Safari and PerformancePoint Services Web Parts

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 20, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

I know Safari is a second class browser as far as SharePoint is concerned and that is lacks certain SharePoint 2010 functionality per http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc263526.aspx.   However, can anyone tell me if you lose any functionality as far as PerformancePoint Services goes?  This question is two fold -- 1) as far as consuming content of dashboards, filters and reports and 2) creating content via dashboard designer.   The link on TechNet does not say one way or another and it has me a bit worried.

I have never had a client want to use Safari before but now have a prospect where most of the users are IE but some of the Executives use Safari on their Macs.   Some even are just using iPads, but that is a whole other issue.

Anyone know?

Web Parts: Use Windows SharePoint Services as a Platform for Building Collaborative Apps, Part 2

Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003, which is part of the Office System, lets you create and manage virtual servers, site collections, sites, workspaces, and users. You can also use the Windows SharePoint Services object model to design and implement user-targeted applications. In the second part of a two part series, the authors take a look at the WSS and SPS object models, Web Part Page anatomy, creating and deploying Web Parts, and Web Part security. They also discuss Web Part infrastructure and how to create custom Web Parts.

Can´t get the time intelligence filter to work in PerformancePoint Services/Sharepoint

Hi all, I have created a scorecard in Dashboard Designer based on an SSAS cube which looks ok in both DD and Sharepoint. As I want to connect a time filter to this I have created a TI filter in DD. In Sharepoint I have connected the filter to the scorecard with "send performancepoint values to". In "configure connection" I set source value to "PerformancePoint Values: Formula" and Connect to to "Endpoint_TIFormula". I only need to filter on year and have set the TI properties on the cube. Selected time dimension is "Year", Hierarchy level is set to Year, Member is 2008, reference date is 1/1/2008 and I have associated member level Year to Time aggregation Year. The filter is set up like this in DD: it uses the same data source as the scorecard and I use a list view. I do get the filter to work if I specify one formula for each year (e.g. Formula: "Year" and "Display Name: "2010", "Year-1" and "2009" making up two rows) but that can´t be the right way to do it, right? What i would like is a multiselect tree view where I can choose the year I want and have them display on columns. I have tried the formula Year:Year-2 and in the preview I see [Date].[Year].&[2008],[Date].[Year].&[2009],[Date].[Year].&[2008]. However, in Sharepoint the filter only show on

PerformancePoint Dashboard using Excel Services - How to export or print?

I have a PPS dashboard in 2010 that has an Excel services report with a nice graph and grid.  I do not see an "export to Excel" toolbar or a print function.  In the old 2007 Sharepoint, the Excel services report had a menu which allowed the user to export to excel (copy / paste) or OPEN in Excel.  (actually open the pivot table) How do I expose that menu bar in 2010?  Thanks.

PerformancePoint Services 2010 and Cube Actions

Hi,

In PerformancePoint Services 2010, is there support for cube actions that are not on the cell level (i.e., Dimension or Hierarchy).  In 2007 this was not supported and in 2010 ones I have setup are not appearing.  I am guessing the answer is the same as in 2007 but would like some confirmation if possible.

Exporting a PerformancePoint Excel Services Report to Excel

Have an Excel services PivotTable in a PPS 2010 dashboard.  When the user selects the "Export to Excel" option they receive this error.

I do not see any options in the webpart to show the old toolbar that used to show up in the Excel Services views.  (It had an option to open the pivottable in Excel or export a "snapshot" to Excel)

How do users export Excel Services reports to Excel?

Error

The selected view does not support an export to the selected format.

Problem Deploying the Reporting Services Web Parts to SharePoint

Hi,

I am trying to install the RSWebParts.cab file - which contains the Report Viewer and Report Explorer web parts - to my SharePoint 2010 server.  I ran the following command in PowerShell: stsadm -o addwppack -filename path/to/RSWebParts.cab -globalinstall. And received "The solution was successfully deployed" message.

However when I go into the SharePoint Server web front-end, I cannot find any trace of the new web parts.  Going back into PowerShell I ran the Get-SPWebPartPack command and the following was returned:

Name                             SolutionId                                                Deployed

rsswebparts.cab               00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000    False

So it appears to me that the cab file was loaded but not deployed.  But I'm not sure what I need to do next in order to get this pac

Hi.

