I am having trouble opening a document library in Windows Explorer view. The portal is MOSS 2007. I have installed Office 2007 and IE7 on my computer. The error that I get is
"Documents in this folder are not available. The folder may have been moved or deleted, or network problems may be preventing a connection to the server."

SharePoint 2007 - Windows 7 - Explorer View (Leaves a copy in recycle bin)

Hi All, I am facing a strange problem with SharePoint 2007 & Windows 7. I open an existing word document from my PC(Windows 7) and click "save as" and provide a SharePoint document library file path (\\machinename\sitename\DocumentLibraryName) and save the file. The word file becomes visible in the Shared document library, BUT it leaves a copy in the recycle bin of the SharePoint site. Works Normal from Windows XP PC. Any clues. Would greatly appreciate anybody's effort. Regards KCM

Trying to open a sharepoint library in Windows Explorer via IE 8 results in the error "your client d

I am attempting to connect to a Microsoft Sharepoint library, via the "Actions -> Open in Windows Explorer" option from the Sharepoint page.  When I do so, I get the error message "your client does not support opening this list with windows explorer".  In short, I am trying to get the "drag and drop" functionality of a Sharepoint library.

I am running Windows 7 64-bit and IE8.  The target Sharepoint environment is a MOSS 2007 EE.  My Windows "WebClient" service is running, and I have no problem connecting to this exact library via a Windows XP computer running IE8.

Check out issue - authentication modal dialog on every checkout, Explorer View or Open With Windows

I got users that have an issue when trying to check out document, using the Explorer View or using Open With Windows Explorer.

Users are on Vista, IE 7 and Win 7, IE8

I have seen this Warning in the Application Event log:

"WMI ADAP was unable to retrieve data from the PerfLib subkey: SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SSO\Performance\Library, error code: 0x80041009"

Any help would be very much appreciated!

Sharepoint library Explorer view - Office 2010 conflict?

Recently upgraded from Office 2007 to 2010.  Some days after install started to receive a message 'you need to activate this product' every time I opened an Office application.  My IT guys did the ncessary to activate Office 2010, but since then my site selection (tab) button on any Sharepoint page will not open the drop-down menu and I cannot change the view of any document library to 'Explorer View'.

I've been looking in forums and other sources and can see this is a known issue with IE8, but when it happened to me, I was using IE7.  The only trigger I can see is the activation of Office 2010

Anyone had similar experience and anyone aware of a fix?

Windows Explorer View opening incorrectly

One of my users is experiencing an issues with opening the windows explorer view in Sharepoint. At first she was having an issue with opening pdfs. One of our help desk associates noticed she had both Adobe Reader and Acrobat installed so he uninstalled Reader and that seemed to fix the issue with opening pdfs. The user then called back to report that Windows Explorer is opening as a "website" when launched from sharepoint.

I had the help desk install the Software for Web Folders update at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=17c36612-632e-4c04-9382-987622ed1d64&displaylang=en  then I had them install the 2007 Office hotfix available at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943337/en-us as suggested in another post. These installs did not fix the issue and she is also unable to drag and drop files from explorer view and create shortcuts.

We are using..WSS 3.0, Windows XP Pro, Office 2003, IE 6

This seems to only be happening for this

Windows authentication issue - unable to run report from sharepoint library

I have an extended Sharepoint web application which allows windows authentication access and in the Reporting Services Integration section in Central admin i have selected windows authentication.  I have written a SQL report which uses an XML datasource and uses windows authentication to connect to the sharepoint lists.

  • The datasource connection string is: http://<my windows authentication site>/_vti_bin/lists.asmx
  • The reportserver url i've given in my report solution is http://<my windows authentication site>/

I can preview the report from within Business Intelligence Studio and it returns the data correctly.  I created a document  library and set it up for reports, deployed my solution and tried to run the report but i get the error :

An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)
Cannot impersonate user for data source 'MyDataSourceName'(rsErrorImpersonatingUser) .  This data source is configured to use Windows integrated security. Windows integrated security is either disabled for this report server or your report server is using Trusted Account mode. (rsWindowsIntegratedSecurityDisabled)

Check-out issue when opening a document from a document library when a read-only copy is open

We have an issue when a user has a read-only copy of a document from SharePoint open and then tries to check-out and edit another copy of the document (i.e. from the document library) the checked out copy is not connected to the web server. For the user it will look the same they will make edits, save and then close, but when they do so the document is not updated in SharePoint - it may be saved locally in their SP drafts, but the user will think that they have lost their version. We then get the checked out to another user error and you have to discard changes to get the document working again. Steps to reproduce this issue: * click on the name of a office doc on a Document Library * Make sure "Read Only" is selected and click "ok" * Minimize open document * click on the same file on the Document Library * Make sure "check out and edit" is selected and the "Use my local drafts folder" checkbox is ticked. Select OK. * Edit document and press save. Changes are never saved back in SharePoint, they are only on the local draft. We are using MOSS with SP2. Clients are on Office 2003 and 2007 Is this normal behaviour? Is there anything that can be done to prevent this from happening?

Sharepoint and IIS/Windows Event Logs in a single view

Hi - I'm coinsidering addng sharepoint log reading capabilities into an application I've built for reading windows and IIS logs (for more info http://logenvy.com). I know there are quite a few applications capable of reading sharepoint logs (a number are listed here http://stackoverflow.com/questions/781179/sharepoint-2007-log-viewer). Does anyone think the capability to analyse windows and IIS logs alongside sharepoint logs would be useful, or have any logging requirements not well met by the current set of tools? I'm especially keen to explore useful/interesting data visualizations on top of data logs.

overwrite the files in document library from Explorer View ?

Hi Everyone, Suppose I have a document library which can be opened using the explorer view, what happened if someone uploads to this library by drag n drop into the library with same filename? What would be the final story of the file which is overwritten through drag n drop from Explorer view ? Thanks./* Infrastructure Support Engineer */

Accessing SharePoint Workspace through Windows Explorer and Office applications

In windows explorer, there is a folder named workspaces. But it is blank and doesnt show any workspaces. I am using office 2010 pro in Win 7 64 bit. Can't view the SharePoint Site. Explorer won't take domain account

Hi, I'm having issues viewing the SharePoint 2010 Site that I have deployed from any workstation. It seems that my permissions settings have broken - even though I haven't touched them. Whenever http://start/ is visited (the Intranet top site) it asks for credentials. They should have been taken from the User that was logged onto the machine. E.g. NATWIDE\UserA. After entering the credentials, it doesn't accept them, and asks for them again. And again. And then blank page. I'm not receiving the SharePoint "restricted access" page... HOWEVER, when I log into the website via Mozilla Firefox - it appears that the credentials are fine, and it works according to the permissions set for the site from within SharePoint. Does anyone have any idea why this would be happening. I'm completely stumped and I can't find a similar issue anywhere else. I have installed a Stand-alone installation of SharePoint 2010 Server Enterprise on Server 2008. The account that installed the SharePoint server and is a FARM Administrator, can't even log in to view the page. Cheers, Stu. Windows explorer view doesn't work on Windows 7

We are running Office SharePoint 2007 with SP2 on windows 2003 server. All windows 7 with IE 8 gets this message: " Please wait while Explorer View is loaded. If Explorer View does not appear, your browser may not support it". when click Windows Explorer in View. All Vista and XP work fine. I have tried these: 1. Added the SharePoint site on a Trusted Site. 2. Web Client is set to Automatically start, and that it is started. 3. We have Office 2003 installed on all computers. 4. We also tried to enable Comtability View.
