I am quite new on sharepoint 2007,

I would like to create a  form that the visitor of the website can fill and then submit.

once the form submitted i would like tto be able to store all the date picked up to the database sqlserver 2005 and then to be able to send a email to the administator to be kept inform  of that.

the 2 tutorial i found that i found interested are http://weblog.vb-tech.com/nick/archive/2007/02/25/2207.aspx and the microsoft one o.n the virtual lab.

So what i am looking for is any tutorial which can help me to be understand very well how to use the worklow with infopath or if you have as well some book to advice me for that i would be happy.

I have sys environement of MOSS 2007, windows 2008 (64 bit), MS SQL 2008  Though it is easy to design and publish form to a site,  devloping the form with more business rules and validation seems to be vague for me. move infopath forms from SP Portal Server 2003 to 2007

I am a newbie to SharePoint. Please let me know if I didn't explain my problem well...

We built the new SharePoint server 2007 on a different physcial box from the old server 2003. There are huge amount of InfoPath forms in form library on the old server. I was told that: to get these forms moved over to the new server 2007, we have to save the forms and re-publish to the new server one at a time. This will be really time consume and also loosing the attributes of the original forms, the date it was created and modified etc.

I would like to see if there is a way to move one form library at a time, and just copy the forms over; not publishing them again.

Many thanks!

MOSS 2007 Strange Problem with edit forms, content types and document library columns

I'm having a strange problem and have not been able to track down any useful answers over google.

I inherited a SharePoint site that I am now making some changes to.

I am having problems with one document library.  We had custom edit forms on this document library, which I was finding a pain to maintain so I reset them back to the site definition.  This edit form now shows only those fields that are associated with the Document content type (the only content type - I've deleted the others) on the document library.  There are other columns on this document library that are NOT associated with the content type that I would like to show on the edit form but they are not available when I try to add them to the content type via Settings > Document Content Type > Add from existing site or list columns.  The select columns from drop down is set to List Columns.  The Additional Authors column is just not there.

I CAN see this field on the all items view for the document library, it is there and populated with data.

Setting the Allow Managed content types radio button to NO does not have any impact on which fields are visible on the form- I still see those same fields that have been associated with the Document content type.

Has anyone else seen this or does anyone have any thoughts??

Licensing for InfoPath 2007 when using Rich Client Forms only

I am using InfoPath 2007. I intend to design and distribute Rich Client forms only, and once the user fills the form, they will submit the data to a Web Service or Email the form data (xml). I am aware that each user will need to have InfoPath 2007 installed on their computer, which is ok for me. My question is, apart from purchasing the Office InfoPath 2007 (which in my case comes with Office 2007 Enterprise), are there any other licences I will need in order to deploy my solution?

Thanks and regards.

Infopath 2010 submitting to MOSS 2007

Hi all,

I have a quick query regarding Infopath 2010 submitting data into a MOSS 2007 form library.  This is the first time I'm trying to build a form using 2010.  Normally in 2007, when cerating the submission I'd query the form library to get the ID & then use @max(ID)+1 to get the next available number which I'd then use in the name of the form, however, in Infopath 2010, you don't appear to be able to use the ID field in formula as it doesn't appear in the list of avaialble fields in the data connection.  I considered using a calculated field which equals the ID, but calculated fields aren't usable either.

Has anyone else seen this or is it just my installation? has anyone worked around this?

Thanks in advance.

Moss 2007 and Infopath 2003 client

System config:

SharePoint 2007 SP2 - 64 bit Standard edition

2 WFE, 1 APP/index,  Clustered SQL DB Servers (SQL 2005)

Issues is with Infopath forms saved to a document library (NO FORMS SERVICES ENABLED - MOSS Standard license), no code behind, just XML based form with a number of fields in it linked to an xsn that is located on another server entirely.

Client machines are IE 6 Infopath 2003

When form is opened by an owner - works fine, client opens no issue

When form is opened by a contributor - unless checked out first or if the "Require checkout before allowing editing of file" is disabled works fine

When form is not checked out to contributor or if the user if a viewer the error is:

"Infopath cannot open the following file:<filename>.xml. The file does not appear to be an infopath form ."

Show details:

"The processing instruction in the file is missing or invalid"

I tried a couple tests, I logged into Windows as a user who had viewer rights and then logged into MOSS as a user who has owner rights. Issue still happens. So I am assuming there is a second call being made by the InfoPath client using the windows identity and integrated auth.

If I download the file to my desktop it opens just fine. I cannot determine what ch

updating content type failed during publishing Infopath on MOSS 2007

Hi Folks,
I am new to MOSS & Infopath-2007. I want to publish form on MOSS onto Document Library not as Content Type. Last week, i published form successfully, but suddenly since last thursday, I am not able to publish - it gives me "updating content type failed" error. :(
I am publishing with Domain Trust, no certification is sign (actually, not required in my case).

Thereafter, I tried creating new template with single button/textbox, but it gives same error.
Today, i tried with blank form, it failed again with same error.

I tried creating Form library from Infopath form as well as from MOSS, but no help.
doing Googling, i only got 2 solution - timeout or too many columns added from infopath - but in my case there are only 3-4 columns i want to publish.

I tried below links, but no help:

Create an Infopath form to generate unique number MOSS 2007

I created an infopath form that would auto generate a number to each form from following instructions at the following site.

I am wondering if it is possible to change the starting point of the ID field within sharepoint.  It starts at 1.  I would like it to start at 1000. and add 1 number each time a new infopath form is added. Or would I add a different field to accomplish this.

Q: How to print out background color in InfoPath 2007 browser form under MOSS form service?

Hi InfoPath experts,

I am trying to print out a custom InfoPath 2007 browser form using "Print View" function offered by MOSS Form Service. It seems like the all background color formats has been stripped out when printed out. Interestingly, only font colors are remain the same in printed-out.
Is there a way to fix this issue? I know you can change the settings: http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/infopath-help/print-background-colors-and-pictures-HP001095710.aspx , but it only applies for InfoPath Client Form, not browser-based Form!

Any help are appreciated!

Using Microsoft Infopath 2010 with MOSS 2007

I currently have InfoPath 2007 forms uploaded on the MOSS 2007 server in which we can fill out and will submit to/query from a database. I was curious if I decided to upgrade to Microsoft InfoPath 2010 would it be a smooth transition or would I need to change anything since I'm not upgrading MOSS 2007. Thanks in advance!

Can you embed an Infopath 2007 form with MOSS 2007 in an Outlook 2010 email?

MOSS 2007, Infopath 2007 and Outlook 2010

Is it possible to embed the Infopath Form in the email itself.

I read this link (point 1) http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/infopath/microsoft-office-infopath-2007-top-10-benefits-HA010165024.aspx, but I have been unable to do this?

Do you have to have Infopath 2007 on the client machine to be able to do this?