Does anyone have any experiences with RS 2005 or RS 2008 and Safari? Does RS function normally?

Many thanks

Export Reporting Services Report from PerformancePoint Bug?

I believe I've found a bug in the PerformancePoint web part--has anyone else run into this?  Here's the scenario:

1. An SSRS report against SSAS, from a Reporting Services Integrated mode (2008R2) instance, having two parameters (the # of parameters doesn't matter, and the same behavior below was observed when an older SSRS2005 Report Manger mode instance was used for reports as well)

2. A new Report object is created in PerformancePoint Dashboard Designer, and the report links are added

3. The Report is added to a PerformancePoint dashboard using Dashboard Designer

4. The Report is has paramters that match the report, and the filters are connected to the report

5. After the report is published, it behaves as expected--renders fine and the filters work fine

6. When the report is exported to Excel using the command on the PerformancePoint web part's drop-down menu, the report ALWAYS renders with the data that would be correct if *no* parameters were passed in by the PerformancePoint filters.  So, for example, the report always displays numbers for "ALL", even after the filter is changed to "North America".

#1 - #5 are all as expected.  #6 is unexpected, and appears to be a bug.  Step #6 in SharePoint 2007 with PerformancePoint worked fine--it only a

PerformancePoint Services 2010 - Import items

I have a PPS workspace and want to import this workspace through dashboard designer located on different server. I face the following error"

"An error occurred while reading workspace file 'C:\Users\spsadmin\Desktop\PRIDC BI Development-061020101130.ddwx', please verify that this is a valid workspace file "

please advise on how I can deploy the dashboards in the workspace to the specified server using Import items wizard. and why I face this problem.

Performancepoint Services Configuration

Hi,

I have configured PerformancePoint Services(PPS) creating Secure Store Service and Unattended account.Generated key.Still while connecting to Analysis Services Server from Dashboard designer I am getting the following error: "This data source cannot be used because PerformancePoint Services is not configured correctly.Additional details have been logged for your administrator".

When I saw an event viewer it says:"The following data source cannot be used because PerformancePoint Services is not configured correctly" AND "PerformancePoint Services has not been configured with a valid Unattended Service Account. The setting is located in Manage service applications in Sharepoint Central Administration under the PerformancePoint Services management page".

I checked kerberos is configured correctly and working fine.

Any kind of help will be helpful.

PerformancePoint Services - Dashboard Designer won't launch from PerformancePoint Content library

There are a couple of ways to launch Dashboard Designer for PerformancePoint Services. One of them is to go to a BI Center site, than to the PerformancePoint Content library and click New Item on the Items tab of the ribbon. If you then select one of the items listed, eg a PerformancePoint KPI, Dashboard Designer should launch.

Now in my case, it doesn't. I get a popup titled 'Dashboard Designer Redirect' telling me 'Loading Dashboard Designer...', but when the popup disappears after a few seconds, nothing happens. In the SharePoint logs, I can find a few errors, listed below. What intrigues me here is that the problem seems to be caused by a resource file ppsma.Client.en-US.en-US.resx that cannot be found. Note the double en-US.enUS in there. I do see the resource file in the listed location, but it has en-US in it's filename only once.

This is not a serious problem as I do have other options to launch Dashboard Designer, like going to the Data Connections library, then select New Document - PerformancePoint Data Source, which will launch DD. Or go to the BI Center main page and select the 'Start using PerformancePoint Services' link and start DD from there, which also works. But I am just curious whether there is something wrong with my installation, or this is a bug I should report on MS Connect.

The errors in the log:

SSAS 2008 R2 custom actions with Performancepoint Services 2010

Hello all,

Is PerformancePoint 2010 capable of showing custom actions created in SSAS 2008 R2 in analytic charts under "additional actions" in general?  I figured out that only SSAS actions of type "drilldown action" show up in the context menu of the PPS analytic chart (and also function properly), whereas custom actions with MDX expression (drillthrough script of ASSP for a calculated measure) in SSAS are not shown by PPS under "additional actions" at all (not even disabled, just no entry). Target type of the custom action is set to cell based as I already read that other types are not supported yet. Drillthrough permissions in SSAS are set properly as the show details function of PPS works fine for the same user accessing (non-calculated) measures. Testing the custom action with SSAS built-in cube browser and Excel OLAP interface shows no problems at all.

Thanks for your help,
