I did a SQL 2000 migration from SQL 2000 SP3 to SQL 2000 SP4 on a different hardware.
I have moved the database to a second instance which is listening on port 1435 and I able to telnet 1435 from the
the web and app boxes and also the connection string seems to be fine with the user credentials.
Data source = 'servername\instancename,1435'
But still I am getting the error below when clicking on the url
[DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied. (-2147467259)
can someone please advise what could be the issue as I have checked the FW and it looks fine.
Thanks in advance,
I get the follwowing exception while running my ASP.NET 1.1 web application. The Web application will call a web service which connects to to the DB server and returns the data to the application. This error occurs when we move the webservices and databases to new servers.
I am able to connect to the DB server from web servers through SQL port.
System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: Server was unable to process request. ---> System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: [DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied. at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.ExecuteReader(CommandBehavior cmdBehavior, RunBehavior runBehavior, Boolean returnStream) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.ExecuteReader(CommandBehavior behavior) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.System.Data.IDbCommand.ExecuteReader(CommandBehavior behavior) at System.Data.Common.DbDataAdapter.FillFromCommand(Object data, Int32 startRecord, Int32 maxRecords, String srcTable, IDbCommand command, CommandBehavior behavior) at System.Data.Common.DbDataAdapter.Fill(DataSet dataSet, Int32 startRecord, Int32 maxRecords, String srcTable, IDbCommand command, CommandBehavior behavior) at System.Data.Common.DbDataAdapter.Fill(DataSet dataSet, String srcTable)
Why does this error occur and how to solve this?
Have a SQL connection issue on a Windows Server 2008 R2 client. Cannot connect to sql server using sql login or domain login. Pings sql server and can access file share on sql server just fine. Both sql login methods work fine from other
I've seen a number of generic kb articles that describe various client related issues that don't apply (incorrect computer name, named instance etc). Like I said I can connect to this sql server from other Windows Server 2008 machines just fine.
I was looking for the client Network utility, but apparently that's a legacy application that isn't a part of Server 2008 (if it is I can't find it).
Any ideas how to troubleshoot this?
What if you need to convert an existing Microsoft Access 97 database application into a true client-server application that is based on a SQL Server back end? If you know a little about Visual Basic and SQL Server, it's easy to make your app take advantage of the power and scalability provided by SQL Server 7.0. Using some concrete code examples, this article takes you step by step through converting the native Jet queries in your Access application into stored procedures and pass-through queries that SQL Server can use. You'll also learn how to pass on parameters when your client-server app calls these SQL Server stored procedures and queries.
