Error Creating Spatial Index - Could not find spatial tessellation sheme 'GEOMETRY_GRID'

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 18, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server
I am trying to create a spatial index on a column of type geography in Server Management Studio. We are running SQL 2008 Workgroup. I setup the index and click ok, but getting the error:

Could not find spatial tessellation sheme 'GEOMETRY_GRID'. Specify a valid tellellation scheme name in your USING clause.

What in the world does that mean? We have created other spatial indexes in different tables successfully.

Error creating edit form for external list - Failed to find the default form for PAGETYPE PAGE_NEWFO

For the last few days we have been unable to create custom new/edit forms for External Lists in Sharepoint Designer.  When i try to create a form Sharepoint Designer show the message 'Could not save the list changes to the server'.  The corresponding message in the ULS log file is 'Failed to find the default form for PAGETYPE PAGE_NEWFORM'.  Does this mean i have somehow managed to break the form templates for External Lists?

I saw some other posts about the 'Could not save the list changes to the server' error and followed the suggested steps including removing all versions of the list and related content type, and recreatign htem but this didn't work.

Large geo database (not spatial), index problems

I am have trouble getting my database selects fast. The SQL force is not strong with me.

The data is provided from geonames.org and contains about 8 mio locations.

The main problem is my ORDER BY population DESC. When covering a large location, where there are lots of populated places (pp), its fast, but when covering the sea, 0 pp, its really really slow.

Here is the table:

CREATE TABLE [dbo].[GeoNames](
  [geonameid] [int] NOT NULL,
  [name] [nvarchar](200) NULL,
  [asciiname] [nvarchar](200) NULL,
  [alternatenames] [nvarchar](max) NULL,
  [latitude] [float] NULL,
  [longitude] [float] NULL,
  [feature_class] [char](2) NULL,
  [feature_code] [nvarchar](10) NULL,
  [country_code] [char](3) NULL,
  [cc2] [char](60) NULL,
  [admin1_code] [nvarchar](20) NULL,
  [admin2_code] [nvarchar](80) NULL,
  [admin3_code] [nvarchar](20) NULL,
  [admin4_code] [nvarchar](20) NULL,
  [population] [bigint] NULL,
  [elevation] [int] NULL,
  [gtopo30] [int] NULL,
  [timezone] [char](31) NULL,
  [modification_date] [datetime] NULL

My clustered index:

CREATE UNIQUE CLUSTERED INDEX [pk_lat_lng_id] ON [dbo].[GeoNames]
  [latitude] ASC,
  [longitude] ASC,
  [feature_class] ASC,
  [geonameid] ASC,
  [population] DESC

In one specific SharePoint calendar, on one specific week in that calendar when we select the "more items" link in the monthly view (or the expand all option) we get the following error:
The "ListViewWebPart" Web Part appears to be causing a problem. Index was outside the bounds of the array.

If we select a different week the expand and collapse works fine in that calendar.

SQL Server and MapPoint: Making MapPoint 2010 and SQL Server Spatial Work Together

While SQL Server is a good repository for geospatial data, it doesn't communicate with MapPoint as well as it could. So our geo-data experts show you how to read point and polygon objects from SQL Server and render them in MapPoint and how to write points and polygons back to SQL Server using Entity Framework 4.0 included with Visual Studio 2010.Eric Frost, Richard MarsdenMSDN Magazine September 2010

Error creating Read Item or Read List operation in Sharepoint Designer 2010

In terms of high-level requirements, I need to pull in lists from a couple of different web apps.  To do this, I’m using SPD 2010 to create an External Content Type for the list of interest.  I’m able to create a SOAP Service or WCF Service connection just fine.  However, when I try to create the external content type and create a Read Item Operation on one of the GetList or any other Get* (or other Update methods for that matter) methods, I get the following error:"The method that your operation is based on has parameters with complex types that do not have default parameterless constructor.  This kind of data source methods cannot be used in Business Data Catalog."I tried defining an operation on the “AddAttachment” method, and that worked just fine.  I also tried providing default values to the listName and viewName parameters when creating the SOAP Service connection, but still get the error.  Same issue with a WCF Service connection as well. Does anyone know if this is a 2010 issue, or am I approaching this requirement incorrectly?  What are other approaches for connecting to lists that reside in a different web app than yours?

Sesame: Spatial OData on Maps, Service Operations, HTTP Basic Authentication

Sesame Data Browser has just been updated to offer the following features for OData feeds: MapsImproved Service operations (FunctionImport) supportHTTP Basic Authentication supportMicrosoft Dallas support Maps Sesame now automatically displays items on a map if spatial information is available in data. This works when latitude and longitude pairs are provided. Here is for example a map of drinking fountains in Vancouver:This comes from DrinkingFountains in http://vancouverdataservice.cloudapp.net/v1/vancouver, which provides latitude/longitude for each fountain. Here is another example, without latitude/longitude this time: This is a map of the customers from the Northwind database, which are located based on their country, postal code, city, and street address. Service operations (FunctionImport) Support for service operations (aka FunctionImports) has been improved. Until now, only functions without parameters were supported. It's now possible to use service operations that take input parameters. Let's take as an example the GetProductsByRating function from http://services.odata.org/OData/OData.svc.This function is attached to Products, as you can see below: A "rating" parameter is expected in order to open the function: After clicking Open, you'll get data as usual:HTTP Basic Authentication New authentication options have been added: HTTP Basic and Dallas (more
