Best way to delete a record in SQL aspnet membership system

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 18, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

I'm trying to include a method in my application (for a delete button) that completely deletes a user from all relevant tables in the entire aspnet membership system in SQL. Is there syntax I can use to combine the following Delete statements -- or do I have to include each of these individually on my code behind page, as per below?  Thank you.

DELETE FROM aspnet_Profile WHERE UserID = @UserID
DELETE FROM aspnet_UsersInRoles WHERE UserID = @UserID
DELETE FROM aspnet_PersonalizationPerUser WHERE UserID = @UserID
DELETE FROM aspnet_Membership WHERE UserID = @UserID
DELETE FROM aspnet_Users WHERE UserID = @UserID

Delete users from ASPNET DB if it exist

Good day! We have Sharepoint 2010, SQL 2008, FBA. All works well! I try to create windows form with many functions one of which is to create and delete users from aspnet database. I make a code for users creating. Now I try to write a code for users deleting. Here it is: private void Delete_Click(System.Object sender, System.EventArgs e) { string userName = string.Empty; string Status = string.Empty; int cnt = 0; if (MessageBox.Show("You are about to delete " + UsrName.Text + ". Are you sure you want to continue?", "Delete Users", MessageBoxButtons.YesNo) == System.Windows.Forms.DialogResult.No) return; try { //delete the user userName = UsrName.Text; Membership.DeleteUser(userName, true); } catch (Exception ex) { cnt += 1; Status += ex.Message; } if (cnt == 0) { MessageBox.Show("User was deleted successfully. ", "Users Deleted", MessageBoxButtons.OK, MessageBoxIcon.Information); } else { MessageBox.Show("There were errors deleting user: " + Status, "Error", MessageBoxButtons.OK, MessageBoxIcon.Information); } } If I delete existing users all works fine. If I try to delete unexisting users I have the message which is in last statement. How can

ExecuteNonQuery using stored procedure will not delete record (SQLDataAdapter)

Hi all I'm using VB.net 2.0 with a SQL server (2005) backend db. I've got a very odd problem. I'm trying to use a stored procedure with a parameter to delete a record from a table. I've tested the stored procedure by running it directly from visual studio and it works fine, but when running it through my application nothing happens. There's no error and it appears to have worked but the record is not deleted. I've checked permissions on the backend db and giving the network ASPNet account the db owner role has no effect either. Here's the code, there are 3 layers - the webform code, then the business logic class, then the dataconnection class. 'firstly the original code that is run from the webform when the user selects to delete the record Partial Public Class NewPerson     Inherits System.Web.UI.Page    Private newConn As New DBConnection    Private currentNewRequest As New NewRequest(newConn)     Protected Sub btnDelete_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnDelete.Click     Dim requestID As Integer = CInt(Me.lblRecordID.Text)    Me.currentNewRequest.newRequestID = requestID    Me.newConn.openConnection()    Me.currentNewRequest.DeleteRecord()    Me.newConn

Delete one table record if the no more record are associated from another table

Hello All,   In my scenario I have two tables say Table A and Table B. Table A has 3 records   Id Name Value 1 ABC 123 2 XYZ 456 3 PQR 789   Now in another table I have 4 records   Id FName Lname TableAID 101 ABC XYZ 1 102 AAA BBB 1 103 XXX YYY 1 104 PPP QQQ 2   Now I display table B records in gridview when I select 3 records say id 101,102,103 and click on delete button. Table B selected records should be deleted and its working fine.   The problem is that in Table A record 1 ABC 123 is only associated with that many records so when I delete that record from Table B at that time the associated record in Table A should also be deleted as no more association with that record in Table B.   So please give me query or appropriate solution for that.

Migrating ASPNET Role/Membership Database to New Server

I have an existing ASPNET role/membership database created on SQLExpress 2005 (WIndows 2003 Server). I created it under the .NET 3 framework many years ago using the aspnet_regsql.exe application in full GUI mode.

I am setting up a new Windows 2008R2 server with .Net Framework 4 and SQL Server 2008R2. I don't want users to have to recreate accounts or create roles, etc.

1. Should I backup the current database and import it into the new system, and if so do I even need to use the aspnet_regsql.exe application. (If so which version do I use, different aspnet_regsql.exe files exist in different directories (i.e., FrameWork, FrameWork64)

2. Should I just run aspnet_regsql.exe on its own and then somehow try to import the current data into those tables.

I am concerned that if I just import somehow the roles within SQL server will not be created properly.

thanks in advance,

AspNet Membership Login Stoped Working !!!

Hello all

I have a web app that uses the Membership Provider to authenticate users.

Everything worked fine until today... when I tryed to log in it failed.

I looked in the database if something went wrong there and the user is deleted but everything looks fine there.

I tryed to recover the password using the user name and i got an error that the user is not recognized.

I tyed to recover the password (even though I am sure what the password is) but still no luck... (I get an error that hased passwords can not be decrypted)

I triyed it in local host and guess what ... still the same...

this is the provider section in my web config

Linking asp membership to an external system

I've had a look through the forums but I couln't find a concrete answer - I found some things that point me in the right direction but I would like to just ask for some clarification.

My requirements are as follows:

I have an external system, with an API that allows me to log in a user, and returns whether or not it was successful. This can only be done through the API, it can not be done with a direct DB connection.

I want to create a site that can only be accessed by someone who has a login to this external system.

Through the site they will only be able to log-in, there will be no possibility to change password etc, this is all done in the external system by an admin.

I like the ASP membership system, and the way it works with anonymous and member views and would like to continue to use it. My question is, how do I do this? Do I create a custom membership provider that overrides all the methods of the usual membership provider? And how will the fact that all I actually want to do is allow the user to login affect things? There will be no ability to change details etc.

Thanking you in advance, and sorry if my question is a bit general or has already been covered in detail before.

Pointing my programs to the aspnet membership files in my SQL database

I used aspnet_regsql to add the aspnet membership files to my database, but my program is not finding them there. It is updating some other set somewhere elelse. When I click the hammer icon, I can see the members and roles, my program finds them as well, but they are not in my database. I need to get it attached to my SQL database so I can deploy to hosted site.

Adding Dynamic Rows in ASP.NET GridView Control with TextBoxes and with Delete functionality

In my previous examples, I have demonstrated on how to add dynamic rows in GridView control with TextBoxes and how to save the values into the database. Now, seems that most of the developers are asking if how to add a delete functionality with it. So in this example, I'm going to show on how to delete a certain row in the dynamic GridView with TextBoxes.

GridView inline Master/Detail record display

This code drop is part of a smash and grab series. If you're in a rush, you can just grab this code and insert it into your application, no understanding is required. When you have some time (ya, right) you may want to review the source code.

System Development Life Cycle

The Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) is a conceptual model used in project management that describes the stages involved in an information system development project from an initial feasibility study through maintenance of the completed application. Various SDLC methodologies have been developed to guide the processes involved including the waterfall model (the original SDLC method), rapid application development (RAD), joint application development (JAD), the fountain model and the spiral model. Mostly, several models are combined into some sort of hybrid methodology
