Problem with using ajax controls

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 21, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

I have a problem with using gridview, scriptmanager and other controls. My visual studio 2010 says: "Element 'scriptmanager' is not a known element. This can occurif there is a compilation error in the website, or the web.config file is missing."

Visual studio is complaining on updatepanel, gridview, scriptmanager and some others. I've searched the net for this, and some people say this can happen if you use masterpages, others say that there could be some missing lines in the web.config file. I can't really find a example on how the web.config should look like, neether can I find how to solve the issues with masterpages.

Does anyone out there know of a good and informative article that i can read, or maybe try to explain what i can do and what the issue may be?

here's my web.config content:

Problem registering client side script to interact with AJAX controls

Im using some animationExtenders in my project. The thing is, the objects to be animated are created programmatically, hence i need to also build programmatically the javascript code that will interact with them.It runs properly but, when i interact with these animated controls and the javascript functions are supposed to get to work, i keep getting the usual run-time error saying that the javascript functions are not defined. But, if i check the final html code generated, i can see how all the controls i built programmatically are there ,as well as the script.Tried both RegisterStartupScript and RegisterClientScriptBlock, no luck.Any advice? thanks in advance

Need help regarding C# / AJAX Dynamic Controls creation

radiobuttons is assigned before page init..

public partial class Default : System.Web.UI.Page
//Assign values as a specific Dynamic WebControl Creation.
List<RadioButton> radioButtons = new List<RadioButton>();
List<CheckBox> checkBoxes = new List<CheckBox>();

Then I created a class that would dynamically create a table containing the available flights depending on session.. (See CallPageLoad())

The placeholder and button is inside the UpdatePanel...

on the button inside the update panel, (btnSelect)

i have this code which works...

protected void btnSelect_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)

Label1.Text = Convert.ToString(radioButtons.Count);

It detects the number of radiobuttons that were dynamically created...

But when I use the following code inside the BtnSelectClick event...

//PLS HELP.......
foreach (RadioButton button in radioButtons)
if (button.Checked == true)
Label1.Text = "You select... " + button;

It does not work even though t

Embed Youtube inside Ajax Html Editor- problem

When inserting a simple embed of youtube inside the ajax editor, on firefox and chrome problems occur. On the other hand on internet explorer 8 everything works fine. I found this solution http://www.nopcommerce.com/boards/t/4228/bug-in-ajax-html-editor.aspx .

My question is where do I find the DesignPanel.pre.js ?

Problem with Dynamic Controls

I have a custom user control that contains within it a repeater control. Inside this repeater I programmatically add another custom user control, which contains a text box and a custom validator. This final custom user control can be added any number of times depending on the application's logic. All of this is part of a wizard step.

When the user completes the step, if any of the data added to the text boxes is incorrect the validator gets fired on post back. However, because I can have any number of these controls added to the repeater, the user has to scroll down to see any of the incorrectly completed boxes.

Due to the controls being added dynamically it is not possible to use a validation summary control - I have tried!!! Therefore, is there away I can use JavaScript to position a cursor or to jump to each incorrectly completed textbox without the user needing to scroll down the page? For example, if there are 10 textboxes, and textboxes 8 and 9 have numbers inside them inside strings, then the JavaScript should jump textbox 9.

AJAX rating control on DataRepeater problem

 I am using a DataRepeater control to display records from a database. I have placed an AJAX rating control in the repeater. The control works fine for the first record in the data repeater but it does not work for the rest of the records. The problem is that the control renders fine on the screen but I cannot click it - the mouse changes when hovering over it, but the control does nothing, not even when I click it. The first item works ok though. Any ideas what could be the problem?

 Thanks a lot

Problem with list controls and update progress template

I have an update panel that surrounds a wizard control which I use in conjunction with a update progress control. Now my update progress control works perfectly, with my animated gif and div tag that lays over my wizard control when the user goes from step to step. However, there is a problem that I am struggling to solve. A number of my steps use controls like list boxes, and when the update progress control fires, the list control is not laying underneath my div an animated gif no matter how high a make my css z-index on the div.

Does anyone have a way of solving this?

