Updating the AJAX Control Toolkit from VS 2005 to either VS 2008 or VS 2010

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 19, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

At work we've got a ASP.NET app written using VS 2005.  At the time I downloaded and installed the AJAX Control Toolkit from off of this website.  We've been using it ever since, in that website.

Now I'd like to upgrade that website to either VS 2008 or VS 2010, but I'm concerned about the AJAX Control Toolkit.  If memory serves, I think that it came with VS 2008, and I would assume it certainly is a part of VS 2010.  Do I have to remove any reference to the AJAX Control Toolkit, before trying to upgrade it?  Or after upgrading it?  How do I make it reference the AJAX Control Toolkit that's a part of VS 2008/VS 2010?

VWDE 2010 Won't Install Ajax Control Toolkit on XP Pro

To my displeasure I cannot find VWD2005 which at one time would generate a complete web.config for Ajax so I downloaded and installed VWDE 2010 to a clean install of XP Pro.

I've created a new tab on the toolbar for the controls but after I select the Ajax dll to add the controls to the toolbar it grinds away and then goes poof and closes down the task leaving VWD look as if I had never even created the tab in the toolbar.

Any advice here?

Installing in VS 2010 Ajax Control Toolkit 3.5.... Where do I extract the files to after it's downl

Does it matter where I extract the downloaded AjaxControlToolkit files?  Do I extract them to my pc, or to my server?   In a specific VS2010 folder?  Not seeing any documentation on this..

Ajax Control Toolkit for Framework 2.0 in Visual Studio 2010

I am new to ASP.NET and am using VS 2010 on a standalone machine to develop a web application in framework 2.0. The 3.5 Ajax Control Toolkit I have in my Toolbox tab is greyed out for my 2.0 app, but not for a test 3.5 app, so I am assuming I need to download Tookit just for 2.0 and for VS 2010. I am not sure where to find the right Toolkit. Everything I have found is for 3.5 or 4.0 and/or not for VS 2010. Thanks!

If i use signs like ÃƒÂ« in the HTML Editor, in IE, its ok, and works. But if i use ë in firefox in the same page with the HTML Editor. If i press safe the ë is converted to: ? In IE its working well, but 50% of the users of the system i build are using Firefox. So it should work in all editors......

Procedure to move all SP 2010 databases from SQL 2005 to SQL 2008 R2

I have a single SharePoint 2010 WFE with a single SQL 2005 64-bit backend.  I need to decomission the SQL 2005 server.  What is the best procedure to move all the SharePoint associated databases to SQL 2008 R2? I have already read this MS doc on moving all databases: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc512725.aspx So the actual move procedure is standard SQL fodder. What I'm not clear about is what to do about the "other" SharePoint databases and how to reassociate them once the DBs are on the new SQL server.  For example, the Usage and Health DB is going to "Wss_Logging" and it specifies my old SQL server.  It is greyed so I cannot chagne it in Central Admin.  How do I let SharePoint know that these databases have been moved too?

Ajax Control Toolkit Error Creating Control

Error Creating Control - ToolkitScriptManager1Unknown server tag 'asp:ToolkitScriptManager'.Error Creating Control - ComboBox1Unknown server tag 'asp:ComboBox'.I encountered this error, very annoying becasue it would shut off design view rendering of ComboBoxes as well as entire parent containers like ListViews.  It took me a lot of efforts to hunt down the cause, which would seem very illogical if not weird.  So I am suspecting that it is just happening to me, but would appreciate if somebody could care to reproduce and see if it is actually a bug.Cause: HtmlHead title tag has textFix: Delete text in HtmlHead title tagSteps to reproduce and verify error:1. Why the installed 'Ajax Control Toolkit' tab disappeared from VS Toolbox? Where is HTMLEditor?

I am new to AJAX and here are my questions for Ajax Control Toolkit.1. I had downloaded the 'Control Toolkit' to my c: drive and added 'Ajax Control Toolkit' tab to VS toolbox.  Somehow the 'Ajax Control Toolkit'    tab disappeared later on, although the AjaxControlToolkit.dll is still shown in the bin folder and the Ajax Control Toolkit is still available in the    aspx file I created before.  Why?  This is probably the 4th time I added the toolbox tab for the Ajax Control Toolkit.2. I checked the Ajax Control Toolkit list in my VS Toolbox, there is no HTMLEditor.  Or any other names for this HTMLEditor?  Or I need to    download the updated Ajax Control Toolkit? --  Jeffrey      *******************************************************************************************************************************Here is my notes to instal Ajax Control Toolkit A.      Download the Control Toolkit: http://www.asp.net/Ajax/AjaxControlToolkit.Click "AjaxControlToolkit-Framework3.5.zip to extract to C:\AjaxControlToolkit.B.      Copy the available toolkit files to Binaries folder: Open :\Program Files\ AjaxControlToolkit\ SampleWebSite\bin and copy all the files and paste to Binaries folder.  C.&nbs

AJAX Control Toolkit in Visual Studio

Hello everybody.I want to include AJAX Control Toolkit in my project currently designing of Visual Studio 2008. I found a link Installing AJAX Control Toolkit in Visual Studio 2008 . It is helpful. I want to know anything else shall I have to do for enabling AJAX Control. Is there anything should I write in web.config file or in that .aspx file? I have to submit my project in college so can enabling AJAX Control in that project by including files, create any problem on execution of the project on AJAX Control not enabled machine of my college? Or the reference files will going to be saved in bin folder?Any information will be very helpful to me.Also there is a paragraph in last section of the instruction, here it is :Now we are able to add any of these controls to our web applications. However, we must still remember the ScriptManager, as all of these controls are AJAX-enabled. I don't understand this line "However, we must still remember the ScriptManager, as all of these controls are AJAX-enabled."Thank you.

AJAX Control Toolkit version mismatch

I just downloaded the April 12 release of ajax control toolkit. when I put the modal pop up extender in the page, I was getting ajax script 4.0 required errors. it turns out that I had different version.

How do I know which version is compatible. I had built the application in VS 2008 3.5 framework. The recommended download version was 3.5 zip file on codeplex.
