How to Make CSS for Hyperlinks NOT Affect Menu Items

VWD 2008 Express.

I have the following CSS in my DefaultStyleSheet.css file.  I want this to only apply to text hyperlinks (like links to web sites or email addresses) but NOT to my asp:menu items.  I am finding that although I have defined my asp:menu items in the menu properties, the colors in the text in the menu tabs get overridden by the CSS below.  How can I make this not happen?  Thanks for any help.

a:link

{color:#6F928B; text-decoration: none}

a:visited

{color: #660066;}

How to make context menu as non selectable when the usercontrol is active

I am having a context menu displayed when i right click on a node of a treeview. Suppose my treeview is as follows Root |->some.txt |-> Child(For some.txt) |-> Child1(child for Child) If i right click on Child1 i will have an option as AddNew. If the user selects i will show a user control form for the user displayed in a panel. What i need is if the user selects the option as Child1 and if the user control is active and when the user again right clicks

Make Menu The Focus When Hovered

I have a menu as per the code below. When a menu item is hovered, the background text on the contentplace holder (body of web page) kind of mixes with the text from the menu items and it messes up the menu text items. It appears that the menu isn't on Focus (I may have the word Focus Incorrect here) and thats why the body text in the contentplaceholder is mixing with the text from the menu items.   <asp:Menu ID="Menu1" runat="server" Orientation="Horizontal" ForeColor="Black"                 Font-Size="13pt" Height="32px">      <StaticHoverStyle ForeColor="Blue" BackColor="#E4E4E4" BorderStyle="Outset" />      <DynamicHoverStyle ForeColor="Blue" BackColor="#E4E4E4" BorderStyle="Outset" />      <DynamicMenuStyle BackColor="#E4E4E4" BorderStyle="Solid"/>      <Items>          <asp:MenuItem Text="Home" Value="Home" NavigateUrl="~/Default.aspx"></asp:MenuItem>          <asp:MenuItem Text="Solutions" Value="

How to make sure that user doesn't open same webpage in two different browsers or browser tabs?

Hi,

We are using asp.net StateServer for asp.net session management. In our project we need to make sure that if a user is already logged in and if he is trying to acess the website from a different browser tab, we need to inform him that he is already logged in in another tab and use it instead of opening a new session. Consider the following scenarios:

1. User is logged on in tab1 and his session is still on, then user tries to logon from another tab, the browser sends the asp.net session_id cookie, In the page init i am checking if the Asp.net session Id cookie is present, if it is there i am checking if the it is a new Session (i.e. if the existing session timed out), if it is a new session then proceed with the user action else it means that the session in tab1 is still active so i am redirecting user to error page with appropriate message.

Now the problem with this approach is that, suppose session in tab1 is expired and user opens tab2 and performs some actions, now he goes back to tab1 and perform any action, i directly need to take him to log out page.

Please let me know how this can be achieved.

Tabs on CSS Friendly ASP:Menu not reacting properly to mouse over

I have created a horizontal main menu that exploits Douglas Bowman's 'Sliding Doors' technique to create variable width tabs, as modified by Christophe Geers for application to the ASP:Menu control (using the CSS Friendly Control Adapters). The menu is also horizontally centred using techniques described by Matthew James Taylor. My markup and CSS is shown below.

Among other differences, the selected tab is taller than the others, and the text colour changes to black instead of blue. If you move the mouse over the middle of an unselected tab, then this tab also rises up and the text colour changes to black. It is also clickable. That is the desired behaviour.

My problem is that unselected tabs are not fully sensitive to a mouseover across their full width.

This problem happens when the mouse is moved over the left edge of an unselected tab (within 4 px of the edge, this being the width of the left hand tab graphic). The tab moves up as expected but the text on the tab remains blue and the tab is not clickable. This behaviour occurs with all tabs when in the unselected state and is the same in both IE8 and Safari 4.0.2.

Are there any CSS gurus out there who can suggest a fix?

How to make menus play Menu Popup sound

Programming in C# for .NET Framework 3.5:

I've noticed my Windows Forms menus (ToolStripMenuItems on a MenuStrip) do not make proper menu popup sounds when they open (a problem curiously shared by many flagship Microsoft applications, lately). How is this remedied? Is there just some flag I need to set somewhere? Or am I going to have to make a subclass of <some-ToolStrip*-class > and override <whatever-method-that-executes-when-menus-pop-up > so it properly makes sound? A bit of a daunting task for someone new to the language/library, however necessary.

If in fact the latter is necessary, any suggestions regarding the best class+method to override for the purpose?  Keeping in mind that I'd also like menu popup sounds for context menus, too.

Round off time to the nearest minute

How would you round this up to the nearest minute? There isn't a built in function to do this so you have to use a little bit of maths to get there. There are 60 seconds in a minute. We already have 38 seconds on the clock. So we need to add on 60 - 38 = 22 more seconds.

ASP.NET Menu with jQuery Superfish

Choosing the right type of menu for a website is not easy at all. The ASP.NET Menu Control is definitely NOT a good starting point due to the horrendous markup it renders, nor is it good for SEO because of the Markup/Content ratio, neither can it be easily styled.

Problem making Role based Menu in MVC application

Hi,

I want to make Rolebase menu in MVC such that if user doesnot have permission for some action then that Action name shouldnot be shown in the Menu.

I have used the code in the url(http://forums.asp.net/t/1566328.aspx) in my MVC application. My application is a Discussion Forum(in MVC) same functionality as in this forum forums.asp.net

I have used Controllers for post, thread etc.In each controller there are some actions that are using [Authorize(Roles)] attribute

but this coding does not count  those Actions in Controllers having Authorize attribute according to the url http://forums.asp.net/t/1566328.aspx

In the code, Authorize attribute is applied to Controller class, but my requirement is of Applying Authorize attribute to some actions in controller so that some are available for all users and  some links are available rolewise. Now what is the solution for that?

Hi,

Can  anyone help me with this?. I want to print all the tabs in ajax tab container. The tab container has around 10 tabs. I dont want to goto each tab and print the page. Instead is there any way by which I can tweek the print.css file to print all the tabs at a single stretch?.  So that I will get all the contents of the tab in single print.  Is there any other way in which I can print all the tabs all together?.

Thanks in Advance...
