can't add events in code window

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 20, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

In the video here  http://www.asp.net/general/videos/page-lifecycle-events, Joe adds event stubs to his code by selecting them from  the drop down in upper right portion of the code window.  I can do this in VB, but not C#.  Is this feature only available in VB?  Is there a setting I must adjust in C#?  Is there a way in C# to get a stub for the (for example) OnPreInit event?

Browser window is opening up on the second click with javascript code

Hi,

I am trying to set a javascript code to open up a new browser window with this URL that exists like shown below.

On the first click nothing happens but on the second click the browser window is opening up.

How is it possible to make it open up on the first click ?

                                <asp:ImageButton ID="ImageButton3" runat="server" Height="84px"
                                    ImageUrl="~/images/1.jpg" Width="165px"
                                    onclick="ImageButton3_Click" />

    protected void ImageButton3_Click(object sender, ImageClickEventArgs e)
    {
        String openURL = "javascript:window.open('" + "Folder1/testing.aspx" + "');return false;";
        ImageButton3.OnClientClick = openURL;
    }

Automatically inserting server-side page events into C# when using code separation

I know this is a really basic question and I have spent the last half hour trying to find an answer so please forgive me if this has been asked before (it probably has)....When I create a web page with the C# code placed in a separate file I can't seem to easily add page events (apart from Page_Load). When I open the C# class code for the page all I see in the two drop-down boxes above the code is "Default" (with no other options in the drop-down) in the left-hand box and "ApplicationInstance,form1,Page_Load(object sender,EventArgs e),Profile" in the right hand box. I can't see a way to create the code for the other page events from either of these drop-downs.If I keep the C# code in the same file (i.e., not use code separation) everything works fine - I see "Server Objects & Events, Page, Form1, etc..." in the left hand drop-down and I can create new events in the right drop-down when either Page or Form1 are selected in the left box.Am I missing something really obvious?Many thanks for any suggestions

Open browser window + populate from code behind

Hi,I have a variable, which contains a whole web page. Is there a way to open a new browser window and set the contents of this variable as the page? I don't mind if it's javascript, but it has to be able to hold a bit of data if this is the case.Thanks!

Open popup window with js and .net code

I did a little research and all i can find is binding the js to a control that will fire the popup.Is there a way that i can use in code so i can trigger a popup window from vb.net code?Thanks.P.S. If it is to complicated then is there a way to have a button set with the popup message i want the user to view and make the button click with .net code so the onclick event will fire and show the popup window?

No OnClick-events on any button/ImageButtons on any page runs any code

Hi!

Problem:

I Simply drag a button from the toolbar onto a new page with a master page and a title, double click it so that I enter the Button1_Click function and sets a breakpoint and add some random code. The breakpoint nor the code never fires. I've tried this on several different pages and controllers, but with the same results: The page reloads, but no code is run.

I Have Tried:

Ive tried with three different webbrowsers with all plugins disabled.

I've tried to turn of Causes Validation, - Nothing changes.

I've tried to clean and Rebuild the project, - Still nothing.

I've tried to create a whole new project, - Does'nt work there either.

Other Information:

A RadioButtonList OnDatabound Event works, but whenever i try to do a Button or ImageButton click event the code for the event never fires. Ive programmed several webapplications in other versions of visual studio and ASP.NET but I have never encountered this problem before.

Breakpoints work in other parts of the code and the compile settings is set to DEBUG.

I am using

* Visual Studio 2010

* ASP.NET 4

* MVC 2.

Am I supposed to file a bug report or does anyone out there have a solution?

Many thanks in adv

Close a Popup Window page from Code Behind

Good Morning,

I am using the ClientScriptManager class to call a java alert from Code Behind when a condition is not met. This is being done from a page that is already a JavaScript pop up. When the alert is responded to, I want the script to close both the alert AND the page that generated the alert. Everything works as designed until I close the alert window...THEN the user is also forced to close a second page (the original generating page for the alert) to return to the starting point. This seems cumbersome and unprofessional. I Googled a bunch of stuff but cannot seem to come up with just the right one. What I have currently is below. I appreciate any assistance...Thank You, Pat

        if (RadioButtonSelect.Checked == false)
{
string msg = "My String";
ClientScriptManager script = Page.ClientScript;
if (!script.IsClientScriptBlockRegistered(this.GetType(), "Alert"))
{
script.RegisterClientScriptBlock(this.GetType(), "Alert", "alert('" + msg + "')", true);

How can I call the windows authentication window from C# code?

Hi,

To begin with: I DO NOT WANT A SOLUTION FOR ASP.NET

I have a windows application which tries to get information from the internet. But the connection to the internet can only be established through a proxy server.

Normally, the users who use the application log in with their credentials and that should automatically connect to the proxy server. But, for example, when you try opening Internet Explorer which is set up to use a proxy, it pops up the log-in window to authenticate to the proxy server, in case it is not saved.

My problem is, if it is saved, I can take the default credentials and proxy server using

System.Net.WebProxy.GetDefaultProxy(); (I know this is deprecated, but it works for me. I would appreciate a more elegant solution).

and

System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials

But, in case it is not saved, I want to pop-up the windows authentication window like the IE does. Is it possible to that? If yes, I would appreciate a little help, otherwise I have to write my own authentication window.

Please respond asap.

Thanks in advance.

Code Optimized Web Development Profile (VS 2010 and .NET 4.0 Series)

When you first run VS 2010 it prompts you to select an IDE profile to use. The profile you select will configure how tool windows are displayed/docked in the IDE by default and set the default keyboard shortcuts. You can then customize any of these settings by using the Tools->Options menu within the IDE and then override/change them. You can also later reset your profile and pick a different one by choosing the Tools->Import and Export Settings menu command.

call JavaScript - jQuery code from ASP.NET Server-Side

jQuery got so close to me lately that I can see myself adding the scripts to my project almost unconsciously. The thing is, jQuery is very useful for me, in almost all situations and it has been a do or die enhancement for all my project since I first put my hands on it.

Of course while using it, you encounter few situations which need a bit of research to solve, mostly when you are trying to combine it with some other technologies like: UpdatePanels and ASP.NET Ajax. For instance there are many situations when I would like to run some jQuery magic based on some decision that I make on the server side.

WCF Tutorial - Events and Callbacks

we described how to make a very simple client/server application where clients would call functions on the server through a shared interface. In this tutorial, I'm going to expand that application to allow the server to execute functions on the client by using callbacks. Essentially, this is WCF's mechanism to allow events to be raised from the server to it's connected clients.
