Getting User related issues when Upgrading Classic based 2010 web application to claim based 2010 we

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 20, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Hi,

I have upgraded Classic based to claim based . I used these Power-Shell scripts :

$w = Get-SPWebApplication " http://<server>/ "

$w.UseClaimsAuthentication = 1

$w.Update()

$w.ProvisionGlobally()

It upgraded fine. But I am getting a problem when users are trying to log in, they are not able to log in to sharepoint. When I remove existing user and add the same user again then that user can log in.

One thing I also noticed that If User "ABC" is already in Share Point and If I add same user again then it shows both users. But there is only one user.

I am using Share Point 2010 RTM.

What is wrong with my share point 2010?

Can you please help me ?

Is SharePoint and Access 2010 the right platform for subscription based web application?

Hello,

I posted a similar question in the Access Form and the MVP's there suggested I post a follow up here, to clarify the SharePoint issue.

My Question: is SharePoint and Access 2010 a good platform, or can it do what I need?

The Scenario:

I currently have a client/server app built in Access 2002 with many clients in a single industry. My clients are very mobile and would like to be able to do their work in the app anywhere, not just while connected to the office network. Likewise, a large percentage in that industry have Macs (I've used Windows in Parallels or Fusion for these clients but it's not a smooth process, in a lot of 'connectivity' ways). My clients are asking, and my competition already has, web based applications. I very much need to get my app on the web. Along with that, I need to set it up as a monthly subscription based application.

So I'm hoping Access and SharePoint can do this. I don't know ASP or PHP or SQL so it'd be a steep learning curve if I have to go that route. I don't know much about SharePoint but have watched videos about using it for Access Web databases as well as RichClient/SharePoint Lists.

It's possible I could have over 1000 clients, each of which will have a few thousand records in the main few tables (SP Lists). Each client could also have several users l

SharePoint 2010 AD/Claim-based authentication URL.

Hi,

I have setup my SharePoint 2010 web application to support both Windows AD and ADFS 2.0 authentication, the top site URL is: https://myserver.contoso.com

Every time I access the URL, it asks me to choose which credentials I want to use: AD or Claim, then get access to the SharePoint site - it works fine.

My question is about: can I tell which credentials to use in the URL request? i.e.: https://myserver.contoso.com&credential=Windows to use Windows AD authentication;

or https://myserver.contoso.com&credential=ADFS to use ADFS authentication?

Thanks!

Accessing SharePoint 2010 with WinRM on Claims-based web application

I am trying to connect to sharepoint remotely using powershell. Things work okay when connecting to a windows authentication web application. But when i try connecting to a claims based web application, i get access denied messages. I seem to get access to the SPWeb, but when i try to access properties on the web, it errors. I think CredSSP is setup correctly (as the windows web application works). The username i am using is in the format domain\username, not sure if the claims based format needs something different i:0#.w|domain\username

$username = ""
$password = ""
$ip = "192."
$siteurl = "http://"

$creds = New-Object System.Management.Automation.PSCredential $username, (ConvertTo-

Form based authentication on current web application SharePoint 2010

Hi,

I have question about creating form based authentication. I want to have different authentication in the same web application in the same time. For now I have windows authentication and I want to extend it to Form base authentication. I follow procedure on link http://blog.summitcloud.com/2009/11/forms-based-authentication-sharepoint-2010-fb/ step by step but it doesn't work. Also when I try to change authentication in Central administration to Forms it is not possible because that option is disable. Is there any setup for overcome this issue.

Thank in advice.

Infopath 2010 Browser Based Form Vs Infopath 2010 Filler Based Form Issue

I have created a detailed infopath form that is connecting to multiple sharepoint lists, some of which contain thousands of rows and dozens of columns.  To tailor for the data load i have enabled the form to only pull in data as needed and on some of the lists i have created 5 or 6 data connections to the same list, each only looking at a certain set of data, and as you make your way through the form selecting your options, the data is pulled in. If i preview this form from within Infopath or if i launch it using Infopath filler this works great, the data is pulled through in under a second.  However if i then publish the form to the browser and launch it through the browser, it now takes roughly 30 seconds to pull in the data. My question is therefore this,  Is there something i can do to speed up the way the data is pulled in when launched through the browser?  are there transport protocols i can alter or something like that? maybe config in central admin or infopath config? any help would be gratefully appreciated as if i can not get the form to pull the data in fast through the browser then the whole project is a waste of time as my management team will never go for the solution if it is slow and will get slower as more data is added. thanks

User Profile Application Failing in SharePoint 2010 (14.0.4514.1004)

I keep getting the following error "This User Profile Application's connection is currently not available. The Application Pool or User Profile Service may not have been started. Please contact your administrator.". As sugested by Travis at http://blogs.pointbridge.com/Blogs/nielsen_travis/pages/default.aspx I tried commenting the two security nodes, removing its' allowInsecureTransport attributes, and setting then False. As Lionel wrote in his comment I tried also modifying "Central Administration / Application Management / Configure service application associations / Application Proxy Group" of my share point web application. My application pool for User Profile Service Application seems working and User Profile Service status is Started.One thing I remember about my issue, first I tried creating User Profile Service Application I got some error message and tried creating User Profile Service Application again. It gave me some other exception and than I navigated somehow to the "Manage service applications" page and there the desired User Profile Service Application was magically on the list with status Started. I thought - that's great! But when I clicked the User Profile Service Application link I got the nasty red error I mentioned at the beginning. Any ideas?Regards,Dawid Ireno

Rule based permission for listin 2010?

In current version, although we have item based permissions, but in many cases it requires a lot of administrative work, for example, in document library, I can't define a rule on the doc lib to enable users to edit/delete docs they uploaded, I have to go in to enable edit/deletion right on the docs after they are uploaded. In task list, If I want to give users rights to read/edit tasks they are assigned to, I have to do it after the tasks are created, there is no rule I can define on the task list and have it take effect whenever new tasks are created. Is that something I can do in 2010?

Issues with updating Lists with Manager Names and User Profile Imports in SharePoint 2010 Server

I am having a curious problem with SharePoint 2010 Server. I have imported all the user profiles of our organization into SharePoint User Profile Service Application from our Active Directory. When the Manager name imports it comes in as domain/login. The organizational browser seems to work for MOST people, but not all. I believe this is contributing to my second problem, which is, I have setup a very simple workflow in SharePoint Designer that simply looks up the persons Manager, then places that information into a field called "Approval 1". After that it looks at Approval 1 and get the Manager name and populated "Approval 2" with that information, and so on. I have used an Impersonation Step as the Farm Administrator in the workflow and I have done it without the impersonation step. Both results in the same problem. When I enter my name into the list and run the workflow it runs beautifully give every manager up the chain to the top. However, if I put any other person's name in there it gives me the error "Workflow failed to get user profile for user: ____". I went to my supervisor's office and asked him to run the workflow. Using his login he had the exact same result--if my name was in there it worked great, otherwise, it gave an error. Any help with this strange error would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

SharePoint 2010 Claims Based Authentication - anonymous site is prompting for CBA auth when opening

Hi, I have CBA setup successfully on my sites.  One site is setup for anonymous access and I have disabled "client integration" on that web application. I have a list of MS Office documents on a wiki.  When I click on one I am asked to either save or open or cancel.  Saving works fine but when I choose open, it launches the associated MS Office app.  I am then prompted for a login from CBA.  I can click cancel and the logon screen appears again.  After clicking cancel the 2nd time the document appears in the MS Office app, Word in this case. My question is how do I prevent my users from being prompted for a CBA login when clicking on these files and opening them in the native app on their machine?      --TR