Problem getting values next to each other from two separate CheckBoxList controls

Hi, I am using three CheckBoxList controls in ASP.NET Wizard control. CheckBoxList controls: <asp:CheckBoxList ID="cblLondonDates" runat="server" DataSourceID="SqlDataSource1" DataTextField="ShowDate" DataTextFormatString="{0:G}" DataValueField="ShowDate" ForeColor="#333333" CssClass="ShowDateMargin"></asp:CheckBoxList> <asp:CheckBoxList ID="cblSingleL" runat="server" DataSourceID="SqlDataSource2" DataTextField="size8" DataValueField="size8" ForeColor="#333333"> </asp:CheckBoxList> <asp:CheckBoxList ID="cblHalfL" runat="server" DataSourceID="SqlDataSource2" DataTextField="size6" DataValueField="size6" ForeColor="#333333"></asp:CheckBoxList>   cblLondonDates chackboxlist control shows dates generated from SQL table. cblSingleL an cblHalfL show table sizes. simple wfc and ajax problem

Good day,I wrote a very basic hello world wfc/ajax solution.C#public string sayHello(string name)    {        return "Hello " + name;    }JS:function go() {            tempuri.org.IService.sayHello("John", OnSuccess());        }        function OnSuccess(r) {            document.getElementById("result").innerHTML = r;        }All the plumbing is pretty much what all the dev sites say...but I am getting a curious result.If I put a break in OnSuccess and in sayHello functions. The onSuccess is hit before the sayHello - both are hit though so the wfc seems to be working its just that the onSuccess is being called straight away rather than after the return from the server.Help appreciatedKalCODE:<%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="Default.aspx.cs" Inherits="_Default" %> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head runat="server">

Ajax problem with IIS

I'm having a problem with a AJAX call that works against the VS development server but not against IIS. The culprit is the .post statement in the function below. The function is called when a button is clicked. The index action is not called when run against IIS. From what I read I'm 99% sure it has to do with the URL "Beast/Index".  function runReportMessage() { $("#runReport").html("Running the report. Please wait"); $("#financialDataBtnRun").attr("disabled", "disabled"); $("#bottomBtnRun").attr("disabled", "disabled"); $("#btnRun").attr("disabled", "disabled"); $("#hiddenSubmit").val("Run Report"); $.post("/Beast/Index", $("#beastForm").serialize(), function(result) { window.open(result.message); $("#runReport").html(""); $("#financialDataBtnRun").removeAttr("disabled"); $("#btnRun").removeAttr("disabled"); $("#bottomBtnRun").removeAttr("disabled"); }, "json"); }  I tried using the Url.Action but with no luck. This is the code that I tried. It's not working on the VS Development Server either.  var myLink = &#

AJAX update panel and update progress controls

I have writtena Crystal reports web application, that prompts ths user for parameters and then apply them and exports the report to a folder as .rpt and then display the report. I prompt the parameters on one screen and then display the report on another page. I have the AJAX update panel and update progress controls in the parameter page. When the user enters the parameters and click on ok, I export the report and then loads the report to a session report document and transfer the user to the second page where the report is displayed. I use the following code to do transfer to the seconds page. I have excluded the report load and parameter assign code here.rpt.ExportToDisk(ExportFormatType.CrystalReport, "c:\reports\testrep.rpt") Session("rpt") = New ReportDocument Session("rpt").load("c:\reports\testrep.rpt") Response.Redirect("show.aspx") In the second page I have the following: rptViewer.reportsource = Session("rpt") My problem is this works one time and then stops working the second. What I found out was it comes to the statement: Response.Redirect("show.aspx") But it does not even load the show.aspx page. It stays on the parameter page. There are no errors displayed. I could not see any errors when I debug the application also. And out of the blue it works

Problem with ASP.NET Ajax, Framework version 4.0 and the SeaMonkey browser...

I have a site that I'm upgrading to the 4.0 framework and I've come across an issue with asp.net ajax and the SeaMonkey browser. It seems like the script manager is not registering the scripts on the page in seamonkey (but it works fine in IE, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, and Safari). Now, if I change the user agent string in SeaMonkey to use the user agent string from any of those other browsers, it works fine. So I guess my question is does ASP.NET Ajax check the browser's user agent to determine what scripts to register and, if so, is it possible that SeaMonkey is not included in the list in the 4.0 framework (I should add that it's working fine in the 3.5 framework so it seems to me like this is a difference between the two framework versions).
