Unable to create columns in document library after applying custom master page to site

Hi, I have applied a custom master page to a site. There is a document library in it. I am unable to add columns in it or change the default view.Nothing happens when I click on OK butoon after making my changes. However the columns are created/default view is changed when I apply the default master page. Guess I am missing some TagPrefix or sharepoint control on master page.I had solved this problem earlier in this way but don't remeber it now. Can anyone help?

How to create a page with the similar layout as yahoo mail inbox page?

I want to create a web page with a table on top and a scrollable panel. Similar layout to yahoo mail inbox page (list of inbox messages on top and the panel displaying details). Further more, the table displays general information list and the panel displays a list of detail records. when a user clicks a table row, the panel is going to jump to the specific detail row, similar to html anchors. Do you know how to implement this? Thanks!

What's the "right" way to create a site template and inherit a custom master page?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but in 2007 whatever masterpage you had selected was saved in the site template and was re-created when a new site was created from said template.

It occurs to me that it's different in 2010.

Custom master pages from a site template aren't inherited and they don't keep the specified value when you ask it to before creating the template itself.

So, what's the "correct" way?  What's the difference in making a site template using a blank site or publishing site?

Here I thought I'd be able to make a site template and move on to my next project.

Thanks in advance!

How to create a custom page layout in sharepoint foundation 2010

I need to create a custom page layout in sharepoint foundation 2010.

I am aware that wss 3.0 and sharepoint foundation do not have the publishing infrastructure.

I need to know if the same procedure that is used to create custom web part pages in WSS 3.0 is to be used in SharePoint foundation too or are there other ways.

I am relatively a fresher to sharepoint technology. Please help.

Thanks in advance:D.

Creating a ribbon flyoutanchor similar to the page layout flyout

Hi All,

I've asked this before and got no answer. I've simplified my code which may help.

The current code displays icons to the left and text to the right (similar to Page > Share & Track > Alert Me). I want it to display like Page > Page Actions > Page Layout (with the text below the icon and in 4 columns). I'm using the CMDUI.XML as a guide to no avail.

Below is my code. Any help is appreciated.

How can I create a custom control that adds other controls visible to the page hosting my custom con

I want to create a custom control where I define several specifically named DIV sections.  The code-behind logic of the custom control will perform operations on these named DIV sections.  The page where the custom control is hosted needs to be able to add named controls to the DIV sections and perform operations on these named controls added to the DIV sections.

Let me explain a little further.  In the custom control, I want to have code behind logic that fires the following Page Event and uses a condition to make one or another specifically named DIV section visible or not:

    < _
    ToolboxData("<{0}:BaseDetails runat=""server""></{0}:BaseDetails>") _
    > _
    Public Class BaseDetails
        Inherits UserControl

Protected Sub Page_PreRender(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.PreRender
            DetailsNameDiv1.Visible = False
            DetailsNameDiv2.Visible = False

404 Page Not Found Error When Trying to Create a Site From a Custom Site Template

I just moved a site collection from a one server to another, and now I can't make copies of my sites using custom site templates.

The details of my site structure are in the next paragraph, in case they are relevant.
On the original server, I created custom templates for my sites, and checked the Include Content checkbox
when creating the templates. Everything works perfectly on that server. When I moved the whole site collection to another
server using stsadm backup/restore everything was there, including my customized web parts. But now I can't create new sites
from templates - and I'm I'm not trying to use templates created on the original server. I'm creating new templates on the new
server. It successfully creates the templates, but when I try to create a new site from one of those templates, I get a
"HTTP 404 Page Not Found" page. It succeeds in creating the new site, and the new site shows up in my navigation bar,
but when I click on the new site, I get a "404 Page Not Found" page.

On the original server, I created one top level site for my whole department. Under that, I have one subsite for each of our
external clients. Under each of those, I have one subsite for each project for that client. I used a Team site as my starting
point at each of the 3 leve

How to create a custom log in page which validates both active directory and membership provider use

Hi All,

Am having the following environment:

Windows Server r2 2008,Sql server 2008 r2,Active Directory and SqlMembership provider, sharepoint server 2010,sharepoint foundation 2010 with the same domain.

I created two web applications one by using sharepoint server 2010 (Power users site)and other with sharepoint foundation 2010(General Users site). Both web applications uses same Active Directory. Power users reside in Active Directory and general users in SqlMembership provider.Am having a link in general users site to power users site which can be accessible by power users only.

Now My requirement is creating a custom log in page for Sharepoint foundation 2010 site which validates both AD users and sqlprovider users and when power user logged in,the link to power users should be visible and should not prompt for log in again as they both are using same Active Directory. When general user logged in the link should not be visible.

Please Help me out for solving this issue.

How do I get an InfoPath form to use the Ribbon on a custom application page?

I'd like to display an InfoPath form in a custom aspx page using the XmlFormView control.  When I do, the Submit/Close options show up in the old style blue toolbar instead of the v4 ribbon - even though there is a ribbon at the top of the page.  Is there something I need to add to my aspx page to get the form to use the ribbon instead?

The custom aspx page is deployed in _layouts\subfolder directory and it uses the site's default master page. The InfoPath form is deployed as a site content type.

I don't think it's a problem with the master page or the InfoPath form itself because if I display the form using the Form View web part the actions show up in the ribbon.

How can I use the ribbon when using the XmlFormView?
