Hello, I am trying to create a listing for a ticket company. When the user(client) adds a new ticket to the listing, all the ticket info is saved into the database table, but I can't figure out how to get their clientID in the table with that post. For example, I have event, date, venue, row, section etc...all this info gets stored, but I need to have the clientID stored also, so the gridview can show the post when the client logs in/out from the app. Right now the only way the clientID is in the DB is because I manually put it there for development reasons. But, when the client adds a new item to their listings, it does not show until I put the ID in myself. I need the ID to insert in the CID column at the same time the rest of the info is stored.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Using MS Visual Web Developer 2010 Express, I'm trying to create a simple site where I can view how many people are currently viewing the page. So far I've added a Web Form called 'home.aspx' this will be the only page and it will contain the gridview that displays how many people are viewing (using the sql COUNT function). There's also the default web.config file which I havn't modified yet.
I've added a sqlexpress database called 'Users' and created a Table called 'viewers'. 'viewers' has collumns IP (varchar(50)) and Time (datetime). The goal is for the table to grow (INSERT users) each time a viewer views the page, and get smaller (DELETE the user) when each person leaves.
I'm kinda stuck now:
1) I dont know what I have to put in my web.config file to create my connection string to my database (all the tutorials are written for people who know all the system.web mumbo jumo).
2) What do I write in my VB code behind file to INSERT users (I'm guessing I just need their IP and Time?) when they come to the site.
3) What do I write in my VB code behind to DELETE users if they leave. (I think this is the harder part. I dont know how to tell the database to constantly be checking to see if some IP address is still viewing, and then delete t
I have an application with Logging application block but I need to add some extra info to the log table of logging db. Please tell me how to do this as I can add columns to the table, modify the store proc but from code behind how can I get it worked?
What is the best method in jQuery to add an additional row to a table as the row below a particular row?
I have a data table that contains some values for Certifications. This table can be updated in a different part of my application. On the web page I am currently working on, I would like to have check boxes appear for every value in the data table. I have been struggling with this trying to use a For Each loop and I cannot get it to work for anything. Any suggestions?
I am using the following Razor syntax to obtain my data (I know this works because I can display it in a WebGrid):
var db = Database.Open("MyConn");
I'am using dnamic entity with EF4. On a list page of a table, I would like to display a column containing information from a child table of the current element. Sample :
Order List :
Order Data | Required Date | Shipped Date | etc... | ... | Customer Name (foreign key with tostring() method override) | Customer Postal Code (Column that I want to add) |
I don't known how to do that. Is it possible ? Maybe I have to to create my own Metadata proxy that will add dynamicly a column on the MetaColumn list of the table.
Does someone have an easier or better idea ?
Thank you for any help.
We've been trying to fix this one for a couple years, and I'm just out of ideas, so any help is really appreciated!
We've got a fairly large, complex web application that uses Forms Authentication to authenticate users. Throughout the application we store and retrieve information about users in the Session object, and in some cases in cookies. In a couple places we check for the existence of the context, and if it's null we send the user back to the login page to re-establish the session.
Just a quick run-down of this web app: C#, .NET 3.5, IIS 6, ASP.NET State Service to manage session
As for the session timer, we use our own home-grown timer, which is basically a client-side timer, which is backed up by a check to the SQL database to see when their last activity was. This seems to work well for us. It's not perfect, but it allows us to notify the user before the session times out, and allows us to be certain we're not logging a user out before their 60 minutes of inactivity is up.
What's happening is that certain users are being logged out after just a few minutes. We've eliminated the timer as a cause and believe what's happening is the HttpContext.Current is null, so the user is logged out. We do not know why the HttpContext.Current is null, and I underst
