LookUp windows returned values

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 19, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

In a webform, I have a formview with respective InsertItemTemplate.  I have 2 Look Up buttons, one for Student which opens Student LookUp, and one for Mentor which opens the Mentor Look Up.

First on the input screen sequence is allowing the user to choose Student first.  User clicks the Student LookUp button, The StudentLookUp Window is shown, user selects a student, the selected student information is returned and displayed on the calling screen.

The user then clicks on the Mentor LookUp button.  The Mentor LookUp window is shown.  As this is happening, the values for the Student information, which I have populated upon selecting a student from the Student LookUp goes blank.  Can anyone tell me why?

wss2.0 update/delete/hide lookup column that does not display any values

Hi All,

I have a document library that contains a Category column that is a lookup field. This is a default column that is a required field when uploading documents to the document library. The Category column is empty and I am unable to amend, hide, make it not required or delete it.

I have gone to Modify settings and columns -> clicked on the Category field to edit, but there is no option to amend the content or delete it. I am only able to amend the Column name and Description.

Since then, I have amended the column name to eg. Category1 and created a new Category field as a lookup and linked it to the correct list.

The problem I am facing now, is that I cannot hide, delete or make the Category1 (old Category) field NOT required. Either I would like to update the original field to display the correct values or alternately hide, delete or make the column not required.

Please help.

How can I replace values in GridView returned from a Stored Procedure

I am working on creating a stored procedure that will output a pivot table.  In the pivot table will be either the string NULL or a number.  How can I reformat this in ASP.NET so the NULL value becomes a blank cell in the gridview and the number (whatever it is) becomes an 'X' ?

SSIS - Lookup Percentages values change

Good day, i need help please.

The problem i have is that a percentage colume in my table, when i sum the total = '100.0000000'

This fine, but when i insert in SSIS - Lookup & i preview the data in Lookup task the Total = '100.072' which makes my calculations incorrect.

is there something i need to do to keep it in its original sum - but i view my decimal places in advanced properties decmal(38,12) so this should be fine.

Is in the query that i have to perhaps force it to be 100.0000, how?

Can somebody please direct me on what i should do

Custom Columns - Fill values based on value selected in a lookup column

I am working with Sharepoint 2007. I have a list of 130 buildings located in six different cities and three different provinces. I imported this list from an Excel spreadsheet. I also have a document library that contains various files associated with these buildings. I've added a custom column to the document library that contains a lookup field to the name of each building. I also have two additional custom columns that have the city and province. What I would like to accomplish is to have the city and province columns automatically be set based on the name of the building selected, such that these values are taken from the same row of this list as the building name.

Hopefully my question makes sense.

Thank you, James

Build ArrayList with the values from each column returned from 1 record

I have a procedure that is used to look up user permissions in our custom table, There is 1 record for each user and about 20 columns for each of the permissions.

How can i take the column values and place into an array?

All the column are bit type and 1 is int. Is it possible to take the values returned and add to an ArrayList?

And then once the values are in the array, how to loop thru it and go to certain index to check the value.

This is what i have now:

   public ArrayList getPermissions(string uid)
        ArrayList list = new ArrayList();
        using (SqlConnection conn = new SqlConnection(this.connDB))
        using (SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand())
                cmd.Connection = conn;
                cmd.CommandText = "Select_User_Perm";
                cmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure;

                cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("@id", uid);
                SqlDataAdapter a = new SqlDataAdapter(cmd);
                DataSet ds = new DataSet();
//Starting here, not sure how to grap each column, I've used this before but the table contained multiple records for user, so the below wor

SSIS excel data source numeric values returned as null

Hello everyone, long time no see!, I have a problem and was hoping someone can help me:
I'm using SSIS 2005 Enterprise edition,  I'm creating a package that reads an excel (xls) file using the "excel source" component, and it dumps the data into an OLEDB destination (a sql server).
When I drag the excel source component and create the excel connection to my file the component automatically reads the columns and their datatypes.

The problem is that I have a column which has numeric data and the package uploads as NULL every number that starts with a zero. (note: in excel this column is formatted as "text", despite it has only numbers, because it's the only way excel maintains the left sided zeros).
So I checked the data types by right clicking the excel source component -> show advanced editor and my surprise is that this column's data type is detected as double-precision float, and it doesn't let me change it.

