Accessing code in InfoPath 2003 forms from Visual Studio 2005

Can vbscript code contained in an InfoPath 2003 form be accessed from VS2005 on a machine running Office 2010? We are testing Office 2010 our our PC's and the custom task pane code that works just fine on PC's running Office/InfoPath 2007 does not run on the test PC's. I've been reading that the vbscript code in the form can't be edited directly when opening the form in InfoPath 2010, but that's not what I'm trying to do. I want to access the vbscript code through the .Extension property of the XDocument object from client side javascript code on an .aspx page like we have done for years. The existing code, which runs perfectly on PC's with Office/InfoPath 2007,  looks like this ... var xDoc = window.external.Window.XDocument; xDoc.Extension.UserLookupDone (userid); When run on PC's with Office/InfoPath 2010 the code throws error "Class doesn't support Automation". Are we trying something that is no longer possible? Any help is appreciated.

Accessing solution properties in code at design time

Hello all,

We have a project working with WCF embedded in a WindowsService. To facilitate testing, we have a Client Form and a Host Form. This project has multiple WCF services so we have 4 ClientForms and 4 HostForms. We are using multiple start up projects in the solution which is accessed by right clicking the Solution file at design time and selecting multiple clients and hosts. I would like to put that functionality on a form to allow dynamic switching (eg a series of check boxes for Client1, Host1, Client3, Host3, etc).

I'm guessing this pertains to using EVNDTE but I have not used that very much recently. Can this be done fairly easily, and if so, would someone be kind enough to post some code to get me started? Thanks in advance for any ideas and / or suggestions!

Have a great day!

Looking for sample code for a popup windows when hovering over a TEXTAREA element

Hi all

My final HTML code creates dynamically many TEXTAREAs elements which contain multi-lines content. The contents of these elements are refreshed every 5 seconds. The problem is when the user hover over the TEXTAREA my current code does show the popup window but it disappear when the DIV area is refreshed.

So I am looking for a sample code which will popup a window and display the content of each TEXTAREA when I hover the mouse over. BUT I wanted the window to stay and NOT dissapear after each DIV refresh. If a "Close" "X" icon is necessary to achieve the goal that would be fine too.

PS: I have used the AJAX HoverMenuExtender but since my Textboxes are inside a UpdatePanel which refreshes the content of the Textboxes every 5 seconds, the Popup disappears and I need it to stay so the user can see the whole content.

Thanks for your help.

Code Optimized Web Development Profile (VS 2010 and .NET 4.0 Series)

When you first run VS 2010 it prompts you to select an IDE profile to use. The profile you select will configure how tool windows are displayed/docked in the IDE by default and set the default keyboard shortcuts. You can then customize any of these settings by using the Tools->Options menu within the IDE and then override/change them. You can also later reset your profile and pick a different one by choosing the Tools->Import and Export Settings menu command.

call JavaScript - jQuery code from ASP.NET Server-Side

jQuery got so close to me lately that I can see myself adding the scripts to my project almost unconsciously. The thing is, jQuery is very useful for me, in almost all situations and it has been a do or die enhancement for all my project since I first put my hands on it.

Of course while using it, you encounter few situations which need a bit of research to solve, mostly when you are trying to combine it with some other technologies like: UpdatePanels and ASP.NET Ajax. For instance there are many situations when I would like to run some jQuery magic based on some decision that I make on the server side.

Microsoft StyleCop: Source Code Analyzer for C#

StyleCop is similar in many ways to Microsoft Code Analysis (specifically FxCop), but there are some important distinctions. FxCop performs its analysis on compiled binaries, while StyleCop analyzes the source code directly. For this reason, FxCop focuses more on the design of the code, while StyleCop focuses on layout, readability and documentation. Most of that information is stripped away during the compilation process, and thus cannot be analyzed by FxCop.

Accessing SharePoint 2010 Data with Server-Side APIs

C# and XML Source Code Documentation

Through many years of enterprise level software development and consulting, I became critically aware of the importance of good source code documentation, and several years ago when I began working with the first release of Visual Studio .NET beta 1 and found C# provided built-in support for inline XML code documentation, I was thrilled.

Summary: Learn how to make your applications use bar code scanners in a generic way-ndependent of the specific bar code scanners that are used on different devices. Using the design patterns Façade and Factory, the implementation not only supports multiple bar code scanners, but it also makes it easy to add support for other bar code scanners. After a brief discussion about bar code scanners and the bar code scanner pattern, a download code sample, written in C#, demonstrates the use of the pattern and technologies.
