private void LoadData()
            {
            string value = cboCarrierCode.SelectedValue;
            DateTime dteDue = new DateTime(int.Parse(Request.Form["txtYYYY"]),
            int.Parse(Request.Form["txtMM"]),
            int.Parse(Request.Form["txtDD"]));
            string strFileName = "nsl_";
            strFileName += (cboDealers.SelectedValue).ToString();
            strFileName += ".xls";
            DataSet dsReport = sqlServer.GetReportsForNewReportsPage

Redirect the output to excel

Currently  I have a ASP page that brings data from the database and display in a grid, something like this

     DataSet dsReport = sqlServer.GetReports ((txtbox1.Text), dropdownlist1.SelectedValue,dteDue);
            DataGrid1.DataSource = dsReport.Tables[0];
            DataGrid1.DataBind();

what i want is instead of data in a data grid display have it in a excel file  so I used

RenderExcel(dsReport.Tables[0], strFileName);

But instead of getting the data from the database in the excle file. I get the input asp page displayed in the excel. Pleae can anybody suggest what to do?

Thanks in advance

hyperlink in Excel and login redirect

The user has a .xlsx with links pointing to a portal page witch require user logon.

First time (clicking on a link) the login.aspx?ReturnUrl=... is displayed, as expected. User logs in.

Second time, login.aspx?ReturnUrl=... displayed again, wrongly, bec user is already loged on.

It's seems, Excel calls the original link directly, server redirects (bec, excel is not loged in), than excel lunch the browser with new redirected url.

I can't simply redirect the user automatically, bec login.aspx is displayed also when the user has no permmissons.

What can I do?

Export Visio Database Table Names to Excel

If you use the Enterprise Architect edition of Microsoft Visio for data modeling regularly, then there is a good chance that at some point you've wanted to export just the table names into Excel. You might want to do this to map logical ERD entities to physical data model tables, track project status by entity, or track overlap between database versions.

Excel Automation in .Net

Excel Automation is a buzz word in both webapps and winapps. In the programming life (like Mr.Anderson neo) I guess almost every one could have come across this word. For others let me go further in detail. Excel Automation is automating some or all of the process involved in creating or updating excel worsheets.

Export SharePoint List to Excel Spreadsheet Programmatically using C#

But for data manupulation and analysis, Microsoft Excel provides very rich features as compared to SharePoint Lists. That's why people still loves to work on Microsoft Excel Sheets.

Create And Run Excel Macro At Runtime in C#

You've been tasked with writing a Windows Form application using the .NET Framework that interacts with Microsoft Excel. If you are new to working with Excel in .NET and are having trouble learning how to format certain cells or cell ranges, then this little tip will come in handy. Rather than scour the internet hoping to find the correct set of constants or method syntax for formatting your spreadsheet, use the built in tools in Excel to write the familiar VBA code for you. Then, you can paste the VBA code generated by Excel into the sample C# code below and run it dynamically at runtime.

Response.Redirect slow

I'm in the middle of migrating servers and on the new server Response.Redirect is extremely slow. It takes around 20 seconds for the browser to get the redirect. This is something that was quick on the existing server. It's an ASP.NET 2.0 application, both servers are running IIS6.

Additionally, if I "manually" do the redirect, it's fast. For example:

Existing way:

Response.Redirect(url);

takes around 20 seconds on the new server

New way:

Response.Status = "302 Moved Temporarily";
Response.AddHeader("Location", url);
Response.End();

is fast on the new server.

Any ideas why Response.Redirect would be so slow on the new server?

Automatically redirect to HTTPS and check if SSL is active

Hello,

I've set in the web.config:

    <!-- User Authentication -->
    <authentication mode="Forms">
      <forms loginUrl="~/Page/View/Content/Login.aspx" timeout="2880" requireSSL="true" />
    </authentication>

This works fine. If there is no ssl connection, the login form doesn't continue. But I would like to check if ssl is active (in codebehind) and, if it's possible, to automatically the user to the https page if he's currently on http. (I could do this job by manually redirect with page.response("https://url.../login.aspx"); but this is not really generic. For example if the webapp is moved to another domain it doesn't work anymore... I'm looking for something like: FormsAuthentication.RedirectWithSSL(); or so... :D)

Regards,
Chris

Profile not being save after redirect.

Hello,

I am trying to save values into a Profile on Page1, then redirect to Page2 and access those values.  However, after the page redirects the profile values are blank as if they were never saved.   When stepping through the code I can see that they are being save on Page 1.

I suppose I could use session variables to store the information but I don't understand why saving the profile doesn't work.

//Page1
private void PayWithPayPal()
    {
        ProfileCommon profile = this.Profile;

        if (Global.CurrentUserName.Length > 0)

        profile.FirstName = uxFirstNameShipping.Text;
        profile.LastName = uxLastNameBilling.Text;
        profile.ShippingAddress.AddressLineOne = uxAddressLineOneShipping.Text;
        profile.ShippingAddress.AddressLineTwo = uxAddressLineTwoShipping.Text;
        profile.ShippingAddress.City = uxCityShipping.Text;
        profile.ShippingAddress.State = uxStateShipping.Text;
        profile.ShippingAddress.ZipCode = uxPostalCodeShipping.Text;

        profile.Save();

Read Excel file from Web Application (C#)

Hi,

I have a web app where user uploads a file.

File is saved in server locally and I want to read some data from it.

Currently my development  server has office 2003.

So do I need office 2007 in order to be able to  read an excel from office 2007 ?

What are other requirements  ?

I tried a test, using

Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Application excelApp = new Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Application();
Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Workbook wrkBook; // = new Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Workbook();

wrkBook = excelApp.Workbooks.Open(@"C:\www\excel_files\b.xls", ....);

But When trying to open the file I get the error:

Exception from HRESULT: 0x800A03EC

So I'm wondering what I'm missing.

Thanks
