Hi Guys

Got a problem creating cube using AMO.

I am using a table which holds the dimensions and measures I want in my cube.

Problem in Cube processing

Hi All, I have created cube and processed with the setting "Stop Logging",and it would take 30 min to complete processing with the error shown  Error in Olap storage engine The attribute key cannot found when processing table "Factcalldata", column programid, value 7070.the attribute is Programid.   Kindly let me know is this is the reason which is responsible for Longer processing Time ,i have created partition and aggregation in all measure groups.   Regards Amit

MDX problem (Amount value is getiing doubled when multiselecting dimension parameters)

Hello...I need some help with the MDX...basically the problem is the Amount value is getting doubled when I am selecting more than one parameter. Here is situation...suppose I select a parameter  lets say A from dimension Account Element Hierarchy then I get the Budget Amount as $100, now in my SSRS report I change the dimension parameter value to B and then I get the Budget Amount $200. Now I multiselect A and B and ideally I should get the Total Budget Amount as $100+$200=$300 but in place of that I get $600 I have captured the mdx below...Please let me know if you have an idea to fix this --The below MDX returns $100 for Budget Value SELECT   NON EMPTY { [Measures].[Budget Amt], [Measures].[Budget / RSF] } ON COLUMNS, NON   EMPTY { (DESCENDANTS([Account Hierarchy].[Account Hierarchy].[Level 02].ALLMEMBERS) ) } DIMENSION   PROPERTIES MEMBER_CAPTION, MEMBER_UNIQUE_NAME, PARENT_UNIQUE_NAME, LEVEL_NUMBER ON   ROWS FROM [Finance]   WHERE (STRTOSET("{[Account Element Hierarchy].[Account Element Hierarchy].&[1214|425|406|495|1209|421]}"),   STRTOMEMBER("[Date].[Year].&[2010]"),   STRTOMEMBER("[Budget Version].[Budget Version].&[Budget]"), [Account Hierarchy].[Account Hierarchy Type].&[2])   CELL PROPERTIES VALUE, BACK_COLOR, FORE_COLOR,   FORMATTED

Problem with Dimension of type Account

Hi, I have a simple fact table where I have a dimension time and a dimension of type acount. The fact table looks like this FinanceKey AccountKey ProfitCenterKey DateKey DateAlternateKey ScenarioKey Amount 1 11 5 7308 2010-01-01 1 131 2 11 3 7308 2010-01-01 1 62115 3 11 0 7308 2010-01-01 1 27626 4 11 6 7308 2010-01-01 1 12 5 11 2 7308 2010-01-01 1 74316 6 11 7 7308 2010-01-01 1 14 7 11 5 7339 2010-02-01 1 147 The account dimension looks like this AccountKey AccountAlternateKey ParentAccountKey AccountName_en AccountName_de AccountType Operator CustomMembers ValueType CustomMemberOptions 1 1 NULL Statistical Accounts Statistische Kennzahlen Statistical ~ NULL Units NULL 11 11 1 Customer Count Anz. Kunden Balances ~ NULL Units NULL If I browse my cube I get no data for the measure amount. When I remove hte parent Account "Statistical Accounts" and ste the parent of "Customer Count" to NULL I will get the correct Customer count. Any idea?

Getting Query Time Out Problem in Particular Dimension?

We are getting query time out problem in particular dimension in SSAS. can any one help on this?

Deployment and processing problem

I have an analysis services project in Visual Studio, and now I added a column to one of the tables composing the dimensions (it's a MOLAP DB) and made it the primary key, and then I updated the tables composing the measure groups by deleting the key field to the dimension table and replacing it with a field that refers to the new column in the dimension table. The problem is that when trying to deploy the changes, I get errors for the measure group tables that say the data source view doesn't contain a definition for the old column that I deleted and thus of course is not supposed to be there. Why can't it identify the change and process it correctly, and what can I do?