I tried the answer posted here: http://devselekta.blogspot.com/2007/09/ssis-excel-data-source-values-returned.html but it only works when the first row of data has a number beginning with zero on this column.
Someone knows how to get the data imported correctly? Thanks in advance.

SSIS Lookup - Mismatched sqlcommand & sqlcommandparam Property Values

I had an issue recently and I'd like to solicit feedback as to whether this is an SSIS flaw:

In the lookup component, when you select the Partial or No Cache option, a property in addition to the sqlcommand property becomes available called sqlcommandparam. Originally this package was developed using Lookups pointing to a dimension on "schema_A" and we wanted to change the reference to "schema_B". Now, obviously the sqlcommandparam property became available because you can elect to use the Advanced SQL option in the component. However, I never chose to do that. So, long story short, I go into this package to change the schema reference in the Lookup's query. It changes the sqlcommand property value to be "select value from schema_B.table" but it didn't change the corresponding value in the sqlcommandparam property. That property remained "select value from schema_A.table". SSIS never threw an error to say the schema's didn't match. And the Lookup worked as designed, picking up values from the table on schema_B. Not until we finally decommisioned schema_A did I get an error at runtime that said "Table or view does not exist".

So, can anyone (hopefully Microsoft) confirm that this is in fact a flaw? I am on MSFT VS 2008 V 9.0.30729.1 SP.

Unable to retrieve Lookup fields or item URL values from Library(Wiki Page Library) item when using

I have tried, static/internal/displayname all with the same result(lol moment,

Filter document library based on multiple lookup values

I have a very unique requirement for MOSS 2007.
Lets say there is a list of projects; A, B, C, etc.
Then there are phases of the project: Design, Develop, QA, etc.
When the documents are uploaded to a document library, a project and phase is selected at the time of check-in.
I want to create a project page to show project documents by showing documents for each phase in a different web part: eg. Design web part, Develop web part, etc. all bringing documents from the document library.
So far, all good. This can be created by using web parts, views and filters, etc.
Now, I want to create a custom list with Username, Project, Phase. like this:
User1, Project A, Design
User1, Project A, Develop
User1, Project A, QA
User1, Project B, QA

Now, if User1 goes to this project page for Project A - the user sees documents in all 3 phases.
if user1 goes to Project B - the user sees only QA documents.
I will be ok with just showing and hiding web parts completely.
or showing the web parts, but filtering out the documents. either is fine.

I have tried a combination of filters, CAML, etc. but getting values from a custom list to apply the filter is where I am stumped. I want the custom list as it will be easier for the end user to manage permissions for each user for each project for each phas

Windows Service Applications Tutorials

You can easily create services by creating an application that is installed as a service. For example, suppose you want to monitor performance counter data and react to threshold values. You could write a Windows Service application that listens to the performance counter data, deploy the application, and begin collecting and analyzing data.

Serving Silverlight Apps from Windows Mobile

Even if mobile dev is not my every day work, thanks to the .Net Compact Framework, it's still .Net programming.

Here is the scenario:

You come back home, you have a windows mobile phone wifi capable and you want to quickly get access to your phone pictures from your home network.
You just activate the Wifi, run my app and then browse to the provided link from any computer on the network.

Getting Started with Windows SharePoint Services

Of all of the capabilities of SharePoint, I thought I would start with the most basic installation - as a corporate intranet. It is likely that we will need to discuss some of the elements of SharePoint as we go along, so this also gives us the opportunity to review these elements for future reference.

Before going into too much detail, I would like to point out that you can try the core SharePoint framework (known as Windows SharePoint Services or WSS) for free. On Microsoft's Web site you can download a trial version of Virtual PC 2004 (VPC). Using VPC, you can install the Windows 2003 Evaluation Kit and the WSS add-on. This combination will give you 45 days to evaluate the setup.

Building a Searchable Phone Directory with Windows SharePoint Services

I want to continue to build out the intranet site we've started in our previous articles. A standard item in every intranet is a staff/employee list. Most companies implementing Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) are large enough to have a database that contains all employees. We will use the aggregation features of SharePoint to include data from this database into our intranet.
