Using the Client Object Model to read values from Excel file produces 504 error

I use the Client Object Model to retrieve and read values from an Excel file. This is triggered in an Event Receiver on the Document Library where the Excel file lives. I use a simple CAML Query to retrieve the file. This has worked just fine on a dev/test server.
Now, I just recently deployed this solution to a production/live server and now this code doesn't work anymore. I get an error saying 'The remote server returned an error: (504) Gateway Timeout'. This happnes when I try clientContext.ExecuteQuery();

The difference between the two servers is that on the test server (where it works) the solution is sitting as the root site, so to speak. No host headers or nothing.
On the live server, there are several web applications (SharePoint) on the same port, but with different host headers.

I have tried to trace a little bit and I found that on the test server, the url that is used to create the ClientContext object is 'http://<servername>/<webname>'. The url is comes from the following code: web.Url. I tried changing the url to the DNS name the test server has and that resulted in the same error as on the live server.

Does anyone have any idea what I need to do?

Thanks a billion!

Sending a File Using Email Helper in WebPages/Razor

Note: This is particularly with respect to Email Helper in WebPages/Razor. Please don't post links using System.Net.Mail object.

Following this tutorial: http://www.asp.net/webmatrix/tutorials/9-adding-email-to-your-website

Under "Sending a File Using Email" section what exactly is the code trying to do.

1: The SendFile.cshtml does not have any option to select file.

2: ProcessFile.cshtml is running fine. I am getting the email but no attachement.

I tried changing fileAttachment input to type="file" but not file is being sent to my email. I just get the message send in body.

Question: How exactly this file attachment works using Email Helper in WebPages.

I am relatively new to MVC , i am getting the following error when i try to browse to a page in which i have used usercontrol and within the usercontrol i have a simple grid.

FireFox File Upload error

Hi to all ,

this is srinivas,

i have been trying for uploading a file . it works fine in INTERNET EXPLORER  not in FIREFOX.

firefox browser fileupload control takes only file name ,not entire path. so ERROR  is file not found error thrown at run time.

(i dont want answers which suggests me to do SAVEAS file in local disk then upload.)

please post another answers.

hope u all understand my question .

thanks in advance.

File Upload to an .ashx Script.

Hoping that someone can help me with this. I've been tearing my hair out for days looking for sources and coming up with nothing.

Basically, the scenario is this: I'm working on a project whereby an iPhone will make an HTTP-POST call to an .ashx file on my site. The POST will consist of some fields and a file.

I'm having difficulty - read that as no luck what-so-ever - in finding the form fields or the file when I look at the HTTPContext object in the debug mode of Visual Studio. And if I look at HTTPContext.Request.Files.Count (where I would expect to find a file count) the value is always zero!!

Please help, very confused by this!

Error in RESTORE in LOG FILE. Anyway to exclude it?

I'm trying to install a database (on a SQL Server 2008 machine) with test data sent by a partner company in the form of a .BAK file. (Version of SQL Server they are using unknown). I'm using this script: Use Master RESTORE DATABASE XEMS FROM DISK = 'C:\temp\xemstest6-29.bak' WITH REPLACE, MOVE 'XEMS' TO 'E:\XEMS DATABASE\XEMS.MDF', MOVE 'XEMS_Log' TO 'E:\XEMS DATABASE\XEMS_Log.LDF' The Restore process churns for a while, then I get: Processed 2576 pages for database 'XEMS', file 'XEMS' on file 1. Processed 5 pages for database 'XEMS', file 'XEMS_log' on file 1. Msg 3283, Level 16, State 1, Line 2 The file "XEMS_log" failed to initialize correctly. Examine the error logs for more details. Msg 3013, Level 16, State 1, Line 2 RESTORE DATABASE is terminating abnormally. At this point the database is unusable - trying to do anything with it produces an error indicating the database is still in a Restore state. There is some problem with the LOG portion of the backup, which I really don't need anyway. I'd like to just NOT restore the log. Came across this article which seemed to refer to the exact problem I'm having...  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/915385/en-us They offered this suggestion: "Use the WITH NO_LOG clause during the restore process." However - in checking the RESTORE syntax.... http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/libr
