Upgraded website to AJAX 3.5, I get js errors on production web server

I recently upgraded our website to include some AJAX 3.5 modal popup extenders.   The site is working fine on my development machine, unfortunately when I published it over to our production web server (running IIS6) I'm getting javascript errors every time a page containing one of these controls loads.  Here's what shows up in the Firefox Error Console:

Ajax call not working on production box - Using ASP.NET MVC 2

The following .post command in a .js file works fine in Dev and Test but not on our production box (Windows Server 2003).  I believe the URL is not being found on the production box since the function(result) is not being run.  Or it could be that the index method is not returning the jsonresult.

    $.post(BASE_APP_URL + "Beast/Index", $("#beastForm").serialize(), function(result) {
    }, "json");

    <script type="text/javascript">
        var BASE_APP_URL = '<%=Url.Content("~/")%>';
Index Method:
        public ActionResult Index(BeastPrompt b,string hiddenSubmit, string btnRun)
            beast.errorMessage = string.Empty;

dsofile.dll not working in VS2008 Website on Windows 7 64-bit machine

Hello Everyone,

I need to extract meta-data of different files, as uploaded by the user.

For this I found out dsofile.dll from MS. Now the problem is that the version I've downloaded from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyId=9BA6FAC6-520B-4A0A-878A-53EC8300C4C2&displaylang=en is working fine with Windows XP but giving run-time error in Windows 7 64-bit system. Finding more on the error I was getting I came to know that the dll would not work for 64 bit OS. I also downloaded 64-bit from http://www.keysolutions.com/blogs/kenyee.nsf/d6plinks/KKYE-79KRU6 but still am getting below run-time error:

Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {58968145-CF05-4341-995F-2EE093F6ABA3} failed due to the following error: 80040154.

I've two questions:

  1. How can I solve this run-time error and from where will I get dll working in VS2008 Website on Windows 7 64-bit?
  2. Is there any other way I can extract meta-data (all the attributes/properties other than exposed by System.IO.FileAttributes) of any file (could be doc, docx, xls, xlsx, jpg, pdf, t

Sandboxed webparts not working on production

Hi I have few sandboxed webparts, which are working on development and staging and giving trouble on production.

My code is not dependent on any devlopment context, it is general.

And the webparts are failing on particulatr actions, the page load works very fine.

LEt me give an example , there is a grid binding on page load, which works very fine.

Now, i have paging enabled on it.Now when i select pages, it throws error.

So, i simply commented all the code which executes on pageindexing,it still throws same error.

"Web Part Error: Sandboxed code execution request failed"

Login no longer working on ASP.NET website

Hi there,

I recently discovered that I can no longer login to the admin area of the website I created. I'm definitely using the correct login details and haven't changed anything on the website or server that I can think of recently for it to stop working.

What is happening is that when I try to login it successfully redirects to the correct page in the admin area, but then kicks me out straight away as if I don't have permission to view the page?

Hopefully someone can help! Bit of a strange one.

Hi all,

When i am intitating an alert, a mail is sent to the user that alert has been created to this list/library. But when i change anything in the item then no mail is sent to user who is configured to that alert.

Note: I have configured alert for all the changes and immediate alerts.

I have checked the timer job in central admin, they also are present in the timer job definitions.

Working with SharePoint document libraries

Document libraries are collections of files that you can share with team members on a Web based on Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services. For example, you can create a library of common documents for a project, and team members can use their Web browsers to find the files, read them, and make comments. Users with Microsoft Office 2003 can check out and edit the files as if they resided on a local or network drive.

By default, your team Web site comes with a built-in document library named Shared Documents, which is listed on the Quick Launch bar as well as on the Documents and Lists page.
