UAC in VS AddIn

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 20, 2010    Points: 0   Category :.NET Framework

Hi! I've built a VS AddIn for VS2010, but after I moved to Win7, the AddIn cannot write to the registry because of the UAC, and I cannot acces the Authentication-mode in the "My Project" to change the UAC elevation, nor can I specify a manifest file, so how can I enable registry changing?

Error installing SharePointRS (Reporting Services AddIn)

Hi.

I trying to install the SharePointRS AddIn on the SharePoint-Maschine. The installation runs and after the setup does something, it rollback the installation and informs me with just a message, that it was not successful. After searching for the installation log, I've found it in my temp folder. The error was:
"Install error: The 'Mapping' start tag on line 83 does not match the end tag of 'ByExtension'. Line 139, position 7.".
What means this error? How can I solve it?

Thanks!
Greetings, Anatoli.

System.AddIn, simultaneous multitouch interaction in multiple addins

Hello, I have built an application that is able to load several addins, each having their own process, each sending their own UI onto the application's UI. I now would like to enable simultaneous multitouch interaction in any of these AddIns' UIs. The problem is: when there is multitouch interaction ongoing in one of the addins' UI, the others do not seem to receive any event, even though I try to touch controls in them. My question is: is this even possible in the current form of the framework? Or does the input device (i.e. my touch screen) get somehow "captured" by the currently manipulated UI's process, thus preventing the others from getting any input at all? Antoine

Clr-AddIns saving addin settings

Hi, I am loading a UIElement from an addin which is used as the AddIns settings interface: private void Settings_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { SettingsWindow sw = new SettingsWindow(); FrameworkElement settingsUI = null; this.Dispatcher.Invoke((Action)delegate() { settingsUI = SelectedAddIn.PopulateSettingsIU(); }); sw.rootGrid.Children.Clear(); if (settingsUI != null) sw.rootGrid.Children.Add(settingsUI); sw.ShowDialog(); } This loads a UIElement that consists of the following: <UserControl x:Class="PakBusIPAddin.PakBusIPSettingsDialog" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:settings="clr-namespace:TestAddin.Properties" Height="400" Width="400" Unloaded="UserControl_Unloaded"> <StackPanel> <Label Content="This is a test dialog for the PakBus IP Settings"/> <GroupBox Header="NL100 Settings"> <Grid> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition Width="*"/> <ColumnDefinition Width="*"/> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <Grid.RowDefinitions> <RowDefinition Height=&

Using unmanaged DLL (installed in WinSxS) in VSTO Excel addin.

Hello, I have developed an Excel VSTO addin, written in C#. From the addin I make calls into unmanaged assembly through pinvoke. My unmanaged assembly is properly installed in Windows Side By Side cache (WinSxS). I can call its methods from other programs if I add the assembly as a dependency to an application manifest. Unfortunately I cannot make my addin find my unmanaged assembly. Every call throws a File Not Found exception. The only way that works is adding the unmanaged DLL as a dependency in excel.exe.manifest. I know this method is dirty and I don't want to use it. Even if I simply put my unmanaged DLL into my addin's directory, the addin can then find the DLL but not its dependent MFC libraries, so the calls still fail. I have tried adding MFC manifest as a dependency to my addin project but id didn't work. My question is: is there any way to make VSTO addin "see" WinSxS unmanaged DLL? Thank you, Jimmy Joe

System.AddIn AddInProcess and WPF

Hi,
  I figured that I could use the .NET AddIn model to start AddIns in their own process (with FullTrust). However when the AddIn returns an UI, I get the following exception in my code,

"The calling thread must be STA, because many UI components require this."

in the constructor for the AddIn

Here are the relevant parts of the code

In the addIn Host application

MyAddin addin = addinToken.Activate<MyAddin>(sharedProcess, AddInSecurityLevel.FullTrust);

In the addIn

[System.AddIn.AddIn("TheClock")]

public class Clock : Myddin

{

private ClockControl myUi;

[NEW] Media Center Addin x64: Microsoft.MediaCenter.GuideSubscribed

Sorry, have to post this thread again, because the original thread isn't accessibly anymore.

Hi,

I'm working on a Media Center Addin with the following references:
Microsoft.MediaCenter.Store (mcstore.dll)
Microsoft.MediaCenter.Guide (mcepg.dll)

I can access the ObjectStore (mcepg2-0.db),the Lineup and ScheduleEntry with:
ScheduleEntry e = channel.Service.GetScheduleEntryAt(DateTime.Now);

But this is working on x86 Windows only. If I run the project on an x64 machine ScheduleEntries are always return a NullRefrenceException. I had build the project as x86, x64 or Any. All code is working fine then, but ScheduleEntries are always return a NullRefrenceException on x64 machine.

channel and Service are != null, that's not the reason for the NullReferenceException

Any ideas?

System.Addin.Pipeline.FrameworkElementAdapters

I have a Windows 7 x64 machine and I'm trying to use System.Addin.Pipline.FrameworkElementAdapters, yet it doesn't show up at all. Yet when I download the wpf calculator sample from here. http://clraddins.codeplex.com/wikipage?title=Samples&referringTitle=Home

It shows up in the project. Has FrameworkElementAdapters been removed?

Managed Addin Framework UI Issues

Problem #1: An add-in UI cannot be rotated, scaled, skewed because of which the UI from addin is not getting contained in the container because of which it is blocking the controls.

Problem #2: When focus shifts between controls in an add-in UI, the GotFocus and LostFocus events are neither received nor raised by the host application because of which addin UI sometimes seen on top of other CONTROLS and get refreshed on Mousemove.

Visio Addin - issues with install and looking for additional information

Hi Folks

I tried to install the Visio Data mining addin to view DM models.  However,  I can't find it in menus or list of addin and I am struggling to find any information on the addin in general (beyond the basic install information).  It doesn't appear that the addin has been disabled (see screenshot ), but then again I can't actually see the add in the list of addins). I am assuming, if active, it would appear in the excel ribbon like the "Datamining" or "Analyze" menus items. Any suggestions on what may have gone wrong or  links to articles would be appreciated.

Thanks

Steve
