Permissions Reporting Tool Not showing all features - SPS3.0

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 19, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

I just installed the Sharepoint Admin Tools ver 4.0 and went through the deployment and activation of the Permission Reporting Tool.  Everything appears to have installed correctly and the tool does show as deployed and activated.

The problem I am having is when I go to a sites settings, the only option from the Permission Reporting Tool that is listed under Users and Permissions is the "Check Effective Permissions".  "Broken Inheritance Report" and "Compare Permission Sets" options are not shown anywhere that I can find.

Any suggestions on what I can possibly to do or what is maybe going on?  I'm new to SharePoint and not quite sure which direction to go in.  The only thing I could think of is that maybe these options aren't available with SPS 3.0?\

Any help is appreciated, Thanks!

Reporting Services Sharepoint Add-in not showing links in Sharepoint Central Administration

Hi. I've just installed RS Sharepoint Add-in on Sharepoint farm and have the issue, that links to configure RS in Sharepoint are not showed in Central Administration Site->Application Management, and RS features can't be activated for web app. My configuration is: A separate DBMS on Windows 2008 SP2 x64, SQL 2008 SP1 x64, with MOSS and RS dbs. Web frontend: Win 2008 SP2 x64, Sharepoint 2007 SP2, RS 2008 SP1. What I did: installed RS and RS Sharepoint Add-in on web frontend, configured RS to Sharepoint mode (http://frontend:portnumber/Reportserver displays reports catalogs, reports shows message about configuring RS to Sharepoint mode), tried to set Sharepoint from central admin - links were not displayed. Reinstalled the add-in and tried to configure again - links not displayed. Reinstalled the add-in from the account used to install MOSS - links not displayed. Please help.

Reporting Services Forms Authentication and group permissions

Hello all,

I have spent some time getting Forms Authentication working with 2008 (R2) I have one final problem left that is causing intense frustration...

The working bits:

a) Built and tested the required extension - thanks to a combination of old Microsoft example supplemented by the one from chapter 19 of Teo Lachev's book, supplemented by Brian Lawson's book.

b) used existing user/group structures in the db to implement role level permissions

c) Can now grant rights to usernames and the usernames validated against our db, they can log in fine and run reports.

d) Nice customised login screens that login across the application and Reporting Services with a single login - which was the primary aim after all!

e) can grant rights to folders at group level and granting/revoking those rights adds or removes the folders in ReportManager - all looking wonderful

The last hurdle:

If I grant permissions to a specific username (we use email address as the username) then that user can log in to ReportManager fine and see what they should see, so it seems like the bulk of the authentication and authorisation extension logic is OK.

If I grant the exact same permission to a role, and make a login a member of that role (removing the specific username permission) then they

SharePoint tool - update metadata, permissions of sites, lists, listitems

Hi All,

I am setting a SharePoint test environment with loads of data.

I could some how manage to use tools to populate data in Sharepoint.

But I couldn't find a way to

1) Modify the sites/lists/listitems in an easy way without me havng to manually perform that

As I had 200GB of data with some thousands of sites and lists, I am not able to manage this data manually.

For my testing to run smoothly, I need to be able to add/delete/modify the metadata, permissions of many objects easily

Can someone suggest me  a tool which allows me to do this kind of functionality

Thanks

Carol

As you probably know, Visual Studio 2010 was announced earlier this week and it contains a lot of cool features and project templates for SharePoint developers. Below is a short overview for some of the SharePoint development related features and project templates.

New Features in Windows SharePoint Services 3.0

Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 (WSS 3.0) is the next version of WSS 2.0, released on 2007, and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (MOSS 2007) is built on top of this.
