How do I write System::StartTime to a table?

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 18, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

I am trying to very simply insert the System::StartTime into a file.

I have placed a watch on this system variable the contents of this system variable within a watch appear valid, e.g. ; -

SYSTEM::STARTTIME {18/10/2010 14:30:27} DATETIME

I created an Execute SQL Task.

I mapped the variable name SYSTEM::STARTTIME  as a parameter within a data type of DBDATE.

Entered the SQL Statement; -

INTO dbo.CustomSSISLog (StartTime)

Write-Back table generation and Measure Expressions

Hi Everyone,

It would be interesting to see if anyone can tell me a couple of things about how SSAS works. If not, at least it would be very nice if anyone could hook me up with a SSAS product team member, who can shed some light…

1. Write-Back Tables

How does SSAS create a write-back table for a partition? More specifically, if you have a role-playing dimension (I’ll use an example with a Date), you will get two Date keys with _ suffixes. How do these suffixes get generated? Is there any logic which SSAS applies consistently? This would be very helpful when moving data from the write-table to the fact table.

2. Measure Expressions

There are two conflicting blog posts by Christian Wade and Teo Lachev about how Measure Expressions work. According to Teo Lachev, Measure Expressions get calculated at runtime, while Christian Wade writes that the calculation results are stored on disk (assuming during processing). It would be good to confirm this as it may matter in some specific cases (Currency Conversions with heaps of data).

System.Net.Mail - adding multiple recipients from a table

I have been google some but I can´t find any solution that have been worked for me. I do use System.Net.mail on my site to send emails to individual employes. Now I would like to be able to email all emplyees. The emplyees email address is stored in a MS SQL table. Is it possible to make a BCC email to all employees in that table?

Best regards Daniel

system table

Hi All,

Is their any system table from where I can find table-definition of each and every tables (or I should say objects) on my Server (which includes all the db too)?

If not than is their any other way from where I can table-definitions/object definitions, as I need to use into my existing sp to compared table/objects structure(s) on two different server (one as a staging production and one as a live production).

I want to make both of them synchronous, as we change staging production on time basis based on change in our source systems.

Getting server non system databases, getting database tables, getting table columns

I use next code to get server databases

string connectionString = "Data Source=DENIS\\SQLEXPRESS;Integrated Security=SSPI;";
DataTable tables = new DataTable("Tables");
using (SqlConnection connection =
    new SqlConnection(connectionString))
  SqlCommand command = connection.CreateCommand();
  command.CommandText = "sp_databases";
  command.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure;

this.dataGridView1.DataSource = tables;

I've got many databases :

- model ( i guess it is system )

- master ( i guess it is system )

- tempdb ( i guess it is system )

- db1 ( my table )

and etc.

How to determinate what table is system.

FROM information_schema.Tables

So how to determinate what table is system or not.

Can I get tables of database

Recovery Model Indicator - Which system table?

I hope you can help as I am really scratching my head on this one.  I am pulling together an assessment of the Disaster Recovery readiness for an organisation I am working at.  Part of the assessment I am doing is the recovery model of each of the databases.

I have scripts that are already pulling lots of data from 40+ servers and 500+ databases.  However, I cannot seem to find anywhere within the MASTER or MSDB or the database itself where the Recovery Model flag is held.  Obviously I can right click on the database and click properties and it is there, but I need to automate this task (as it will probably be a weekly assessment).

I have checked sysdatabases and almost every other table, but nothing obvious as to where this flag is.

Any ideas?

System.IO.Packaging.Package commit-write issues

Hi all, I'm experiencing what seems a timing issue using the Package class. I have an editor which allows users to edit some parts in an OPC package. Wherever an edit operation is required, I apply a lock to a readonly non static member of the editor class, create a new package controlling its lifetime with "using", do my stuff and then let the package instance call Dispose and commit any edit. This works fine, but it fails when I repeat this operation quickly: it looks like the OS is still committing the pending changes in the package file, while it is newly opened for the subsequent edit. For instance if I quickly remove say 10 items in a part with an items collection, at the eleventh deletion I get an index out of range exception, as if the application and the underlying package file were no more in synch. If I do the same operations in the same order, but not as quickly as before, everything works fine.

My code is like:

lock (_objPackageLock)
 using (Package package = Package.Open(Source, FileMode.Open, FileAccess.ReadWrite))
  ... do my edits ...

where _objPackageLock is an instance member of the editor class:

public class TheEditorClass
  private readonly _objPackageLock = new object();

Locks are there for th

In SSIS, can I write the value of a variable to a SQL table?

This seems like it should be easy to do, but I can't figure it out.

In my Control Flow I have an Execute SQL task that populates an ADO Recordset variable. That works fine, the variable holds a list of server names.

Then I have that connected to a Foreach Loop Container, which loops through the server names, connects to each server, reads some info, and writes that to a table. That also works, except for those servers that it can't connect to.

So here's what I'd like to do: before I connect to the server, write the value of the variable (which contains the server name) to a table in SQL, along with getdate() so I know when it started trying to connect.

How do I just write the value of a variable to a table? If I just use an OLE DB Destination, there are no input columns.

My best thought was to use a Script Component and somehow get that value, and then somehow make it an output column, which I then connect to the OLE DB Destination as an input column??

If I do this in a C# Script Component:

it works just fine, so I know my variable is there an available.

Any suggestio

Is there no need to manually clean up merge replication system table?

In my previous post, Hilary replied that the size of MSmerge_Contents doesn't really matter, but index fragmentation does. However, referring to BOL, it says, "Additionally, you should minimize the size of the merge system tables (specifically MSmerge_history) by using sp_mergecleanupmetadata." Is it still necessary to do that in SQL Server 2005?

Also, when running select metadatacleanuptime from sysmergesubscriptions, I found that the cleanup time is just about a week before. However, my merge interval is only 5 minutes, and I remembered during last week I did a manual sp_mergemetadataretentioncleanup although paused in half way. How to check the clean up interval?

Last but not least, I have already did index rebuild on MSmerge_Contents, MSmerge_henhistory, and MSmerge_tombstone, and found that the average fragmentation dropped from above 90% (MSmerge_Contents) to below 1%, but the overall performance did not improve obviously. I remembered when merge replication was set up at the begining, th

Export Visio Database Table Names to Excel

If you use the Enterprise Architect edition of Microsoft Visio for data modeling regularly, then there is a good chance that at some point you've wanted to export just the table names into Excel. You might want to do this to map logical ERD entities to physical data model tables, track project status by entity, or track overlap between database versions.

Insert value using Table Value Functions

a real gem in Sql Server 2008. mostly people still using Stored procedure may be they shifted to SQL Server but they are not using TVF right now.

Using jQuery to Filter Table Rows

The project is using the .net GridView control, so I had limited control over the output HTML code. Still, I think this code can work for most tables. One thing to notice: you should use the class "filterable" on your table or on one of its parents for the code to work.
First, we need a text box:

RadioButton Groups, Table Rows And NamingContainers in asp.net

The RadioButtonList. Very handy for inviting users to select just one item from a list although because of the screen real estate it takes up, used less and less in favour of the DropDownList. In plain HTML, the browser knows to enforce the unique selected value amongst a list of radio buttons because they all have the same value for their name attributes.

RadioButton Groups, Table Rows And NamingContainers

(In which AJAX-enhanced CheckBoxes become more useful than RadioButtons but inheritance saves the day, and a simple RadioButton-derived control establishes the purpose of a control's naming container)
