Trying to get value from one form to populate in another form

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 19, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Windows Application

I am trying to get a text value from NameForm and pull it in Welcome as a label value.
What I have so far, when the Welcome page comes up, it does not give the value of the text but if you click on the label field, it pops up with the NameForm screen. After you enter name again on the NameForm screen, it will show in Welcome.

Screens should be:

NameForm - enter name and click submit to go to Welcome.
Welcome - this has a label field in it that should populate with the name that was entered on the NameForm.

public partial class NameForm : Form
 private string fullname = " ";

 public string nameValue
 { get { return fullname; } }
 public void SubNameBtn_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
  this.AcceptButton = SubNameBtn;

  User user = new User();

  user.FirstName = fNameTxt.Text;
  user.LastName = lNameTxt.Text;

  fullname = fNameTxt.Text; \\using only fNameTxt till figured out

public partial class Welcome : Form
 public Welcome()

 private void WelNameLbl_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
  NameForm frm = new NameForm();
  WelNameLbl.Text = frm.nameValue;

Is there any way to populate an InfoPath form field with the data from the site content type column?

I have a Form library with a form template.

The templat has a field "Office name" which should not be a fixed list of values, but a dynamical list, feeded from a different type of form. I'm a novice with InfoPath - Sharepoint and I want to find out, how can I can give users a possibility to create and maintain a list of offices and also have this list as a selection list inside main library form - ALL inside one library, if possible.

I assumed that if I publish main form (Itinerary) as a library template form and lookup form (OfficeInfo) as a SiteContent, I should be able somehow to connect to siteContent column and it's information. But I cannot see how - Site Content Gallery is not appering as a Connection item.

Can I use SiteConenct for this purpose or there are other ways to create end-user lookup lists?

Thank you!

Using a sharepoint list to populate a form then capture user input

Hi.  New to this forum but looks like a great resource.  I am using MOSS2007, Infopath 2007 and Nintex workflow 2007.

I have a form that will act as a report for each of the operational sites in my company.  Each site receives freight movements on a daily basis and these are on a schedule; I am trying to record the variances to that schedule.  What I have attempted to do is the following:

  • Create a sharepoint list that contains each of the scheduled arrivals per site.
  • Connect to this list in Infopath as a secodary data source.
  • Drop this in to the form as a repeating table.
  • Filter the list of arrivals by using the conditional formatting control on the section, bound to a drop-list where the user specifies the facility/site.

What I am trying to do is present these arrivals and have the user enter an "actual" arrival time next to each, then store the results on submit.  I therefore need to know two things, 1) how to capture an "actual" value for each row in the repeating table (at the moment this is pulled in as an empty field from the list) and 2) how to store the data on submit so it is there when the form is re-opened.

I hope this makes sense, happy to give you any further information that may be required.

Thanks, Matt

is there a way to populate an infopath form with just plain code?

I'm what you consider a n00b - i've only done some basic stuff with sharepoint - debugged some stuff, but now i need to find if something's possible.

Here is what i have:
1) I have an infopath form that is hosted on our sharepoint site
2) I have a workflow that routes emails and all that fun stuff and allows end user to "complete" a workflow.

Currently users start workflows in their browsers.

Here is what i need to do:

I have created a webservice to which i will have my users send me information (same information as the infopath form collects today)

but with the twist that i will have some sort of a web app that will PUSH this information and "fill out" the infopath form thus starting the workflow process - this all to be done in the background.

My infopath forms information is stored as .xml files within sharepoint - and i'm not sure how i can create these without physically opening up the form in a browser - instead just send information to the form and POOF have it start the logic of the workflow.

Is this possible?
Please point me in the right direction

populate pdf form fields from database or XML

 Hi, I have a web app that stores data in an SQL database. What I want to be able to do is to have a pdf form with fields that I can later populate with the database info. I can either go directly from the database or I can perform an intermediate conversion to XML if that will work better. Can anyone point me towards a tutorial or a step by step explanation of how to get started? I'm pretty much a noob in the pdf world.

JQuery Validate plugin to validate a ASP.NET Form

The first time I used the JQuery Validate plugin, it did not work at all, see JQuery Validate odd behaviour with the ASP.NET Script Manager for reason, but perseverance and stubbornness prevailed and I finally created my first JQuery validated ASP.NET Forms contact form.

How to use getElementById to get the elements in a form

There are many ways of accessing form elements, of which the easiest is by using the cross-browser W3C DOM document.getElementById method. Before we learn more about this method, it would be useful to know something about the Document Object Model (DOM), the concept of HTML nodes or elements, and the concept of containers.

Each time you load an HTML page, the web browser generates an internal representation of the page in the form of an inverted tree structure. Let us look at a simple form. We will use this form later to demonstrate the use of the getElementById method.

form feild hints are not displaying for textboxses inside create user wizard?

I'm using following JS code to display input hint box besides the textbox whenever that asp.net textbox receives focus.

I'm doing this for a registration form and all of the textboxes are inside the asp.net create user wizard control.

<script type="text/javascript">
function addLoadEvent(func) {
  var oldonload = window.onload;
  if (typeof window.onload != 'function') {
    window.onload = func;
  } else {
    window.onload = function() {

function prepareInputsForHints() {
	var inputs = document.getElementsByTagName("TextBox");
	for (var i=0; i<inputs.length; i++){
		// test to see if the hint span exists first
		if (inputs[i].parentNode.getElementsByTagName("span")[0]) {
			// the span exists! on focus, show the hint
			inputs[i].onfocus = function () {
				this.parentNode.getElementsByTagName("span")[0].style.display = "inline";
			// when the cursor moves away from the field, hide the hint
			inputs[i].onblur = function () {
				this.parentNode.getElementsByTagName("span")[0].style.display = "none";

Validate form input - Japanese

 I've searched for several hours and haven't come up with a reference - or even many discussions - of how to go about validating Japanese names, addresses, etc. When I lived in Japan websites, atm's etc. required such info to be entered with the roman alphabet but I've seen some websites that are allowing Kanji/Hiragana/Katakana. I haven't tested many of them for validation but one that I did test (after looking at the page source and discovering no client-side validation) allowed me to put this in the name field: J*=123*go^ Neat!

Any pointers/references? Thanks
