Dynamic Textbox List Control - problems refreshing

Ive been stuck on this one for a month:

So I have a custom control that has a list of textboxes, and a button that will dynamically add a new textbox to the list.

 So I have an addTextbox() function, that will do something like

TextbBox t = new TextBox()

 then I add it to the page.  So adding a new textbox works fine, but I have values that I want to put into each textbox and upon each page load, the values get replaced.  What I need to do is get the textboxes from the viewstate so I can use their values for other textboxes, but since they are created anonymously, im not sure how I can do that.  I tried to get the unique name and put all of them into an arraylist, then upon the next page load, load the names from the list, but the unique name isnt unique.  Thanks

Highlight text in a dynamic textbox

 Hi, I have a dynamic textbox appearing in a gridview on the row editing function. I have the following code to set the focus tot he textbox:

GridView1.EditIndex = e.NewEditIndex

This works fine, but I would now also like to select the data in the textbox so the user does not have to select the text before typing, they can just type straight away.

I have been trying to use:

txtTargetAmount1.SelectionStart = 0
txtTargetAmount1.SelectionLength = txtTargetAmount1.Text.Length

but this does not work.

Any ideas?

Dynamic TextBox Validation not working on dynamic DataGrid on PlaceHolder

I have a placeholder to which I programmatically add DataGrids... In the DataGrids, I programmatically add TextBoxes along with dynamic validations. Somehow, the DataGrids show up, but the dynamic validations don't work. If I set them to static, the blank space for them appears, but still, they wont work.

I'd appreciate your help on this.

Dynamic Filling of TextBox AutoComplete not working

Hi guys,

i would like to fill the textbox autocomplete stringcollection "on the fly" while typing. i don't want to fill the collection while initializing, 'cause it's too much data: the sql server-table has about 100.000+ rows. the filling takes too much time and the "autocomplete-popup-find-something-box" itself is getting too slow, too.

my configuration:
.NET-Framework: 2.0.50727, System.Windows.Forms.TextBox

TextBox-Properties: AutoCompleteSource: CustomSource; AutoCompleteMode: Suggest

i tried several different things...

1. i did put this code in the "TextChanged"-event, but i think it's 'too late' there:

private void

dynamic create RequiredFieldValidator when rendering TextBox

I'm trying to inherit TextBox class. In this new class I would like to dynamicaly add a RequiredFieldValidator object if a Property let's say "MustExist" is true.

The problem is when I create RequiredFieldValidator object and add it in the rendering, nothing is produced in the source code, and no validation is happeneing.

In this new class in Implement IValidator also. But nothing change. I dont know when to add the RequiredFieldValidator to be part of the cycle of the rendering/validation.

 Can someone tell me how to do that ?

 Here below a sample of what I want to do:

aspx code:

<MyControls:MyTextBox id="textbox1" runat="server" MustExist="true" />

code vb.net:

1    Public Class MyTextBox
2        Inherits TextBox
3        Implements IValidator
6 Private requiredFieldValidator As New RequiredFieldValidator
8 'Public Overrides Sub RenderControl(ByVal writer As System.Web.UI.HtmlTextWriter)

javascript help while generating Dynamic Textbox

I have a dynamically generated table with buttons in one of its column. On button click I call an javascript that generate a new textbox in the very next row.

My javascript is as follows:

function addTextboxes()
    var RowIndex;
    var table = document.getElementById('ctl00_ContentPlaceHolder1_SIMM');
    var rows = document.getElementById('ctl00_ContentPlaceHolder1_SIMM').getElementsByTagName('tbody')[0].getElementsByTagName('tr');
    for (i = 0; i < rows.length; i++)
        rows[i].onclick = function()
            //alert(this.rowIndex + 1);
        RowIndex = this.rowIndex + 1;
        var row = table.insertRow(RowIndex);
        var cell = row.insertCell(0);
        var element = document.createElement("span");
        element.type ="span";

Textbox Editable GridView in ASP.NET

This article describes how I made a fully editable gridview in C# using ASP.NET 2. The idea is that the GridView looks and works like an Excel spreadsheet. You see all the cells in the table, and you can edit any of the cells you like, and they are automatically updated (i.e. saved to the database). This is very often how people expect data tables to work in web pages, and I've often seen people clicking in vain on un-editable gridview cells, somehow expecting to edit them, and not understanding that they need to click an Edit button at the end of the row.

Adding Dynamic Rows in ASP.NET GridView Control with TextBoxes and with Delete functionality

In my previous examples, I have demonstrated on how to add dynamic rows in GridView control with TextBoxes and how to save the values into the database. Now, seems that most of the developers are asking if how to add a delete functionality with it. So in this example, I'm going to show on how to delete a certain row in the dynamic GridView with TextBoxes.

Highlighting Rows with TextBox OnFocus

In another article I explained that how you can make the rows of the GridView control clickable and highlight them when they are clicked. In this article I will explain that how you can highlight the GridView rows when you focus on the TextBox which is contained inside the GridView control.

Dynamic Data Templates in GridView ASP.NET 3.5

At a high level, Dynamic Data Templates can be seen as a system to very quickly build up a User Interface linked with the relevant data model, immediately enabling you to perform CRUD operations (Create, Read, Update, Delete) on the database using the specified data source. They provide a powerful method for building up these kinds of applications, and I'm going to focus on an overview of what Dynamic Data Templates actually are, and a few ways of customizing them to suit industry needs.

ASP.NET 4.0 Dynamic Data and Many to Many Entity Framework Entities

I did not play much with Dynamic Data controls in VS2008 and just made a cool discovery in VS2010 Beta 2. This may not even be new, but as I'm sitting 30,000+ feet over the Atlantic ocean, I don't have access to VS2008 at the moment to check.

Dynamic Systems Development Model (DSDM) Methodology

The Dynamic Systems Development Model was developed in the U.K. in the mid-1990s. It is the evolution of rapid application development (RAD) practices. DSDM boasts the best-supported training and documentation of any of the agile software development techniques, at least in Europe. DSDM favors the philosophy that nothing is built perfectly the first time and looks to software development as an exploratory endeavor.

Adding Dynamic Rows in GridView with TextBoxes

I decided to write this article because this has been asked so many times before at the forums(http://forums.asp.net) . Basically, this example shows on how to generate a Row in GridView with TextBoxes when clicking a Button that is residing inside a GridView Footer.

Custom Editing Behavior for DataGridView TextBox Columns

For various reasons I'm using a DataGridView instead of a ListView, and while configuring the DataGridView to look like a ListView wasn't much of a problem, there's one thing that got on my nerves, which is the behavior of textbox cells in edit mode: It is much too easy to leave the edit mode accidentally, simply by pressing the cursor keys at the wrong time. For example when the text caret is positioned behind the last character of the textbox cell content, and you press the right arrow key

What is the difference between "dynamic" and "object" keywords?

Let's take a quick look at the object keyword first. I'm not going to talk a lot about it because it's been around since C# 1.0. This keyword is nothing more than a shortcut for System.Object, which is the root type in the C# class hierarchy. (However, as Eric Lippert pointed out in his blog post, not everything in C# derives from object.) This is a powerful mechanism, since you can assign almost any value to instances of this type.