Problem with displaying and processing dynamic data

I need to dynamically generate a list of images in table format.  The images can be found in either art or picts, in temp, or in temp and in one of the other two (duplicate image).

The idea is to display any duplicates prior to copying anything over from temp to either art or picts, so I'm thinking of adding radio buttons if the same image is found in two folders.  I also want to add a submit button.  The user selects the image they want and clicks the button.  If they want the new file it's copied over then deleted.  If they want to keep the existing file the new one is just deleted.  If they select nothing, both versions of the file are deleted.  So the table will look something like this:

temp         art            picts         process
z-123                                           delete button
() z-234                       () z-234

dimension's incremental process generates processing on all partitions in cube

Hey eb

Have any one noticed this behavior??

Incremental process (process update) of dimension generates reprocessing of indexes on all cube's partitions, even when no change has occured in that dimension.

I am using SSAS 2005 sp2.

This is disturbing because my cube holds some 700 daily partitions so processing indexes on all of them - on an hourly basis - is very time consuming.

Also it flashes that cube's cache!

I did noticed that changing heirarchies memberskeysunique property to True + changing the toppest attribute in this heirarchy mambernamesunique to true solves this problem.

Is this a must then to prevent recalculating indexes on partitions every process update of dimension??

Dimension properties problem

This is off of the Adventure Works DB.

If you look at the Dimension Properties for Mountain-100 Silver, 38 it shows NULL for the [Category]
[Product].[Product Categories].[Category] = (null)
[Product].[Product Categories].[Subcategory] = Mountain Bikes
[Product].[Product Categories].[Model Name] = Mountain-100

But if you look at the created measure it shows what I would expect in the Dimension property [Measures].[Prt Mod Name]

Why doesn't this show up in the dimension property and how could I go about fixing this so it does?

This link Handling Data Integrity Issues in Analysis Services 2005 is a classic paper on handling data integrity. The snowflaked data structure decribed in it is:

Product Class (dimension)  <--  Product (dimension)  <--  Sales (fact) where some Products do not have a Product Class

My situation is similar, but a bit more complex.   I don't actually have referential integrity problems . . . orphans are valid.

I have two fact tables TableA and TableB. They are related in a [0-or-1] to a [0-or-many] structure.

  • That is, each TableA record may have zero, one, or many TableB records associated with

SQL server performance problem (periodical stopping processing transactions)

Hi there.
We are facing some problem that connected with sql server (as we think)
We have some software (OLTP more like) which receives data (with same structure) over network and then writes it into DB. The problem is that every minute sql server stops processing transactions for 10 seconds (approximately). You can see this situation on picture (green line is intensity of incoming data and red line is output intensity after processing (adding to DB)).
IBM server with 4 x Xeon 2.2 Ghz (cpu utilization is less then 10%)
DB files are located on RAID 6 over 20 spindle (physical disks) max IO speed more then 300 MB/s (IO throughtput usage is about 2 MB/s). DB Log is located on the same drive as other DB's files. LOB is stored in separated files. DB sheme is a typical warehouse: 2 Large tables(Table A - 400 M of rows, contains images and has reference to table B. Table B has 40 M of rows).
Data proceeding: some structed data (int's + chars) + image - max 50 KB
Proceeding algorithms: Step 1. Look up table B. Step 2. Insert in table B if needed. Insert into table A.<

Status Tree View blank during dimension processing

In SQL Server 2008R2 (64bit), the Status Tree view in the Process Progress Dialog box is blank during dimension processing.  Processing the same dimension in SQL Server 2008 (32bit), displays the levels being processed properly.

Is there a setting or some config parameter I have missed?

Thanks in advance.

Problem to group radio button across gridview rows

In general no one can easily group or make a single selection from radio button list inside gridview rows. There are a lot of way to make a single or unique selection from list. Here i want to share how i can address this problem in the most easiest way. Googling the problem most of the cases i saw the grouping in horizontal way. Thats why i tried to group the radio buttons in vertical manner. Let i have a requirement like below:
