How to execute an SQL script from within Visual Studio Web Developer Express 2010??

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 20, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

How to execute an SQL script from within Visual Studio Web Developer Express 2010? Can someone please help with this? The MSDN help reference (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/yea4bc1b.aspx) appears to be inaccurate as the "run" and "run on" options do not show in when the script is right clicked for the context menu.

FYI, I am using the default SQL server (express?) that comes with out of the box with VS Web developer express 2010.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Visual Studio C# 2010 Express and Web Developer 2010 Express are not supported anymore?

I've wrote the comprehensive post within my blog: http://weblogs.asp.net/vasilysokolov/archive/2010/10/26/annoying-2-remake-microsoft-russia-is-simply-not-supporting-visual-studio-express-editions-at-all-and-my-last-hope-scott-guthrie-is-on-vacation.aspx

In brief words everything is simple:

1. I've downloaded free Visual Studio C# 2010 Express and Visual Studio Web Developer 2010 Express

2. I've successfully installed these versions.

3. I've tried registration online - and got the appropriate keys which I've used for registration.

Finally all the keys I've got are not valid for the system - and after 30 days evaluation (for free version?) period all these products are not running anymore because all the keys I am providing from online registration are invalid.

What can you suggest me for fixing this problem?

Visual Web Developer 2010 Express "Copy Web Site" using different login

I created a site and am trying to grant another pesron access to upload changes to it without giving them my super-user login.

I made a login for her but I can't test whether it works or not because no matter how much I "disconnect" in the Copy Web Site page of VWD 2010, reconnecting to the same site always logs in as my superuser account without prompting me for a login again.

How do I test is the account it set up correctly before having her try to upload to it?    I want to force the login to remote site dialog to pop up again to test her account.

Any ideas?

can't execute "create table" command with Visual Web Developer express

I have a folder with a web site I'm developing which is connected to a database.Every time I move the folder to a different computer it's a pain when I have to move the database and change the connection string.I've thought to use for the first time a database in the app_data folder and move all the database inside it.Nevertheless, when I try to recreate all the tables in the new database for the first time with the query "create table ..." I get and error saying that "SQL CREATE TABLE" is not supported. Is there a way to manage this situation?--   Giuseppe

Error code -2068578304 When Installing Express SP1 x64 as a Part of Visual Studio 2010 Installation

Howdy! I was installing the VS 2010 on my server running Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 and all of a sudden the setup finished with " Setup completed, however, there were failures reported installing optional components. " The final status is success. The left-hand pane of the finish page reads as: The following component failed to install: Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express Service Pack 1 (x64).   Leaving alone the fact why setup executed the custom action that tried to install SQL Server Express Edition and Compact Edition when I just asked it to install SQL components (which presumably should be SQL SMO and DMO libraries), I would like to understand what had happed to Express install.   Inspecting the .\Logs\dd_error_vs_vstdcore_100.txt file gives the following record:   [09/16/10,16:06:51] Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express Service Pack 1 (x64): [2] Error code -2068578304 for this component is not recognized. Windows XP, Visual Studio Express 2010 and SQL Server 2008 Express - How can I save modified columns

I am using c# in VS 2010 Express. I have a MDF database that I connect to through "Database Explorer". Database Explorer will not let me SAVE columns that I have modified. As I know in SQL Server 2008 full edition you can change the setting "Prevent saving changes that require table recreation" in Management Console to prevent this. I haven't got Management Console and can't see it in install.

How do I change this setting if I haven't got management console? Is it in Registry or Config File.

SQL Server 2008 R2 Developer with Visual Studio 2010 Pro always defaults using SQLEXPRESS

I had un-installed SQL Server 2008 Express that came with the Visual Studio 2010 Pro.

I had installed SQL Server 2008 R2 Developer, and Im able to connect through the Management Studio and Visual Studio itself.

The problem is: whenever I create a new ASP.NET Web Application, the web.config always defaults using SQLEXPRESS.

How can I change this within Visual Studio 2010 so that the web.config defaults to the new database SQL Server 2008 R2 Developer that I installed?

how to compile a website in Visual Web Developer 2010 Express

I created a "website" in VWD 2010 Express.  The project contains no bin folder and I can't seem to compile it.    I don't have a web host, so for now I'd like to run my site on "localhost" on my machine: i.e. I'd like to drop the DLL (if there is one) and my aspx files into a folder on my hard drive and run the site from there.  The site runs if I open VWD and run the asp.net web server, but I would prefer to not have to open VWD each time I want to load my site.  Thanks.

SQL Server Express 2008 and Visual Studio Express 2010

A few months ago I upgraded to VS2010 - at the same time I thought it would be good to upgrade to SQL Express 2008 R2.

It turned out that there was some compatibility issues between the two - "...cannot be opened because it is version 661. This server supports version 655 and earlier. A downgrade path is not supported."  After much trouble I restored the database and have done most of the stuff I need through VS itself.

Now I need to use SQL itself and am positively scared to death of what it could do to my database again.  Can anyone offer any advice - it is a service pack update or something...?

Visual studio 2010 and SQL Express 2008 with advanced series

Hi I recently found out that you can only do full text indexing with the advanced series of SQL Express and I managed to download and install it on my machine.

My question is how do I integrate it with Visual studios 2010 so that I can do the full text indexing ?

When I installed SQL Express with advanced series 2008, it created an instance of SQL Server management studio so im wondering if I have to do it there and then move the database into my project or if I can do the full text indexing from inside my project

Anyone's help would be much appreciated

Error connecting to SQL express - Visual Studio 2010

I recently installed Visual Studio 2010 and was getting the following error message when running the code (F5) "Error connecting to SQLexpress". The error page prevented me from seeing the webpage.

I consulted many different trouble-shooting recommendations, however, in my case, it was simply a problem with SQL. When I reinstalled SQL server 2008 on my computer, the error message was gone and I was able to see the ASP.net web development page.
