Applying parameters from SQL Server Profiler

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 18, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

When trying to debug the MDX of a specific SSRS report,  I use the SQL Server Profiler.   The query is specified, however the parameters are in XML format below the query itself.

Is there any way to autoamtically apply the XML formatted parameters to the MDX query, without having to manually replace them by use of copy & paste?

How to get jquery/ajax parameters on the server

Hi, It is my code: $.ajax({            type: "POST",              url: "Default.aspx",              data: "category=2&city=Boston",              contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8",              dataType: "json",              processData :false,              error: function (json) {                  alert(json.statusText);              },              success: function (json) {                  alert(json.statusText);                }          });  How can I get my parameters(category,city) on the server? Request's parameters is always null.   Thanks, katzraya

SQL Server 2008 Profiler--Templates Missing

For some reason (even after an uninstall, reinstall and updating the the Community Update) there are no templates visible in the Profiler for SQL Server 2008. On another system it works fine but the Trace Provider Type shows "Microsoft SQL Server 2008". On the problem system it shows "Microsoft SQL Server 10.0".   What's up?

Interesting problem with getting OUTPUT parameters from SQL Server using C#

 I have the following SP: Create procedure dbo.example(@test INT OUTPUT)ASBEGINSET @test = 5SELECT * from UsersENDGO  and when I try calling it from C# using an SqlCommand with adding an output parameter and getting it's value, I get that the value is NULL. (I should mention that I use ExecuteReader)However,  if I alter the SP and remove the select line, the c# code works and returns the value 5.

Applying SP1 for 2008 Standard Server

Dear users, This morning I attempted to apply SP1 to a 2008 Enterprise SQL Server. I encounter this message. I wonder what I should do to resolve this problem. Could you advise me what to do? Meanwhile I will search for solution. Thank you in advance. Error Applying SP1 to SQL Server 2008 Standard

Has anyone seen this error when applying SP1 to SQL Server 2008 Standard Edition.  It's on a Windows 2008 SP1 Server 64 bit machine.  Here is the error:

The process cannot access the file 'C:\Windows\SysWOW64\perf-SQLSERVERAGENT-sqlagtctr10.0.1600.22.dll' because it is being used by another process.

I've tried stopping the SQL Server agent and rebooting but I'm still getting that error.  Anyone ecounter that before?  What is that dll used for?

Interesting problem with getting OUTPUT parameters from SQL Server using ASP

I had an sqldatasource. I had set its parameter as follows

<asp:SqlDataSource ID="FvDs" runat="server"
InsertCommand="INSERT INTO [Type] ([ShortName], [LongName], [Version]) VALUES (@ShortName, @LongName, @Version);

Then i had retrived the value in OnInserted event of the datasource

protected void FvDs_OnInserted(object sender, SqlDataSourceStatusEventArgs e)
        FvDs.SelectParameters["ID"].DefaultValue = e.Command.Parameters["@ID"].Value.ToString();

For the above code it is working fine.

But now i changed the code as follows:

<asp:SqlDataSource ID="FvDs" runat="server"

and here is the code for my stored procedure

ALTER PROCEDURE dbo.usp_InsertData
	@ShortName varchar(20),
	@LongName varchar(50),
	@Version varchar(20),
			INSERT INTO [Type] ([ShortName], [LongName], [Version]) VALUES (@ShortName, @LongName, @Version)

SQL Server 2005 Profiler Deadlock Graph

The Deadlock graph displays process nodes, but doesn't show resource nodes (and of course no edges).  How do I fix this?

Execute DDL Task logging disappears after applying SQL Server 2008 SP2

I am using various SSIS packages to manage different Analysis Services (SSAS) databases.  The packages create the necessary DDL for processing the dimensions and partitions in the SSAS databases and then run the DDL using Execute DDL tasks.

I've been using SSIS logging to capture the log information for the Execute DDL Tasks and directing that log data to a SQL Server table.  I've noticed that since the application of SP2 I only get the 'Started building processing schedule.' log message for the Execute DDL Tasks and none of the other event log entries.

This has happened at a couple of the sites that I support.  Install SP2 = no logging (with the one exception) from the Execute DDL Task steps.

Is this a known issue?  I did a couple of searches and didn't find anything.

SSRS - Retreiving generated Parameters from Report Server created by using StoredParametersID

SSRS - Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services Version 9.00.4309.00

Problem - StoredParametersID is an rs: (report server) parameter and is not a valid Report Parm and can not be used in web services calls as a parameter. It can not be used as <deviceinfo> and it cannot be used as a "ReportPath" in the web services call.

How can I retreive the current set of generated parameters that are created on the report server side, so I can use these to make a web services call to retreive the Drill Down report since the only method to retreive the report information seems to be a Report URL call with the StoredParametersID included.

Install SQL Server 2005 Dev. after applying SP3 on XP

I had SQL Server 2005 Dev with SP3 for some time. Then I had to re-install SQL Server 2005 Dev.

1. I revoved all components using 'Add Remove Software'. But SP3 has 'Can't be removed'.

2. Removed the root folder under 'Program Files'.

3. Getting the following error while trying to install SQL Server 2005 Dev. 'Database Service' also is failing but not generating any log file.

Machine         : xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Log File        : C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Setup Bootstrap\LOG\Files\SQLSetup0001_xxxxxxxxxxxxx_MSXML6_1.log
Error Number    : 1603

Also note that I am unable to uninsall "MSXML 6 Service Pack 2 (KB954459)" as it runs into "Fatal Error During Installation"

Thanks for your help in advance :)

Displaying Execution Plans by Using SQL Server Profiler Event Classes - Filtering the trace?

IN SQL Profiler you have the ability to see the execution plan for each query, which sometimes can be helpful. However, I'm not able to make use of any of my filters when profiling with the "Showplan XML" event class enabled.

Say, I want to sample only batches with a duration > 100 ms, how can I make this filter take effect? I have no problems with applying such filters when _not_ using these event classes.

I'm using SQL Server 2008.

Is there a way to configure a new SQL Server Profiler trace to be named same as name of the template

After I created a template and then use the template for a trace, most of the time I want the trace to be named same as or very similar to the template.   If SQL Server Profiler allows to copy the trace name, I don't mind to copy/paste but it does not.

How to change the default location of SQL Server Profiler Template?

How can I change the default location of SQL Server Profiler Template from C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SQL Profiler\10.0\Templates\Microsoft SQL Server\90?  If I log on to a Windows machine as certain user, anything created in appdata\roaming folder during that logon session will be lost after I logged off.

If there is no way to change the location, how can I set up such user to retain anything created?  I know this question is related to Windows administration but I guess someone in here probably have experienced my problem before.
