track this info. This first script shows the setup of the tables involved and the data involved: /* create test data */ create table primary_object ( primary_object_id int identity(1,1), parent_object_id int, name char(1)) create table secondary_object ( secondary_object_id int identity, primary_object_id int, amount money) insert into primary_object (parent_object_id, name) select 0, 'A' insert into secon

Unable to enter the product key in the Convert License Type page (textbox is read-only)

We installed both WSS and MOSS SP2 and had planned to follow the manual fix for the known issue that the patch unexpectedly activates a trial expiration.  However, the textbox to enter the product key is read-only.  We have tried accessing this page using the normal administrator credentials as well as the farm account; no success.The SP2 issue and manual fix is detailed here, http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/971620We were able to experience this problem on a farm running the Feb 2007 cummulative patch (version so it's not related to the SP.  But running the SP increasing the need to find the fix.Any help is appreciated,J. Analysis Service Oracle Number inconsistent Data Type for TABLE or Named Query

Dear Gurus, I'd VERY OLD PROBLEM. And I believe it addressed since 2006. When I design DataSource Views from Oracle Data Source. I found it return different oracle number data type for TABLE or NAMED QUERY   Provider Data Type Column Data Type Data Source View Data Type Oracle OLE DB Provider (OraOLEDB.Oracle.1) Table Number System.Int64   View Number System.Decimal   Named Querey Number System.Decimal Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle (MSDAORA.1) Table Number System.Double   View Number System.Double   Named Query   1 System.Int64   Named Query   1.1234 System.Int64 Althought I know I can fix IT via MANUALLY EDIT DATASOURCE VIEW XML SOURCE. But I don't think this is a better solution. Is anybody have ideas ?  Wilson
