SSIS 2005 - Send Mail Task - signature appended to email is garbled - unicode problem?

Hi, I'm pretty new to SSIS so go easy on me. I have a Send Mail Task to notify if a file cannot be imported - the mailbody is created on the previous step by a VB.NET script task to include the name of the file and the path it's been archived to. The problem I'm having is that while the body of the email I've created is displaying fine, our company's Exchange server appends a signature to all emails, and this is coming up as undisplayable characters, presumably due to some kind of unicode encoding problem. I've tried casting the email body in an expression to DT_STR (doesn't work as DT_STR "cannot be converted to a supported type" which seems a bit odd but never mind), DT_WSTR (garbled signature), DT_TEXT/DT_NTEXT (strange error on this one - "Attempted to read or write protected memory") none of those ideas worked, and I'm a bit stumped now. Can anyone help? I'm using SSIS 2005 with SP3

.net 3.5 in conjunction with CRM 4.0 email router adding code to subject line of emails causing spam

We use CRM 4.0, which is using .net framework 3.5 SP 1.  Emails sent out of CRM go through and email router and the subject line of these emails is getting "=?us-ascii?Q? added to the beginning of the subject line and "?= added to the end of the subject line. This is causing a large amount of our emails getting spammed. I was told by the CRM support that this is an issue with .net 3.5 and won't be fixed until .net 4.0, which CRM won't support for another year.  Is there not a .net 3.5 patch that can address this?

SSIS Send Mail Task - Failure Sending Mail

Dear all, I have switched off the firewall settings on my system and as suggested im entering the minimal information and data to send the mail. but still the Mail Task is failing.. plz suggest.

SSIS Send Mail Task - Failure Sending Mail

Hi Everyone, Hopefully someone out there will have an idea as this is driving me nuts. I've setup a task to email on success/failure and keep receiving the following message when executed: Progress: The SendMail task is initiated. - 0 percent complete[Send Mail Task] Error: An error occurred with the following error message: "Failure sending mail.". Progress: The SendMail task is completed. - 100 percent completeTask Send Mail Task failed When I configure Outlook Express on the same machine with the same settings it works. On the SMTP Connection Manager I have left the default name, tested with both an IP address and Server Name, and no authentication or SSL. On the Send Mail Task, it uses the above connection. The To: , From: , Subject  fields are populated. Message SourceType is DirectInput, MessageSource is Test, Priority is Normal and no attachments or expressions etc. Nothing useful is logged in the Event Viewer even with full logging turned on. Any suggestions appreciated, Thanks.

How to generate an excel and send it as email attachment in SSIS 2005 Script Task Component?

I am using a "Script Task" component. I am trying with following three simple steps:

1) Obtain the excel content in HTML

Dim reportInHtml As String = GenerateHTMLReport()

2) Generate an excel with below code:

Dim message As MailMessage

message = New MailMessage(fromAddress, toAddress, subject, String.Empty)

Using memoryStream As MemoryStream = New MemoryStream()

        Dim contentAsBytes As Byte() = Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(reportInHtml)
        memoryStream.Write(contentAsBytes, 0, contentAsBytes.Length)
        memoryStream.Seek(0, SeekOrigin.Begin)

        Dim contentType As ContentType = New ContentType()
        contentType.MediaType = "application/ms-excel"
        contentType.Name = "Excel_Report.xls"

        Dim excelAttachment

Consolidate auto workflow email and send one mail a day

Hi, I am facing an issue from so long and request you to provide any solution on the same.

I have created a document library and list where currently users are getting auto workflow email every time something gets uploaded to doc lib or list. However the requirement is to consolidate those auto emails so they will only get 1 summary email per day [i.e. all the file details in one email after end of the day which means “all files uploaded after 12pm midnight of (12th Oct) to 12pm midnight of (13th Oct)]

This seems to bit complex task and I was unable to find any solutions for the same. Please help me with the resolution/alternative

How to modify Send E-Mail subject ("Welcome to the SharePoint group") in People and Groups?

Hi All,

I am using WSS 3.0 in our application. Whenever user is added to the SharePoint Group using People and Groups page, user will be alerted using Send E-Mail option. We want to modify the subject “Welcome to the SharePoint group: Portal Visitors for site: Home”. I found that I can modify AclInv.aspx to modify the subject.

Could you please tell me is there any other way to change this text since modifying Layout pages are not recommended in our environment?

Thanks in advance.

SPD Email only works when I type actual e-mail, but does not send to users or groups

I've viewed other e-mail related posts on this forum and have not seen this specific question, so I'll ask.

I've got an approval workflow that I created in SPD.  It works, but when I try to attach e-mail to it, the e-mails do not send to the e-mails associated with the user or groups profiles in SSP (User profile properties).

For testing purposes, I tried creating a simple workflow that only sends one email to one person.  This doesn't work.  I try sending it to 2 different specific e-mail addresses instead of trying to do a "This specific user" or "Current item:Created by" or something else chosen by SPD: 1 of which is a personal e-mail, another is an e-mail that is assigned to a user's profile in SSP.  Both were received.

So basically the situation is what title says: SharePoint Designer workflow sends an e-mail when the e-mail targets specific e-mail addresses, but not SharePoint users or groups.  So basically DOMAIN\username does not work, but user@domain.com does work.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm using Moss 2007, SP1.

Send Email from SQL Server Express Using a CLR Stored Procedure

Problem
One of the nice things about SQL Server is the ability to send email using T-SQL. The downside is that this functionality does not exist in SQL Server Express. In this tip I will show you how to build a basic CLR stored procedure to send email messages from SQL Server Express, although this same technique could be used for any version of SQL Server.

Solution
If you have not yet built a CLR stored procedure, please refer to this tip for what needs to be done for the initial setup.

How to send an email with information in query string

First I will say I googled (Binged to make Bill happy) for this but could not find anything, perhaps I am not stating what I need correctly;

I have a website that a customer creates orders (for a printing company) and after the order, I would like to email the customer a link to view the status of their order;

I need to send the CustomerID in the link so on the returning page if a CustomerID is detected in the querystring, I "auto login" the client and open the "Dashboard" for the order page for that customer.

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to how to send the link and how to parse the querystring to get the values from the link;

Thank you if you can point me in the right direction.

Email Help (System.Net.Mail)

Hi I have a annoying problem.
I have created a page which takes users details for a quote.

I have then created the form to be emailed to both the user and myself. (Which works fine ATM)

However I would also like to be able to attach a file containing terms and conditions to the email.

I have tried doing this using

EmailMsg.Attachments.Add(new Attachment("C:\\attachme.txt"));

But everytime that line of code is hit it fails and is caught by my try catch.

Take that line out and the email sends fine, put it in and it breaks the whole page.

Am I missing something really obvious?
