Login Control fires sporadically

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 19, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

I have a login control in a user control that is in amodal popup. Occassionally, when the login buttoon is clicked, nothing happens.  Click it 20 times, nothing happens, no error, no nothing.

Why would this work some of the time and not others?

Her is my usercontrol code:

<%@ Control Language="VB" ClassName="ucStorUserLogn" EnableViewState="true" %>

<script runat="server">
    Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs)
        Dim tbUN As TextBox = liLogn.FindControl("UserName")
        tbUN.Focus()
        If Profile.StorID = 13 Then
            hlChng.NavigateUrl = "~/Store/RgstPwRC.aspx"
        ElseIf Profile.StorID <> 13 And Profile.StorID.ToString <> "" Then
            hlChng.NavigateUrl = "~/Partners/RgstPwRC.aspx?StorID=" + Profile.StorID.ToString
        End If

    End Sub

    Protected Sub liLogn_Authenticate(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.AuthenticateEventArgs)
        e.Authenticated = Membership.ValidateUser(liLogn.UserName, liLogn.Password)
        If Not e.Authenticated Then
            mxeLogn.Show()
        End I

How to modify the login control

Hi,

I'd like to record more information than the default control allows as well as perform actions with the input when the form is submitted but I'm having trouble figuring out how.

So firstly, if I want to record the middlename for example, how would I do that, and by default, where would it go if anywhere?
When the form is submitted, I'd like to take specific input, such as just the middlename for example, and write some linq to sql code to specify when and how it's stored.
In what event would I put this code?

Thanks

Customize failure text for login control

Hi all,

I would like to show the failure text in a client-side alert box for login control in c#. Please help me if there is an easy way to convert it from vb.net to c#.net. Thanks a lot!

Protected Sub Login1_LoginError(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Login1.LoginError
'Display the failure message in a client-side alert box
ClientScript.RegisterStartupScript(Me.GetType(), "LoginError", _
String.Format("alert('{0}');", Login1.FailureText.Replace("'", "\'")), True)

 End Sub

 Converted, but it doesn't work.

protected void Login1_LoginError(object sender, System.EventArgs e)
{
    //Display the failure message in a client-side alert box
    ClientScript.RegisterStartupScript(this.GetType(), "LoginError", string.Format("alert('{0}');", Login1.FailureText.Replace("'", "\\'")), true);
}

Login control is suddenly broken in IE7 but works perfectly on Firefox (It works on both browsers lo

Hey Guys,

 I'm new around and I thought this is probably the best place to help me solve my dilemma, I am developing a website for almost a year now and the login control was implemented a logn time ago, however all of a sudden it will not authenticate on Internet Explorer 7 when the application is published, it doesn't even provide a message that authentication was unseccssful or throws any error, it just refreshes the same page. however this problem doesn't occure when I try the same website on FireFox 2.0...Also when I run the page locally on Cassini it work great on both browsers...This is one of the weirdest errors I have ever faced. what could have gone wrong on the server side to cause this? knowing nothing changed on the server-side...I'll provide a snapshot of the login control below

<asp:Login ID="LoginControl" runat="server" BackColor="Trans

Login control not working in IE7

I spent the last few weeks getting a client site up and running, but all the while I was doing all my testing with Firefox.

I tried seeing what it would look like in IE7, and everything is great.  Except that I cannot login with it.

 I do not know for the life of me why.

Any ideas?

 I am using VWD 2008 and i have a 3.5 web.

 Thanks.

Issue with Remember Me on User Login control

Hi everyone,

     I hope you can help me, I tried Google, but none of the solutions worked. Using VB.net and Membership, I have a login control in my master page with a remember me check box. When I check this box and login, some pages indicate that I am not logged in. If I go to another page, it will then indicate that I am still logged in. I have isolated one page that always indicates I am not logged in the first time I visit it, but if log in a second time and then go to it, it will finally recognize me as a user that is properly logged in.

Some pages that this occurs on is in the top level, some pages are in a sub folder.

My MasterPage has the following Form Code:

<body bgcolor="#E0ECF9" topmargin="0" leftmargin="0">

user control derived from System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebParts only fires its OnPreRender and CreateCh

 I have a application which uses webparts.

So my user controls are derived from System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebParts which makes them webparts.

I have everything setup and working fine as far as the personalization and webpart goes... every thing displays and works fine.

Except that 1 of my control needs to do a bit of work in the OnPreRender event and it turns out that event only gets fired when a user is loged in the application.

So lets imagine that an administrator while logged in switched to 'Sharedscope' within the webpartmanager and then has added the usercontrol/webpart 'calendar' to the top webpart zone. This then makes the 'calendar' control viewable by all and any user who visits the page wheter logged in or anonymous.

And this works fine and very well as it is supposed to. However in the 'Calendar' user control which is derived from System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebParts I have an overiden 'OnPreRender' event like this:

Protected Overrides Sub OnPreRender(ByVal e As EventArgs)

If Not Me.DesignMode Then

Me.isloaded = True

' Test for ScriptManager and register if it exists

sm = ScriptManager.GetCurrent(Page)

If sm Is Nothing Then _

Throw New HttpException("A ScriptManager control must exist on the current page.")

Login control - Controls do not exist in current context

Hi all,Trying to set up the Login control as a User control, but none of the controls exist in the current context?None of my code below is recognised? What's going on here please? I've rebuilt the solution many times.if (Membership.ValidateUser(this.UserName.Text, this.Password.Text))        {            FormsAuthentication.RedirectFromLoginPage(UserName.Text, RememberMe.Checked);        }        else        {             Msg.Text = "Login failed. Please check your user name and password and try again.";        }

Login Control

Hello everybody. I am new in ASP.NET and currently working on my first web application. It is my college project. This is basically an online leave application. Which consists various label, text field etc. Now I am thinking to do this job by the following procedure. Suppose in the time of the recruitment, an organization will give a username (it may be the name of the employee) and a defined password. Now that user should logged-in to fill up his/her leave application from designed web site. When the user logged in the leave application form will be filled up by his/her name, designation etc. And there will be other things also. My team and I will submit the project along with arbitrary examples of employee. So basically what I have to do is to implement a login control with database. I want to know how I can do this job. I don't need any code. Only information/idea/any useful link will be very helpful to me. Thank you.

How to control the client login.

Hello, I am working on an application where it stores information that different clients will be using. I need to figure out how to show the current client logged in only what they have posted to the application and not everything that has been posted to the application. Client 1 logs in and sees what they have posted; client 2 loggs in and sees what they have posted.....etc. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?   Thanks, Rick

Problem with LayoutTemplate and the Login-control

Hi, I'm trying to make a login-form for my website, but i needed to customize the standard-layout, because the validators made the login-button move a couple of pixels to the right of the textfieldsWhen using the LayoutTemplate, I can't seem to get the login to work.. When adding a button with "Login" as the ID, shouldn't that button handle the loginprocess from the membership-providers validateuser-method?If not, and I'm supposed to handle the loginprocess myself? And if so, how do I get to the validateuser-method? I don't wanna have the method in two seperate places if I can avoid it..
