Tooltip location

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 20, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Windows Application

I have made an ownerdrawn tooltip showing 4 images just below the mouse location. I have tooltip for every product, and there can be many products on the screen. My problem is that if I select a product to the right of the form, then I will not be able to see the tooltip as it is out of bounds. I can find a location, but how can I draw the tooltip from a certain location to the left instead of drawing it to the right??

Here is my code.

    void imageToolTip_Popup(object sender, PopupEventArgs e)
      e.ToolTipSize = new Size(itemImage.Width * 2, itemImage.Height * 2);

    void imageToolTip_Draw(object sender, DrawToolTipEventArgs e)
      var rectAll = new Rectangle(0, 0, itemImage.Width * 4, itemImage.Height * 4);
      e.Graphics.FillRectangle(Brushes.White, rectAll);

      for (int count = 0; count < imageList1.Images.Count; count++) //

        Image image = imageList1.Images[count];
        if (count == 0)
          var rect0 = new Rectangle(0, 0, itemImage.Width, itemImage.Height);
          e.Graphics.DrawImage(image, rect0);
        if (count == 1)
          var rect1 = new Rectangle(0, itemImage.Width, itemImage.Width, itemImage.Height);
          e.Graphics.DrawImage(image, rect1);
        if (count == 2)
          var rect2 = new Rectangle(itemImage

Displaying Row Details Tooltip on GridView using JQuery

Continuing exploring JQuery! I decided to implement a feature to display some kind of details related to a row displayed on GridView. For example when displaying employees details on GridView some information might not fit in the GridView because it will make it huge and wide. These infomration can be diplayed as Tooltip. Or when you want to display a picture and some kind of formated text to be diplayed as tooltip when mouse hover on the image.

Create ToolTip for GridView Header

The following allows you to add a tooltip to the header links of your GridView, a feature that is lacking.

Tooltip for GridView Column Headers (ASP.Net)

I just wanted to add auto tooltips for my GridView headers. There are couple of ways but I don't want to use javascript and wanted to use simple 'title' attribute. It took couple of hours to get the working code supporting sortable columns. I thought it will be very useful for others. Here's the code and logic behind it.

Add tooltip to ASP.NET Datapager

Here is the sample code of javascript and data pager.

ASP.NET pager doesn't provide any direct support for adding tooltip to its different buttons . But there are some work arounds through which you can provide tooltips to ASP.NET data pager.

The structure of a simple data pager is as follows:

RenderDisabledButtonsAsLabels="true" ShowFirstPageButton="true" ShowPreviousPageButton="true"
ShowLastPageButton="false" ShowNextPageButton="false" />
NextPreviousButtonCssClass="command" />
RenderDisabledButtonsAsLabels="true" ShowFirstPageButton="false" ShowPreviousPageButton="false"
ShowLastPageButton="true" ShowNextPageButton="true" />

But How ever it provides CSS classes for all set of buttons. And in the page it is rendered as simple span and anchor link. If we are giving some unique class to all buttons present in the data pager and through javascript we can retrive the elements and we can assign Tool Tip to

jquery tooltip

I am trying to create a tooltip for a row in my template field of a gridview.  This is a snipet of my code -

<asp:TemplateField ItemStyle-width="30%"  ItemStyle-Wrap ="true">

                   <%# ((Dictionary<String, object>)Container.DataItem)["descrip"].ToString()%> <br />
                      <div class= "divLongDescrip" runat ="server" id="divLongDescrip" />
                   <div class="tooltip" runat ="server" id="divHelpInfoAsToolTip" style="float:right; background-color:#95c5de;" >
                   <asp:Label ID="lblHelpInfoAsToolTip" runat ="server" />
                  <asp:Label ID="lblModRemQty" runat ="server" />
                  <asp:CheckBoxList ID="chklstMod" runat ="server" AutoPostBack="true" OnSelectedIndexChanged ="changeChkModSelected" />

Gridview, guid ID, and Location

Presently I have a gridview, I'm in the process of populating the gridview. One colunm "Location" is displayed as the guid ID.  I need for that colunm to be displayed as the location. Here some of the code to display the grid.

myObject orgs = new myObject();
grid.DataSource = orgs;

orgs gets a list of organizations (locations) for the grid. How can I replace the guid ID with it location. Yes the guid ID and location are in a table.

Document viewer on a documents Library & Tooltip Bubble on rollover

Hi everybody,
1 - I would like to know, if in Sharepoint 2007 ECM part (Documents Library), there's a downloadable webpart or an application to create a document viewer (pdf, doc, xls, msg...) in an iframe when you point the mousse over a document or something like that...
If it doesn't exist do you have in mind a code sample which can make something like that ? thank you.

2 - It's possible in a documents library to activate balloon tooltips which show us metas of the document (on mousse over), like an option or an application...

Thank you very much.
All the best.

Service to monitor SFTP location

Hi there,

I want to develop a service (may be Web / WCF / Windows) to monitor a SFTP location for excel files. As soon as any excel file arrives, service should be able to move it to some location and initiate another process.

My queries are:

1. Can we monitor SFTP using services? If not, what are the other ways to monitor.

2. Which service (Web / WCF / Windows) should I use? What could be the challenges?

Any help is highly appreciated. Thanks

using jquery tooltip with asp:Chart control

I'm trying to use qtip (jquery plugin) instead of the standard tooltip control provided for the asp:Chart. I think the best way to do this is with an img map, though I don't know how to implement it. Does anyone know how to implement the img map for an asp:Chart?

Initialize snapshot fro alternate location - multiple .bcp files for an article

I have to replicate over 50GB of data over a slow network.  I did not use the option to initialize snapshot from database backup because the replication articles contain row filters.  If I do that, I'll have to run a lot of scripts to remove the data and other unnecessary database objects on the subscriber. Instead, I created a workaround.  On the publisher, I first create the actual push subscription to the target subscriber on the publication.  This subscription is set not to initialize from snapshot.  I then created a second push subscription on the same publication, but the subscriber is a random database on the publisher server.  This second subscription is a dummy subscription set to initialize from snapshot - the purpose is to generate the necessary snapshot files.  I then reinitialized all subscriptions and generate the new snapshot files. On the subscriber, an empty database is created with the same tables as the publisher database.  I created an identical publication on this empty database, and a dummy push subscription on the target subscriber.  The subscription is reinitialized, and the snapshot files on the empty database is created.  These dummy snapshot files are then overwritten with the actual snapshot files created on the publisher, and then I synchronize the the dummy subscriptions with the actual sn
