Bug? AssetURLSelector functionality changed in SharePoint 2010...

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 19, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

After upgrading a site from SharePoint 2007 to SharePoint 2010, we have encountered some problems with the AssetURLSelector which is a graphical pop-up control for browsing files and lists etc. within the specific site collection.

In SP2007 when selecting a list with this selector, the following URL was returned: /se/top/events/Lists/Eventslist/AllItems.aspx
This is fully compatible with the SharePoint function SPWeb.GetListFromUrl.

In SP2010 when selecting the same list, the AssetURLSelector instead for some strange reason returns the URL on the following format: http://localhost:82/se/top/events/Lists/Eventslist

Difference 1: The complete URL including domain is returned. This generates errors in our SharePoint solution since the domain differs between for instance authoring and live environments. The relative path is instead needed here as it used to be in 2007...

Difference 2: The AllItems.aspx is excluded if you make the selection from the tree-view to the left which causes an exception when using the GetListFromUrl

error in sharepoint 2010 designer while saving:"Content in the embedded form may be changed by the t

I am doing development  in sharepoint 2010 and facing this very weird problem.
If I create a site page with the sharepoint look and feel for that site and try to save the site page,i am getting this error:**"Content in the embedded form may be changed by the the server to remove unsafe content.Do you want to reload your page to see the results of the save? "** and when i say reload, the server removes some parts of my page, e.g onclick event of html, asp buttons.

This error just comes for any sharepoint site page,e.g i took a copy of 'How To Read Library' page just edited the text part of taht page, and when i try to save this error again comes up.

However,if i create a simple aspx page with only htmltags like head body, then thr is no problem ,everything works great. But sharepoint look and feel pages are giving troubles while saving.

has anybody seen this earlier, what could be the reason for this?

Sharepoint 2010 custom .aspx page for custom functionality

I want to include a custom .aspx page with code behind in sharepoint 2010. This aspx page is supposed to take data
from custom list and generate an xml. So the output is xml. Our site is an internet facing site and it is anonymous
access. Some swf files are using this aspx page to get dynamic data from list in xml format. When flash is trying
to get xml from this page sharepoint first redirects to login page. I need help from you guys, since I am new in sharepoint I got really struck here.

Thanks in advance,
Jiju Alex.

SharePoint 2010 Foundation - How To create PressRelease functionality

I need to create means to create pressreleases. In SharePoint 2010 Standard/Enterprise that isn't such a big deal. I create a pagelayout et voila. Seems that Foundation does not provide this functionality.

My Questions:

  1. Is this correct?
  2. If not how can I create this functionality?

I already found this link but...

Sharepoint 2010 and SQL Express. Limits in functionality yes or no ?

Does somebody know of any limits in sharepoint 2010 related to the use of sql express ?
Suppose an install of Sharepoint on Windows server 2008 R2.

I dont want the list of sql express limits (10 GB DB size, 1GB RAM use, 1 CPU limit and everything else found on the SQL web site).

I want a list of things that will not work in Sharepoint if I use SQL Express. If there is nothing on that list then fine but I would be surprise.

Web Bot Functionality not included in Sharepoint 2010... Why?

1. First question is why have they took this functionality out of sharepoint 2010 when you can still technically use it in sharepoint deisnger 2010?

2. In my sharepoint 2007 site I had 2 pages set up for basic anonymous submission of suggestions, no way to track who sent it which is why I chose to use it. By using basic HTML form with a name and suggestion field and a HTML submit button that had a mailto:assignment to go to a suggestions email box. I can no longer use this because Web Bot has been removed from Sharepoint 2010...

Is there another way I can do something simple like I had before or are things going to have to get complicated to do something so seemingly simple... Any information would be appreciated.

In case there is an exception anywhere in the SharePoint 2010 project (most common place an exception would happen is during deployment of your SharePoint project, custom deployment configuration or custom deployment steps), there's a registry key EnableDiagnostics available for you to use.

Accessing SharePoint 2010 Data with Server-Side APIs

Accessing SharePoint data in server-side solutions is one of the most common tasks that you will perform as a SharePoint developer. SharePoint 2010 provides powerful server-side APIs that enable you to retrieve, add, edit, and delete SharePoint data programmatically. SharePoint 2010 also includes the new LINQ to SharePoint technology that enables you to work with SharePoint data efficiently and easily.

Configuring Profile Image Export in SharePoint 2010

It's no secret that I am thrilled with the new social features of SharePoint 2010. I am most excited about the new Profile Picture handling. I strongly believe that the more we can show the faces of our colleagues to one another the more connected we will feel. Clearly Microsoft feels that way as witnessed by the many features that make use of the Profile Image like the Activity Feed and Colleagues list

ClientAccessPolicy file in SharePoint 2010

I am upgrading my Silverlight demo code from the old beta to beta 2 and see that there are a few new considerations for the deployment of ClientAccessPolicy.xml files. In a previous post I demonstrated how to do this for SharePoint 2007. The heartburn that I get with that approach is any site collection owner or designer can drag the file into the site collection and open the site up to unwanted client access issues. In 2010 the virtual path provider no longer serves the files from the root of the site collection
