VS BCS Deployment Problem

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 19, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

I set up my SP dev site without a root site (I am just learning at the moment). So I am developing on http://spdev/sites/sitecollection1. For the most part it is fine but I'm having a problem installing a BCS solution developed in VS.

Firstly it was trying to deploy to the root, which doesn't exist. I changed the features XML to deal with this so

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
<Feature xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/">

Problem with precompiling web application for deployment

Hi,I'm developing a web application consisting of several DLLs. I have no problem whatsoever compiling en building the application from within Visual Studio 2008 itself. But when I try to precompile the application (for deployment) from the VS command prompt, I get compilation errors.One of the errors is: "Could not load file or assembly 'wsCore' or one of its dependecies. The system cannot find the file specified".How can it be that VS2008 is perfectly capable of compiling the application from within the IDE and that same application can't be compiled from the command prompt?What am I missing here?

Visual Studio 2010, MVC2.0, IIS7, .NET4 deployment problem

I have a problem where I can get an MVC2.0 application using .NET3.5 running in IIS, but when I upgrade it to .NET4.0, the browser just reports error 500 Internal Server Error. The problem is easy to replicate as follows.  Firstly, to show it works with .NET3.5: Create a new MVC2.0 application in Visual Studio 2010, using the inbuilt starter template. Run the application using the development server, and the Home & About pages display fine. Publish the application to a directory. Copy the directory to a subdirectory under inetpub/wwwroot on my Vista computer, running IIS7 Create a new application in IIS Manager & select the DefaultAppPool (integrated pipeline) Browse the application and Home & About pages are displayed. Then the problem I have is after upgrading to .NET4.0: Change to .NET4.0 for the project in Visual Studio Build & this runs fine with the development server. Publish the application & set up IIS as before, except choosing the application pool ASP.NET v4.0 (integrated pipeline) Browse the application, and I get the 500 Internal Server Error I'm guessing there is some extra configuration required - can anyone help? I've deliberately used the default MVC installation to eliminate any variables caused by my programming .. Thanks in advance, Steve

Deployment and processing problem

I have an analysis services project in Visual Studio, and now I added a column to one of the tables composing the dimensions (it's a MOLAP DB) and made it the primary key, and then I updated the tables composing the measure groups by deleting the key field to the dimension table and replacing it with a field that refers to the new column in the dimension table. The problem is that when trying to deploy the changes, I get errors for the measure group tables that say the data source view doesn't contain a definition for the old column that I deleted and thus of course is not supposed to be there. Why can't it identify the change and process it correctly, and what can I do?

Problem With SQL CLR Deployment

Hi all,

I have a question about a SQL CLR solution I'm trying to deploy with VS 2010.  My solution consists of 2 projects that each contain SQL CLR UDFs and SPs.  There's also a UDT in the first project.  This compiles and VS 2010 deploys it just fine.  Now when I add a SQL CLR UDT to the second project VS 2010 suddenly can't deploy the project.  It fails with the following errors:

C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v10.0\TeamData\Microsoft.Data.Schema.SqlClr.targets(96,5): error MSB4018: The "SqlClrDeployTask" task failed unexpectedly.

Problem with XCopy deployment of SQL Server CE 3.5 SP2 Beta

As ErikEJ's article says (http://erikej.blogspot.com/2009/10/whats-new-in-sql-server-compact-35-sp2.html), "...Notice the “Private” folder, which contains a version of System.Data.SqlServerCe.Dll which should be used for private deployments, to prevent the “Assembly probing” issue".

I have following app.config file:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
      <remove invariant="System.Data.SqlServerCe.3.5" />
      <add name="Microsoft SQL Server Compact Data Provider"
           description=".NET Framework Data Provider for Microsoft SQL Server Compact"
                 PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91" />

Cotent Deployment - Problem with locked file

I'm trying to deploy the content from one server to another using the built-in "content deployment job".

Interminently, I receive the following error during the "Exporting" phase:

Content deployment job 'xyz' failed.The exception thrown was 'System.IO.IOException' : 'The process cannot access the file '00003682.dat' because it is being used by another process.'

The .dat file name is not always the same...

I am the only user connected / accessing the computer and there is enough space available on the C and D drives and .

Is there a logical cause to this problem.
