How to display related tables in one crystal report and how to link this report with combobox?

Hi! I want to display a crystal report in my vb.net application. Suppose I have tables named student details, student marks, student address, etc... I will be providing a combo box in my application that contains list of student names. How can I link this combo box with the cystal report to dynamically display report for different student on selected index change of combo box? Help me friends. An example would be appreciable.

Join Two Tables and Prepare Report

            I have a select query which is executing well. Now, I want to add one more field to that query. That field is not in the current query table, It is in the another table.

How do I join those two tables and get that field value in the existing select query.?

Multiple Tables needed for Report Builder Problem

I have 3 tables I need to join: Voucher, Voucher_Detail, and Place
Voucher is related to Voucher_Detail by column voucher_run_id
Voucher has no relationship to Place
Voucher_Detail is related to Place by column place_id

I have solved the one to many relationship problem I was having between Voucher and Voucher_Detail by adding a New Named
Query called LeftOuterJoin.

In my DSV, the Voucher table links to the LeftOuterJoin which links to the Voucher_Detail which links to the Place

When I go into Report Builder, as soon as I select Voucher_Detail ( which is the table that has the most columns I need in the report),
the Voucher table disappears from view.

Not sure what I have missed. Obviously I need access to all 3 tables' data.

How to show the content of two tables in one report?

Hi there,

I am working with reporting services for the first time and I have a very basic question, but can't find a solution for it anywhere. I use Visual Studio 2008 and SQL Server 2005.

Here is the problem:

I have two SQL data tables, one consisting of general data about a person (name, age,..) and one containing their employment data (joining date, salary, ...). I now want to show both tables for one particular person in one report such that the general data as well as the employment data each have their own section, such as

Programmatically generating html report using ReportExecutionService class fails

Hello All,

I am utilizing the ReportExecutionService class in MSRS 2008 to programmatically generate reports in a .NET Windows program. I have two Web References, one for ReportingService2005.asmx and one for ReportExecution2005.asmx. I am using ReportExecution2005 namespace to instantiate the ReportExecutionService object.

The problem is that generating report content using the ReportExecutionService.Render method is not working consistently. It works a few  times and then throws a
"Client found response content type of '', when expected 'text/xml'. This is happening for reports that worked great on a prior test (same report name, same path, same parameters). Does anyone know if I need to change any settings in SSRS to correct this issue. Below is the code

ReportExecutionService res = new ReportExecutionService();
res.Timeout = System.Threading.Timeout.Infinite;
res.Url = url.vvlu_char_vlu_cd.ToString();

res.Credentials = System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials;
// Render arguments
byte[] result = null;
string reportPath = @"../../../Stuff";
ExecutionInfo ei = new ExecutionInfo();
ExecutionHeader eh = new ExecutionHeader();
res.ExecutionHeaderValue = eh;

string format = "HTML4.0";
string devInfo = @"<DeviceInfo><Toolbar>False</Tool

SSRS 2005/2008 - Chart with bar graph not generating on subsequent executions of report even with mo

For a report executed from Report Manager that has a bar chart component, regenerating the report via refresh or view with same input parameters either gives a different result that is garbled or an empty chart (2008) or no chart at all (2005). I have the report set up to not do any caching, so that does not seem to be the issue. Is there some chart option I may need to set to get the proper chart display.

Can I create multiple report tables from one Dataset?

I'm producing a report in Report Builder 3.0 that needs to show events grouped by time of day, and another table with the same data grouped by day of week. Both tables show the same results, just grouped differently. The query that generates the ungrouped data is expensive, so I don't want to run it twice.

I've created queries in Management Studio that get the ungrouped data into a global temp table, and then I can fetch both grouped data sets from there. Unfortunately I can't get this to work in Report Builder. I have one Dataset that runs the main query, saves it into global temp, and then returns the first result set. The second Dataset returns the results from global temp. This keeps failing, the second result set is blank.

Does Reporting services run the queries in the order they are in the report, or are they run concurrently? If they are run concurrently this would explain it. Is there anything I can do to change this so that the second query doesn't run until the first one has completed?

Is there a better way of achieving the results I'm after?

500 Error generating SSRS Report in SharePoint Integrated Mode

Our environment looks as follows:

- MOSS 2007 Site/Central Admin (Enterprise) on Server A

- SQL Reporting Services 2008 R2 on Server B

- Report created on workstation using Report Builder 3.0

- SharePoint Library (with Promoted InfoPath fields) is the XML datasource

The report generates perfectly fine in development, but once loading the RDL up to the SP Site we get the following error when trying to view:

An error occurred during client rendering.

The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error.

Using this generic information we have checked into numerous apparent fixes, from confirming settings in the Central Admin, to changing the Zone Authentication to NTLM, to ensuring Anonymous Access is disabled, as well as some tweaks in IIS, etc.

We're still not having any luck getting the report to generate.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Can I have 3 different tables in a report? And, can I pass 3 temp table to SSRS as source for these

I'm using BI 2008 and sql 2005 and 2008.  Is there an example to show me?  Thanks.

Generating report for 10,000 records (SSRS 2008)

Hi Experts,

I have SQL Procedure resulting 10,000 records, which is properly indexed and working fine from db.

Using SSRS 2008 recreated a report to print the records with some parameters.

Problem : The SSRS Report Viewer Control and even Report Manager is loading all the records in 1 page, which is taking very long time to show and scroll.

Please suggest how can improve the performance. (Creating Paging??? etc)

I appreciate some quick solution.

Locking published tables while generating the snapshot infinite (Transactional replication)

I set up a transactional replication, publisher 2005 SP2 to a subscriber SQL 2008r2. The database is about 90 GB. When I want to create a Snapshot, the snapshot agent is running to 96% and then give a error. I have set up some logging, here is the tail of it:

MS SQL Server: Search All Tables, Columns & Rows For Data or Keyword Query

If you need to search your entire database for specific data, this query will come in handy.

So when a client needs a custom report or some sort of custom development using Great Plains, most of the time I will have to track down the data in the system by running this query and find the table(s) it is in.

Temporary Tables - MS SQL Server

Usage of temporary tables in MS SQL Server is more developer friendly and they are widely used in development. Local temporary tables are visible only in current session while global temporary tables are visible across all sessions.

Temporary tables in SQL Server vs. table variables

When writing T-SQL code, you often need a table in which to store data temporarily when it comes time to execute that code. You have four table options: normal tables, local temporary tables, global temporary tables and table variables. I'll discuss the differences between using temporary tables in SQL Server versus table variables.
