Not able to check in the documents

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 19, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

I have a document library on sharepoint 2010 site. I can check out a document, edit it and then save it. but i am not able check in back the file (from client app, example: word/powerpoint) . it throws an error "there has been network or file permission error". I am checking the option "use my local drafts folder" while checking out the document (If I dont choose this option, It doesn't let me edit the document). I have enabled basic authentication on this site. I tried on other machines also with no luck. I tried to check in the file directly from "sharepoint drafts" (under mydocuments) folder and got the same error at the end.

Can anyone suggest me on what could be wrong here? Thanks for your time.

Regards, Sujasree

Is there something else I need to 'check' to approve multiple documents

I can't seem to approve multiple documents even when following the proper procedure.

I'm using MOSS, with an internet/Publishing site.  I go to site actions >> manage Content, check the checkboxes next to the items I need approved/checked in (they all have the same 'status' like draft, or pending), I click either approve or check in/publish depending on what I'm trying to do, and the only item that gets approved is the last item I checked.

There is a workflow attached that when I click approve, I'm brought to the approval workflow page to add approvers and such, but it only lists one item for approval.

Anyone have any idea why that is, or has anyone experienced this before?

Please heeeeeeeeeeeelp.

User cannot Check In documents

I accidentally posted this in the 2010 forums so I am reposting here:

We are running MOSS 2007 SP2 and one of our users is having an issue when checking a document into a document library.  Here are the steps the user is following:

  • Navigate to document library
  • User clicks on document and it opens in Excel 2007
  • User clicks File>Server>Check Out and document is checked out (User receives message that local drafts folder will be used)
  • User makes an edit to the document.  When they click File, the only available options are Save and Save As.  User clicks Save
  • After save, user clicks File>Server>Check In (this is grayed out until user clicks Save in previous step)
  • User enters any version notes and clicks OK
  • When user tries to exit Excel, following error is received:

Other users cannot see your changes until you check in.  Do you want to check in now? (No matter how many times the user clicks "Yes", the same message pops up and the document is never checked in)

If the user clicks "No" on the above warning, the document remains checked out but Excel closes.  If the user clicks on the Document dropdown list and clicks "Check In" from there, they see this error:

The document was chec

Using a CompareValidator to check input is a valid date

The CompareValidator can do more than just compare two controls. You can also compare it against several of the main .net data types such as Date, Integer, Double and Currency.

To do this you would set Operator="DataTypeCheck" and instead of setting the ControlToCompare or ValueToCompare attributes as you normally would you use the Type="Date" (or any of the data types I have listed above).

Check All with JQuery and a Asp.Net GridView

Display a Grid on the screen with a checkbox in each row. At the bottom of the page have "Check All" button.

Typically if I need to do anything interesting I use a template column. So my GridView will look like the one below (most other columns removed for readability). The only interesting point to note is the CssClass="ApprovalCheckBox" in the CheckBox ItemTemplate.

Web Service for uploading documents into SharePoint

WS UploadService is a web service written for Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 and Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 and is meant for uploading documents into SharePoint. I have just uploaded the zip file to GotDotNet.com so it will take some time before the zip file appears in the list of downloads. For the time being, you can download the zip file from the following location

check box control

Hi ,

I have a three check box in my web form ,i need to choose only one check box, if i choose one check box

another 2 check box automatically unchecked

can i use jquery for check box

I thought this would be simple... Trying to create a login does an ajax check before submit

I have the standard .net login control that is working.  (Still learning .net after 15yrs of classic)

What I want to do is OnButtonClick run a javascript function (to do an ajax call to the db to check if login is valid or not) and if it returns true, then submit the form normally, else don't submit. The piece that I can't figure out, is how to correctly override the default click even to hit my JS routine and then submit the form properly afterwards.

Thanks ahead of time

how to check a textbox value in jquery?

I want to perform some action when an asp.net textbox value length is greater than 1 character. And for this I wanted to know how to write this check in jquery?

I have created a check like below-

if ($('[id=txtUserInput]').val().length > 2)
{ do some work...}

But its giving me the following error

$("[id=txtUserInput]").val() is undefined

Can anybody let me know the right way of doing this?

How to check for null/empty strings on dynamic objects?

What is the proper way to check for null or empty strings on dynamic objects? This is the only solution I've found so far:

if (admin.PasswordHash.GetType() == typeof(DBNull) || admin.PasswordHash == string.Empty)

If the field is null, the object returned is DBNull.Value, but if the field is empty string, it's return as a System.String object. This makes it impossible to do regular "admin.PasswordHash == DBNull.Value" check, as that will fail whenever the field has been set to empty string. Is my example the right (and only) way to go?

Automatically redirect to HTTPS and check if SSL is active

I've set in the web.config:

    <!-- User Authentication -->
    <authentication mode="Forms">
      <forms loginUrl="~/Page/View/Content/Login.aspx" timeout="2880" requireSSL="true" />

This works fine. If there is no ssl connection, the login form doesn't continue. But I would like to check if ssl is active (in codebehind) and, if it's possible, to automatically the user to the https page if he's currently on http. (I could do this job by manually redirect with page.response("https://url.../login.aspx"); but this is not really generic. For example if the webapp is moved to another domain it doesn't work anymore... I'm looking for something like: FormsAuthentication.RedirectWithSSL(); or so... :D)

Office Services: Merging Word Documents on the Server Side with SharePoint 2010

Office 2010 and SharePoint 2010 include a new set of components called Application Services. These put a rich set of tools in a developer's bag for Office automation. We'll show you how to use Office OpenXML, Word Automation Services and SharePoint to build a simple application that merges separate status reports into a single document.

SharePoint and Open XML: Generating Documents from SharePoint Using Open XML Content Controls

This article describes how to generate documents that contain data stored in SharePoint lists. The example demonstrates how OpenXML content controls can be defined to capture list data in a Word document and how LINQ to XML can be used to query the lists. The documents are generated from a SharePoint Web Part.
