Search This Site: Returns no results.

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 19, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

I am in the process of implementing MOSS 2007 and we have 2 site collections.   When we get to either site there are 2 search option This Site:  and All Sites.   All sites returns all the results but when search This Site I get no results.     We removed the People Scope because we aren't implementing mysites with the first release.

Does anyone have any suggestions.   I had Microsoft on the phone yesterday but they didn't seem to be able to help.

How to add List item in search results for anonymous in a publishing site?

Hi all,   For now, results in Library (document set or not) are shown and the link is the binary file. This is ok. But for list, anonymous users can't view results. As logged in I see the items in the AllItems.aspx page. How could I allow this result to be viewed by anonymous users too?      Thank you,   Benoit Pironet

How to add advanced search and results to the site?

I have a site with advanced search Box webpart. I would like to results to open to the same site with the search webpart. Not in the search center. I tried to add Search Core Results, but said results are available. Either no query is specified, or the query came from advanced search (Federated Webparts do not support Advanced Search queries).   How to do? Kenny_I

SharePoint Search Server 2010 Express returns no search results for non-admin users

This is going to sound crazy, but anyway... bare with me... I have a SharePoint Search Server 2010 Express (RTM) installed with a crawl account (call it sharepoint_crawl) which has full read permission to an entire site collection of 100,000 documents. I have logged in with this account to make sure it has read access to everything, and it does. I run a full crawl of all documents and allow it to finish. If I try and search the content for an extremely common term (i.e. 50,000+ hits) I get no results. However, if I log in with a site collection admin I do get search results. There are no indexing errors or query errors in either log files or event log. Everything looks like it is working correctly - just no results for non-admins Anyone tripped on this? I have recreated the crawl account and perform a full re-index with the same results. What gets me is that the crawl account does have read permission to the content it is indexing, the content is indexed correctly, but the crawl account cannot get results back. It is as if security-trimming is removing everything. Any ideas?

My Site and Search Results Link back to Homesite

Hi, Just abouit finished my Sharepioint2010 portal and now cleaning up a few odds 'n' ends. If I click on My Site or People Search the resulting pages don;t allow you to 'Browse' back to the top level page of the Sharepoint site (ie. the Intranet Homepage). Although all my sub-sites have a 'Home' button aswell as the default S/Point home button on the top menu bar, MySite doesn't and I can't seem to add it. Any ideas ? Seems crazy that people can go into the MySite, navigate around but then have to type the server web address back into the Address bar to return from whence theyu came ! Cheers Ian

Error accessing Search Settings and search returns 0 results

Quick summary - my MOSS 2007 server died. I brought up a new server, installed MOSS, service pack 1, service pack 2, created the new config database, then attached my existing content database (I have a separate physical server for the databases). After a few tweaks to get most of the other settings back in order, (most) everything seems to be working somewhat as it should except for Search. Whenever I try to access Search settings I get an error: "An error occurred during the processing of . The resource object with key 'S2SearchAdminDashboard_Title' was not found". I created a new SSP with it's own unique account for the service and app pool (read online that it should be different than SharePoint account because of the timer service conflicting with search), I tried copying the files (listed here: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepointsearch/thread/1a93ef86-be5a-44ad-a814-14613fd0a78f) from my test environment with no luck, I've made sure the permissions to the Task Scheduler were correct (found a Google blip about that somewhere), I've deleted and re-installed the SSP multiple times, ran the Configuration Wizard more times than I can count, but no matter what I do it never changes and always gives the same error. Also, whenever I try to access Central Admin it tries redirecting me to http://servername:portnumber/_admin/SearchServerW

MOSS 2007: Search in one site collection shows No Results

We have two site collections in Production (using MOSS 2007):

SharePoint Search Center is only site that gets results.

I have setup search services and Finally got it to work! HOWEVER it only works from the search center page. If I try to do a search from the with in a site page (ie the search bar in the top right corner) I get no results. If I go to the search center page I get all the search results.

There appers to be a disconect between the two I need to resolve.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Search returns no results for non admin users

Hi all, I can't seem to get search to return results for non-admin users. I can search fine as the administrator - but non admin users, although they can see the rest of the site content with no issues, they can't get any results on the search. I'm using MOSS 2007 on a server farm - the search config appears to be set up correctly but I can't find any info on why it might not be returning results for non admins - I would have thought security trimming would have stopped users from seeing content - so is there some way that users would be able to see the site but still not have 'real' access to it?

MOSS People search returns no results

I've done a fresh install of MOSS 2007. We have a farm with 1 web server, 1 query server, 1 index server.

I'm having issues with our people search. Our My Sites are on a seperate web application http://mysite

I have imported the user profiles from AD with no errors. My sites can be created with no problems. The only issue is when using people search it returns no results.

I've checked the crawl logs and im getting 2 errors

Error in the Site Data Web Service.

Error in PortalCrawl Web Service.

I cant see anything in the event viewer relating to this. The normal content search is working fine. Can anyone help me?

Thank in advance

How to display a count of search results with keywords in a label?

Sorry for a basic post here; I am very new to VB!

I am currently building a search page, which includes a textbox and two drop-down lists, a search button, and a datagrid. If results are found and displayed, I would like a label to display:

(e.g.) "24 results found for 'blue sky clouds' "

...where the integer represents the results count, and the keywords and/or drop-down list selections are included in the string.

If no results are found I would like the label to display:

(e.g.) "No results were found that match your selection. Please try again"

I would also like the label to be invisible until a search occurs.

Thanks in advance!

How can I prioritise search results to show where document metadata has a hit first and then where t

When my users run a search against a site with a bunch of document libraries they will often search for terms that are in the title of the doc, if they do know the title they will put that in. What I would like to do is have the results ordered such that if any hits are on the document metadata (eg Title) then they are presented first and any results that are from hits on the content of the documents are presented later.

So, if they get the title spot on in their search query that document will appear first .... if they don't get it right then the likelyhood is that the title is something like what they entered so similar titled docs are presented first and then those with matching content ....

How can I achieve this?

No Results matching your search were found. WSS 3.0

I've got one sharepoint 3.0 site, which is a hostNamedSiteCollection which won't return any results when we search it - searching the entire site or a single list both produce the same "no results matching your search were found".
The site uses Windows Authentication.  We have no Alternate Access Mappings set up. It is regular HTTP
I've added test content to other sites housed in the same Web Application and searched - that new data is appearing in the results.
I did a backup using STSADM and restored the site to my dev server (as both a hostNamedSiteCollection & a regular site collection) - searches return results just fine.
I deleted the site from the prod server and restored it (into a different content database even!) from a backup  I made with STSADM - no results are returned.
I restored the site to the same web application as a Standard site (http://webapp/sites/sitename) (NOT a host named site collection) and results ARE returned.

I've looked at the trace logs & application logs on the server, but can't find any errors that I can tell might be related..

This is the only site I've ever seen have this problem.  We have plenty of other hostNamedSiteCollections and search is working fine on them.

Exclude the author name from the search results

How can i prevent author's name to appear in search results. shows many results when i search the "author.name".

I want, MOSS 2007 Search get results from the content only the user sees.
