Document Library incoming email attachments not showing To/From information

Posted By: Posted Date: October 19, 2010 Points: 0 Category :SharePoint

I have a document library setup to accept incoming emails as attachments.

When I send an email the document library receives it, the only problem is it doesn't show any of the header information such as who sent it, who it was sent to, who was CC'ed. Is there any way to have this information shown?

Basically what I'm expecting to see before the body message is the From, To and CC.

Any help would be most appreciated.

why email and attachments not separated in email enabled document library?

I noticed that an email-enabled document library sometime separates email and attachments and it ends up with multiple items in the library; sometimes it does and it ends up with one item.

How do we control this or what is the trick here?

This is really frustrating!

Document Library Open popup no longer showing

Hi, I am seeing some strange behaviour. I have a collaboration site on exactly the same server as the others and which I click on a document in the document library, I get a popup message with two radio buttons asking if I want to open the document as read-only or in edit mode. This is what I want. However on a seperate site with a document library when I click on a document, I instead get a popup message asking if I Save or Open the document with no radio button! Does anyone know why this is happening?

List lookup to document library not showing folder names

Hi all, I've got a Sharepoint List, which has a lookup field to a Document Library on the same site. That document library library is populated with several folders, each with several Word documents within. I want my lookup (in the List) to only display the top level folders in the document library. I managed to do that in my test environment. But in my production environment doesn't list the folder names. I've compared the settings in the two and they look identical. What could be wrong, and how to I fix it so that the folder names appear? I'm using SharePoint 2007. Thanks in advance for the help.

Unable to filter the "E-mail To" field in email enabled document library

Hi, We have setup a few email enabled docuement libraries to store emails relating to project work. Is there a way to make the "E-mail To" field in the library be filtered? It is greyed out and doesnt give you the option. The "E-mail From" and "E-mail Subject" are able to have a filter applied to them but for some reason the "E-mail To" field wont let you filter the content. The probelm is that there are over 500 files in the library and the easiest way to find messages is to be able ot filter this column in the library if it is at all possible.

Showing the SPBuiltInFieldId.ItemChildCount Field in a Document Library View?

Is it possible to display the number of items contained within a sub-folder within a document library? When the user opens up the document library, he would like to see next to any sub-folder the number of items contained in that subfolder without having to navigate into it.

In the MSDN documentation there is a built-in field, SPBuiltInFieldId.ItemChildCount, where the number of items is kept. Can this field be used to accomplish this requirement? If so, is there any information on using the SharePoint object model on how to expose it? It is not accessible from the Document Library Settings.

With incoming email enabled, how can I open an email associated to a library

I have deployed the feature in a advanced scenario.

All work fine, I am able to recieve emails in a library and I can see it in the list with the rest of the documents of the library.

My "problem" is that I can not open it. I can download it in my desktop and then I can open it, but now I can not open it in the browser, like e.g. .doc or .xls

I have noticed that there are some features in library tools/documents like check out (enable) and check in (disable), and I don't know if I have to configure this options.

Some idea¿?

Thanks in advance.

Sharepoint 2007 delay in files are not showing up in document library

When saving a file from ie. an email attachment into a sharepoint document library the files show up in explorer view of the document library but there is about a 20 minutes delay before they show up in the default view of the document library. This is quite frustrating as because you can not see it there the users try to save as again.

This seems to work correctly in our test sharepoint environment. Does anyone have any ideas as where to start looking.

Providing a link in an email to a document in another document library

I am developing a custom workflow using Sharepoint Designer 2007 in which workflow has to send a notification email with a link to a document which is in another document library. For eg: Doc A in Library A ( to which workflow is attached) sending an email with a link to Doc B in Library B.(Doc B is a document having specific information about Doc A.) Can this be done? When i tried, i am getting HTTP 404 error. Workflow is initiated manually. I am having site collection Admin rights. Has anyone done this? Any help appreciated. Thanks in Advance.

Error when providing email setting into document library setting.

I am trying to create Email enable SharePoint Lists and Libraries so users can send an email directly to it. This is a great functionality for users to be able to contribute directly from their inboxes.

I am following this video

I am using SharePoint 2007.

I have configured Incoming email setting in Central Administration->Operations.

After this I have used Shared Document. I went to Setting of Shared Document Library.
Then I set options like:

Allow this document library to receive e-mail? -> Yes
Email Address : shareddoc@sharepoint.local.com
Group attachments in folders? -> Save all attachments in folders grouped by e-mail sender
Overwrite files with the same name? -> No
Save original e-mail? -> No
Save meeting invitations?  -> No
E-mail security policy: -> Accept e-mail messages based on document library permissions

After providing this setting, I clicked on OK button and I got an error :
Error in the application.

I checked Log file and event viewer also, but there is not entry fou

sharepoint 2010 Document Library - Email as attachment

I am disappointed to see that SharePoint 2010 does not appear to offer the ability to send a document from a document library as an attachment. We use Sharepoint to control our documents as such we forbid, by policy, storing local copies of documents as there is no way to ensure that they are the current version (cached local kept in sync with a sharepoint library is allowed). When Sales, Marketing, Customer Service wants to send a set of documents to a customer, they currently copy all the documents they need to a temp folder on their computer, attach all the documents from the folder to an email, then delete the temporary folder.

I was hoping with all the improved integration, that the library and more valuable would be a view of the library (as it is filtered and sorted) would be accessible to use when selecting attachments. Or the reverse - select a set of documents from a library view and choose email as attachment.

The closest options I have come up with is to open the library in explorer which allows dragging and dropping the documents into the email, but there does not appear to be a way to search or filter the items in the explorer view of the library.

Help me out, is there a better way to do this? Can Sharepoint workspace help me here? This is a common complaint at my o

Hyperlink not showing correctly in display view of document library

I have a publishing hyperlink column in a document library called "Related Documents". When I click on the link the select a hyperlink, I can link it to another document in my library. On the edit view it display correct, i.e. it shows the name of the document with it corresponding icon.

When I view the properties of the document, it does not show the "Related Documents" correctly. It displays the actual code, i.e. file name

How can I get it display the same a in the Edit view?
