Search not crawling Tags?

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 19, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
I created a Word document in a library and then added a tag.  I did a full crawl and the tag that I created is not bringing the document up in the search results.  How do I make the search crawl all content?

SharePoint Server 2010 Search - not returning results but crawling without errors

I have created a Search Service Application on a SharePoint Server 2010 (RTM) Farm and used the default Content Source. I started a Full Crawl and it suceeded with no errors etc. I ran it a few times and no issues. But if I go to the Intranet Portal Web Appliaction and do a search for a document that would have been crawled it does not show up in search results...nothing does. I am not getting any errors in Event Log or ULS Logs relevant to Search. How can I troubleshoot this problem further?SharePoint Solution Architect, Perth Australia - Microsoft Virtual Technology Specialist - MCTS WSS Dev, WSS Adm, MOSS Dev, MOSS Adm - http://wss.made4the.net/ - Founder of http://www.sharepointdevwiki.com/

Search Server 2010 Express Error when crawling LOB Data with BCS Error while crawling LOB contents.

Ok so search server is crawling our BCS external data source which has some columns that allow null. When it hits a null in one of these columns it dies out with: Error while crawling LOB contents. ( '.', hexadecimal value 0x00, is an invalid character. Line 94, position 11. ) This is in the crawl log Is the a Fix / Update / Work around for this (other than modifying the table, taking off allow nulls and using a "blank" default value)

BDC model in Search Server 2010 indexing error - Error while crawling LOB contents. ( Not a valid Wi

I have created a .NET connector assembly that pulls data from an in-house .asmx web service.  I have successfully created an external list in a search center site that displays this data without problem.   However, I've run into an error and a warning when indexing this list in search server 2010 for which I cannot find much information.  I've configure a content source with LOB data as the content source type and select my external data source from the list. After running a full crawl, I receive this error: Error while crawling LOB contents. ( Not a valid Win32 FileTime. ) And this warning: The content for this address was excluded by the crawler because this item was marked with a no-index meta-tag. To index this item, remove the meta-tag and recrawl. My .NET connector assembly looks like this:   public static WeatherEntity ReadItem(string id) { foreach (WeatherEntity entity in GetAllEntities()) { if (entity.LocationAbbreviation == id) { return entity; } } return null; } public static IEnumerable<WeatherEntity> ReadList() { return GetAllEntities().ToArray(); } public static List<WeatherEntity> GetAllEntities() { List<WeatherEntity> weatherEntities = new List<WeatherEntity>(); WeatherService.WeatherWS service = new WeatherService.WeatherWS(); WeatherService.DsWeatherDa

How to exclude xml tags from fulltext search?

We have an XML string stored in an ntext column (one tag being named "<Fields>", along with some string values, in a table with a fulltext index. In doing a CONTAINS query, I found that searching on "Fields" returns every record in the table. So I added the string <Fields> to a custom stoplist and attached it to the fulltext index, but now the fulltext index doesn't contain any values for "Fields", either. (must be ignoring the brackets) Is there a way to exclude "<Fields>" without excluding "Fields"?

Trouble crawling dynamic pages for Sharepoint Search

When I crawl my company's website, it indexes all of the base pages but does not crawl through our product catalog (http://www.website.com?products.php?category=1&product=1).

Any ideas?

WSS Search: Crawling starts but never ends

we had a working WSS for document management. Unfortunately at one day we saw, that the index is not refreshed any more, because we had old data in the index from deleted documents and new documents were not found.

We recreated the search database, but we never got any results, the index seemed to be empty. That's when we startedd digging into the search database, as we didn't get any event log, sharepoint log or other error entries.

We found the table MSSCrawlHistory, which contains all Crawl-Jobs that have been started. After database recreation there were numerous correct entries with statuscode 11, but at 23:55 an incremental crawl job was started, but never ended (statuscode 4 and NULL value in field "EndTime"). After this there was only one other entry six days later, with the same symptom.

We set the statuscode of both entries to 11 and waited. The result was, that two new jobs were created, but both are stuck at statuscode 4 ...

Anyone had this problem and knows a solution?

It seems that the job is correctly started, but something keeps him from indexing the content and correctly ending the job...

Sharepoint 2010 Search Results crawling content on Quick Launch

I have a custom search scope defined for a site.  When I search, it is returning results for text that it is finding on the quick launch menu.  (For example, if the listname 'Tickets' is on the Quick Launch and the user searches for 'Tickets', all of the pages in the site get returned because the word 'Tickets' is on the Quick Launch)

Is this correct?  Is there any way to override that?

Search not Crawling

I have 2 web applications( test site and production site) on the same server and they are both included under one content source called "local Sharepoint sites" I have initiated a crawl several times but they failed. Nonetheless, the search on the test site is returning results regardless of the fact that the crawls have failed, but the production site is yet to return any results. I am not getting any error messages so i know it is just not crawling. My question is, why is the test site crawling and the production site isn't? I have also tried creating two separate content sources for both web applications and that didn't work.

I would try adding search user to the Windows Authorization Access group and make the server boot to front-end but the problem only exists within one web application. Can anyone please help me? Thanks.

MS SQL Server: Search All Tables, Columns & Rows For Data or Keyword Query

If you need to search your entire database for specific data, this query will come in handy.

So when a client needs a custom report or some sort of custom development using Great Plains, most of the time I will have to track down the data in the system by running this query and find the table(s) it is in.

SharePoint Gets Search Analytics

Microsoft's SharePoint Portal Server 2003 was sold into a large number of organizations based solely on the strength of the search tool. Organizations hungered for a way to find the data they had generated.

Using SharePoint Search feature in ASP.Net Application

Integrating ASP.Net application in to MOSS 2007 to utilize SharePoint Enterprise Search Feature can be done by using Business Data Search.

Adding Search Refinements in SharePoint 2010

I have been playing around with SharePoint 2010 Search this morning. I love the new UI. The search refinements panel is just begging to be messed with. In my case I wanted to add the file extension JPG as an Image Type refiner.
